Tip for all you guys playing Survival on Normal or higher.

Use the buffs at the end of the round that make the next fight harder but give you extra score in like the first 5-6 matches (except for the 1% health one. Only do that if you're confident)

Then after like 20th fight, don't be stingy. Get as much health as you can for the next fight and if you're pretty close to full health, get an attack/defense buff for the next match.

No one gives a shit about the score, we just want to be able to finish.

|OT2| Bison is the bane to your survival

|OT2| You must defeat the loading times to stand a chance

also if need be just time out win against bison, its still a win

I've spent more time on loading screens than matches the past three days... I wish I was exaggerating. I can deal with the weird server issues but there is no reason for it to take more than a minute to load into anything.
Gonna quote myself here, since it was last post anyway:

Oh wow, crazy thing just happened

- got a ranked match through match making sitting in training mode
- no black loading screen (or only for a few seconds), match started very quickly
- turns out the game couldn't load my or my opponents LP, it was left blank
- I won the match and still got my points.

So apparently it's that servers fault for taking its sweet ass time delivering the LP data.

So hopefully they can fix that crap, it looks like it's entirely a server problem.

Was so hype for this new series but didn't enjoy it that much for various reasons. It was not that entertaining watching Gooteks use a fighter he doesn't know how to use, Ross made it fun cause well he is Ross, the matchmaking was kinda all over the place in terms of skill. It was slower going from one match, to training, to another match. I'm guessing next month it will be better in regards to matchmaking.
I'm really going to miss the salty run backs, in the current state getting the same player will take some time via an invite or getting lucky in rank. Hopefully Capcom adds a rematch button in rank.
Most of my issues have to do with design choices, wish you could rematch without Add to fav > create room > invite player. Don't care when you rematch if you don't get XP or FM, just want the fun experience of having a good match. Wish lobbies had more parameters like a rank category or LP, ... Soon ™

I don't know, she doesn't really have anything to expose people does she? Her normals seem so-so, and she doesn't have any legitimate 50/50s, that something like a command grab would offer.

I can't really speculate on the end-viability of the character though (of course), I was just describing the typical pattern. What you can speculate though, are that people reliant on these faux-mixups are going to be exposed with time, and their focus on these gimmicks will have been time better spent on the development of solid fundamentals.

I know that her mixups are 'not as safe as they appear' and that's what I'm emphasising.
So far 90% of the Karin's I have seen appear reliant on them, but against anyone with matchup knowledge, those players are going to be free, and with time there are going to be more and more players with that matchup knowledge.

I'm not good enough or ranked high enough to have encountered high level Karins personally, but there are definitely Karin users (seen on youtube) that have great fundamentals that do pretty okay using her without relying on her as you say, "gimmicks". Competent or "gimmicky" Karins are wrecking me, but that's on me to figure them out.

Playing Rashid so far and being pretty successful online in the sea of nonsense shotos, but I have no idea how I am going to crack players who know how to block. My roommate and I are at a point where half of the damage we deal to each other comes from throws.

My go-tos so far are
cr. LK >> cr. LP xx L Spinning Mixer
st. MP >> cr. MK xx L Eagle Spike

Mixer is -2 on block, Spike is punishable on block, and Whirlwind sets me back to neutral from having pressure. Any ideas on how to keep pressure on? I've heard that he is a frame trap-oriented character, but don't have any experience with that aspect of fighting games. I feel as if the MP >> cr. MK in my BnB catches people trying to throw moves out, but I can't just gun it because a blocked Spike will get me pounded.

Also looking for recommendations on strings from neutral to get in. I love fishing for counter-hits with cr. HP, but can't figure out how to properly use st. HK or f. MP.

Please help me, pros!

Is this game working today? I tried playing yesterday afternoon and late at night, both times my Battle Lounge failure rate was greater than 75%, in other words unplayable. And I've had all of 2 ranked fights in my entire time with the game.

Seriously considering shelving this nonsense for a while. It literally feels like a waste of time trying to get consistent matches.

I know it's servers but it's completely whacked out. All of my friends don't have this problem and it's driving me nuts x_x

Casual matches seem to load more often but ranked is a complete shitshow for me.

While waiting for this match and browsing gaf my controller turned off. I had to spend the first half of the 1st round turning my controller back on.

Still won though.

Can someone explain frames. I understand when a move takes 3 frames and whatnot but when people say this frame is -3 on block or +3 they are talking about the recovery? So what does that mean? If something is negative then what can be done ?

Went to a local tournament and got destroyed by a bison. I didn't know the match up at all and didn't know what to punish or which of his moves were safe.

Oh yeah, there's the 10% that actually have a clue how to play the character. I was never denying that.

We'll just have to see how she ends up. For laughs I was clicking around the event hubs tier list earlier, and people actually rank Karin really highly. The event hubs tier lists are trash though because anyone can vote, and they skew the vote towards matches that they have a hard time against, in many cases because they're bad, not actually because it's a difficult matchup.

Yeah, blocking is getting circumvented with special moves, I've noticed with Cammy and Chun Li, even if I was blocking the could land a hit, you have to counter immediately.
That's not how that works. There are low and high blocks, you know that right?

yep, if you do an attack that's -3 on block, that means it ends with you even with your opponent if they don't have an attack that is 3 frames.

so if I do karin's shoulder dash attack, and you block, I'm now only at -2, and since your fastest attack is probably a jab, which is 3/4 frames, it means my attack is safe because your attack doesn't start up fast enough to catch me before the recovery is over.

-3 means that when the attack hits, there are a total of 3 frames where the enemy can do something and you can't.

+3 means that when the attack hits, there are a total of 3 frames where the enemy CAN'T do something and you can.

If a move is like -2 or -3 usually only a light punch or light kick is enough to hit during that time.

If a move is like +3 then you can technically throw out a jab but because the enemy is still recovering from that move, it's likely they might recover.

If a move is negative for more than -3 or -4, then you need to only use that move when you know it's gonna hit because otherwise the enemy can react and hit you back.

Opposite for moves that are + on block.

EDIT:

If an enemy is still recovering from blocking a move that you did, then any follow up move will also be blocked. Example is trying to throw right after jumping in with a heavy punch/kick. If you try to throw directly after the attack lands, the enemy is still recovering from it, and you won't be able to grab them. Any other fast move that you do will naturally get blocked.

So over half of my wins today failed to upload, while all of my losses succeeded. Because of this I downranked back to Super Bronze. Honestly, Capcom can go fuck themselves.
