I know it's a shot in the dark but I'm hoping for more bundles of the regular New Nintendo 3DS. I've been holding out for the black one and maybe I'll get my wish.

When you make a game as bad as Other M you deserve to have the franchise taken away from you. Sakamoto doesn't understand Metroid anymore. Letting him make another one would be like letting George Lucas make another Star Wars movie.
I place my bets on that Paper Mario game rumored a while ago.

Seems pretty unlikely since SNES VC is likely coming to N3DS today and I doubt they'd announce two new forms of VC on one day--and I'd be surprised if they announced any new form of Wii U VC at this point (and when I have a sec, I will make a longer post about why I don't think GCN VC is coming to any platform to elaborate on what I said yesterday ☺

It seems based on the combination of reliable leaks the Paper Mario is probably the sle unannounced Wii U retail game, and that Pikmin 4 will be an NX game.

Corroborated as legit by multiple people ITT. Doesn't mean it's definitely true or contains the entirety of the Direct, though.
See my post above. It's entirely within the realm of possibility the releases shown will go up to August or later, but we really can't say either way because we don't know the extent to which the leak, if legit, covers the entirety of what will be shown. Less than 45 mins to go though!

For comparison metroid prime trilogy is the 7th place bestseller of all time on the UK Wii u eshop.
Super metroid is 11th when restricted to virtual console only, with only Mario, Zelda and earthbound (plus brain training which was given out for free) ahead of it.

Actually, Europe has no scheduled season for DQVII, only NA does. It's a huge game and NOE does Multi-5 translations, and is so behind with Yokai and Fates which have to be there too. It might be a bit later in Europe than North America.

You think that a thursday afternoon in march is the time to reveal a proper metroid game? The big E3 metroid game last year was federation force, and that went over real well.
That said, my number 1 game from this is picross 3D 2. Followed by rhythm heaven the best and box boy 2. Everything else is gravy if I get any of those 3.

I always catch up on the news in the days after, but this time I'm going to watch Nintendo Direct live for the first time.

- EU date for Fire Emblem (that NOT at the end of the year please!)
- Anything Pokémon Sun and Moon. Or any Pokémon news for the 3DS. (Like Pokémon Snap)

I'm aware (I check the US chart fairly regularly) as is nintendo. Thus they aren't going to decide the series's direction on federation force alone.
I'm concerned for the Federation Force s the playerbase size could make or break it.

The leak was for Europe, hence all the Fire Emblem stuff that likely won't be in the US one.
There was a rumor that DQ7 was hitting in June in the US. So, it's possible the US one will have it.

There's a difference between a spin-off and a proper mainline entry. "Real" is another way of saying 'not a spin-off'
Now, caling other M not a real metroid game is where you'd be right. It's a proper mainline metroid game, even if no one liked it.

3D World functions pretty on the nose as far as how you'd expect a Mario game to function.
Metroid Federation Force is a mission based coop shooter.

Other M was like a perfect storm of poor decisions. I like to think that no matter what he's said, Sakamoto has taken some valuable lessons from the reception of that game. plus, he's got the whole of Nintendo to reign him in on his next product.
he fucked up, lets get over it. he's still got one of the most respectable gameographies of anyone at Nintendo and absolutely deserves to continue to contribute to this series.
