Why does Guy Sensei summon a turtle? Kisame summoning a shark at least makes sense though. Guy went all out on Kisame, he's rarely shown to be this badass, makes me wonder why he jobbed to his clone that badly. Kisame was hardcore, wasn't snitching for shit.

A Black Tortoise is one of the four heavenly deities, which is Guy's motif.

Black Tortoise -> His summon
Vermillion Bird -> Morning Peacock
White Tiger -> Noon Tiger

obviously all that's left is the Midnight Dragon.

That's pretty cool. I hope guys backstory goes into how he met Kakashi.

Why indeed... especially now that we know his backstory...

Not that you need to worry about that at this point in time lol.
Like Dusk said its a nod to the Chinese deities. Which makes it more odd to me seeing as Naruto and Kishi are Japanese and the rivalry I've heard about with China. But Guy and Lee sport soup bowls and use shaolin fighting styles. Who knows why lol.

I think what Digibro had to say about action is especially true for Naruto since so much of Naruto's action involves speed blitzes, teleporting and fake outs. That kind of action works better in a more static medium.

Really? I feel the entire opposite. Naruto combat is a mixture of martial arts, and spectacular effects which really comes alive when animated well. The animators play a big part for instance:

First is done correctly, second one has shoddy animation and in fact should feel a lot faster than the first.

Yes, because it doesn't convey instantaneous movement. In the anime it looks like Sasuke just runs like a normal person and slashes Tobi with his sword and is more reliant on the swoosh sound effect than the animation. Almost as if compensating.

Having special effects is something you can credit anime in general having an advantage over manga. But that doesn't mean that everything that's adapted works as well.

Season 17 Episode 447 & 448

I was expecting them to not put some parts of Naruto v Nagato in this but really, Hinata's part made the cut?! We didn't need that it was a distraction to the whole Sasunaru this AU has got going for it.

Some goods parts were really around Minato's and Kushina's part. She showing up in Naruto to help him get more power and advance to the next Nine Tails mode was emotional and fantastic, I was hoping so much that they wouldnt use it to kill her off. Minato's part for the village was wonderful, Kishimoto could have followed this if he wanted to truly get no casualties for the event in the Hidden Leaf and not have to worry about the implications of the usage of a time based resurrection jutsu.

Good AU.

"You think you've won, but it was a substitution Jutsu, or a genjutsu...or whatever broken shit Madara does...unless it's fucking Izanagi."

So Kabuto just brought back the Akatsuki, a bunch of old ass Kage's, Granny Chiyo, some Jinjuriki's, Asuma and used Elite Jobber Yamato's cells in the process...

But no Jiraya. Complete bullshit.
I was about to post about how utterly stupid that shit is. Even Sai's brother got respawned, but no Jiraya. Especially since having a Sannin would provide a tactical advantage as well, not to mention that it would fuck with Naruto bad. I guess these reanimation fights are going to be won through Talk No Jutsu.

I don't remember being upset at the outcome of Asuma being revived, but I watched that a while ago and I honestly forget a lot of the early War stuff LOL

Have you watched the Powers filler arc or are you not there yet?

I'm nowhere near Powers filler yet. I'm currently at them trying to deal with zombie Zabuza and Hakku. The whole zombie plot is just...dumb...the fights aren't even that great so far. I'm currently just waiting for Sasuke to take the bandages off of his new set of eyes. From what I remember he didn't have that much of reaction to having Itachi's eyes thrown into his skull. And how powerful is Kabuto now? Like what the hell?
With how Madara's at the center of everything they might as well just call it "Madara: Shippuden."

I feel like whenever people critique the war arc, they're mainly talking about the day 1/ early day 2 stuff which was cool for what is was, but not very exciting.

When Kabuto unleashes the mystery coffin on the alliance, that's when shit really hits the fan.

not really, think of the original basketball players, and compare that to the level of basketball played today.

Not having to be the one to pioneer something is in itself a huge advantage when it comes to learning it.

(Also, Orochimaru didn't invent the reanimation jutsu. The reason he was the only one that used it was because it's unethical, and he doesn't care about ethics.)

Ok, that makes a lot more sense then. And Kabuto isn't exactly stupid by any stretch of the imagination. He's ran a whole series of experiments and has had access to heaps of Oro's data so him getting to grips with being augmented by oro's dna and being able to use his techniques efficiently makes a lot of sense. He's a book worm, which makes him a fast and deadly learner. On top of the fact that he's probably what? The fourth best medical ninja on this show? Or am I over rating Sakura and Shizune?

Just because of the type of experiments he and Orochimaru do, Kabuto would have to be beyond Shizune/Sakura/Tsunade.

At the same time I don't think he's demonstrated anything on the level of Tsunade's regeneration ability.

The dude's evil and had Kimimaru strapped to a table for months...I honestly don't think Kabuto has regeneration high up on his priority list. Considering he's got Oro's regeneration technique he's pretty formidable on that front. Pretty much I don't think he cares too much for healing these days and he probably just knows beyond the basics, but he's not as advanced as Tsunade when it comes to healing. I think he's definitely eclipsed them on poisons though.
