Nintendo Direct: new presentation announced for tomorrow

5ffc85008c.png

Uh oh...

I remember European November 2015 Direct mentioning a bunch of titles coming November 20th, like New Style Boutique 2 and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, but they literally just called them by names and showed a 5-second snippets of each one.

Yeah that's what I thought. no way they cover TPHD.

A PR stunt where midna takes over twitter to promote twilight princess HD? That's not related to the direct at all. They've had other nintendo characters take over their twitter before, like toad.

I think so, if you're talking about TPHD, it'll likely be mentioned tomorrow.

Please cite where it has happened, because I don't think it has, nor do I think there's a point to devoting time to TPHD when all of their other social media facets are doing just that. They know people will tune out as soon as it's on screen - what else is there to show/reveal? They've been doing the interviews/trailers nearly every day for 2 weeks now.

Look at how many videos are about twilight princess. What on earth will they show/dedicate to tphd that hasn't been put on their youtube account already?

AT BEST it's a 5 second snippet in an 'upcoming games' montage. AT BEST.

Edit: Has a nintendo direct ever covered a game that is literally going to launch the very next day/already has reviews out? Not counting additional content for the game or anything like that, but straight up talking about a game releasing the very next day, if not same week?

I think so, if you're talking about TPHD, it'll likely be mentioned tomorrow, but that's it, not sure if they'll show much of it.

I don't think they're gonna talk about TP:HD. Enough has been said already about what it's only a mere HD port of a 2006 game.

I have my hopes high for some new footage of Zelda U, but if any, it's probably going to be very short and irrelevant, like if they only wanted to remind us that the game still exists.

Metroid is dead.

Aside from that, nothing Nintendo interests me anymore.

I think it happened with Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash being briefly mentioned last time right around its release.

Probably in passing, like Reggie saying "It's out now, and the new Zelda will still be out this year" without a trailer because of course there won't be a trailer.

Exactly.

Do you have data for a similar comparsion to XY? I'd be curious to see it. After all, XY reveals were rolled out in a world with Nintendo Directs.

Let's see...

08/01/13: Pokémon Direct announcing X and Y released worldwide. Reveals Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, and the box legendaries.
09/01/13: Xerneas and Yveltal's names released.
11/01/13: Coro Coro leaked with no new information, save official artwork for the legendaries, and their heights and weights.
11/02/13: Coro Coro leaks, officially revealing Sylveon for inclusion in the Pikachu short accompanying that year's movie and some accompanying X and Y battle screenshots. No further information revealed.
14/02/13: Sylveon officially revealed in a worldwide video.
03/04/13: Mega Mewtwo Y leaked in a poster for that year's movie.
06/04/13: Mega Mewtwo Y officially revealed on Pokémon Sunday, without details or clarification- some X and Y battle footage included.
13/04/13: Coro Coro leaks- Mega Mewtwo Y featured, but without any more substantial information.
17/04/13: A new movie trailer with Mega Mewtwo Y released- supplementary details refer to it as Awakened Mewtwo.
11/05/13: Coro Coro leaks, showing off Pancham, Gogoat, Helioptile, Fletchling, further overworld shots and details, the region, trainer customisation and the boxart.
14/05/13: International trailer released, showing off the details from Coro Coro and announcing localisations.

The information largely continued on a monthly basis from that point, releasing new Pokémon and details in Coro Coro and following it up with an international trailer a few days afterward. Pokémon X and Y only ever appeared in a general Nintendo Direct once, and that was that year's E3 Direct, where Vivillon, Noivern, Pokémon Amie and the Fairy-type were revealed. There was a Pokémon Direct in September mainly focused on the announcement of Pokémon Bank, which had a reveal of Mega Venusaur, Mega Blastoise and Mega Charizard Y.

As you can see, after the reveal in January, and movie reveals notwithstanding, they didn't announce substantial details until May. Considering that they've already done the initial batch of movie Pokémon reveals, I wouldn't necessarily expect any more substantial information for another couple of months at least.

Changing my predictions.

I'm now expecting:

Zelda TPHD developer interview, loads of 3DS stuff, Yo-Kai Watch and a Starfox launch trailer to cap the whole thing off.

No Zelda U at all.

When you realize that probably the biggest megaton of tomorrow's Direct will be the 3DS getting SNES games... Sad times. Sad times.

They're not going to dedicate any time to TPHD, guys, Good lord. Nintendo has never wasted time on a retail game launching a day or even a week after a Direct. They're putting up enough media on it before release, there's no reason to use up slots on a Direct for it -- it has plenty of publicity and eyes on it.

Are people becoming that cynical/pessimistic?

They're already putting that up on YouTube.

I was going to say I don't think they'd spend a lot of time on TPHD but didn't they do that with another game that was released soon? might've been Mario Maker.

Pretty sure it's going to be mostly 3DS focused, but I feel like there's going to be a Wii U game that we don't know about shown.

Detective Pikachu in April. I don't think we'll see Federation Force, but if they do decide to show it, it'll probably release closer to Summer - June or July. I'm sure they'll talk about Star Fox, but I'm not sure we'll see any significant new footage. We may only get some information about development, and maybe some news about an amiibo set or figure.

If that purported leak is right, I'd be very interested to see what Japan has in there, seeing as Star Fox and SNES on New 3DS is the only information that isn't about an already-released product there.

In fact, that's a pretty big knock against its credibility, for me.

In case you didn't realize it, that was a Twitter stunt that happened yesterday before the Direct was announced. As far as I can tell, after multiple tweets, it also is already over, though I suppose it might return each night or something leading up to TPHD's release. Basically, there is no reason to think it's related to anything other than TPHD's upcoming release.

I'm putting nothing past them.

I genuinely think they'll save Zelda U for e3 though. They need something to keep WiiU sales trickling along until Christmas; They aren't just going to say "NX this holiday season!" and drop WiiU completely for 5 months - imo

full blowout on zelda u might be reserved til christmas, but a token act of reassurance to people who want it on wiiu and remain skeptical they're actually getting it might do. All they'd have to show would be a tiny bit of overworld variety or something. a slightly different link galloping through the coutnryside trailer and a "seriously guys 2016 on wiiu we swear" screen totally sounds like the underwhelming way nintendo would advertise something when drawing out game announcements.

They aren't going to show anything Zelda U-related, because that game isn't getting talked about again until the NX is revealed. It sucks but it is what it is.

How Nintendo has handled this game still really frustrates me.

Certainly, I mean there are a few titles to update us on like Star Fox Zero and Metroid Prime Federation Force but even with games exclusive to Japan I doubt they could fill an entire Direct. I can't say I'm convinced.

We literally saw it in the last direct.

Federation Force

But I doubt the leak as well.

Ah, I'd missed a good Nintendo Direct! I'm hoping the Fire Emblem Fates EU release date gets announced (can't see why it shouldn't), because right now I'm living vicariously through the OT thread, aaaaand I should really stop.

I think they may show off another small teaser. Although I'm not sure it's really worth it at this point.

A full blow out will come after the NX is revealed though. I just think it's clear this game is coming to NX too. Makes no sense to show off too much beforehand. People will be disappointed with lack of real info but they'll get over it once the real info comes.

So guys, I'll put this in the rumour bin, but a Dutch Nintendo site leaked the contents of the Direct tomorrow; (So, the EU Direct) They vouch for their source and seem 99% sure. This site leaked the first details about Castlevania for 3DS a few years back btw.

List of games;

Fire Emblem Fates
Lost Reavers (voorheen Project Treasure)
Mario & Sonic op de Olympische Spelen - Rio 2016
Metroid Prime: Federation Force
Monster Hunter Generations
Star Fox Zero
YO-KAI WATCH

Other rumors;

- Star Fox gets a first print edition (contents unknown)
- Super Nintendo games will finally be added to the 3DS eShop
- Monster Hunter X ---> Monster Hunter Generations
- And Monster Hunter Generations will have some Fire Emblem content
Please.

Please be real.

Snes games on handheld would be a dream, even tho I don't have a New 3DS atm I'll get one eventually. EarthBound with a sleep mode should help me finally beat it!

Also kinda off topic but I am so sick of everyone saying "MHX for NX! Pokemon for NX! Pikmin 4 for NX" more unannounced 3DS & WiiU games are coming so everyone saying "NX this" and "NX that" gets old. At this point I'm sick of the NX. I'll enjoy the current games. I actually wish someone would post a seperate Direct Hype thread and ban NX posts in it. Its gotten that bad.
