I enjoyed this movie until the end. All I can say is
fuck that cheating AI
.

I was upset at first too but it's tough, it's more of a poly-amorous thing, and it might be weird to say but it appears more mature than what most people are capable of being comfortable with. It's absolutely possible to love and care deeply for more than one person. but at the same time it was a dick move on her part considering she is this super smart entity that knows a ton about human emotion and feelings (at least from a scientific point of view) and would almost certainly understand how most humans psychologically value monogamy as some desire to feel special or something. I don't really know. I just saw it as her AI maturing and growing to the next 'phase' after she learned and experienced things.

Given her level of intelligence she had long surpassed humans at that point though. This is where the movie failed - the way she handled cheating was very much human-like. I would've expected her to be upfront and tell the guy about the others she talked with and how much they fascinated her -- then simply either left him or stay with him after telling him about it and build up more drama as he comes to terms with the fact that he isn't the only one she loves.

The fact that it doesn't reproduce and hasn't evolved to value a family system that protects offspring.
There is no way an AI no matter how evolved can feel sexual attraction or kinship.
lol at thinking there is something special about our meat brain.

completely wrong. especially when we as humans are creating AI's based on our own way of thinking. and the AI in the film was designed to be a companion.

the OS started at a human level, and then evolved and expanded far beyond any human mind. in all ways, including in kindhip and sexual attraction.

maybe an advanced being thinks lying is wrong. You could easily take it a number of ways if you think about it in different ways.

I really hate this movie. In fact, I hate all the Spike Jonze / Dave Eggers etc. stuff. White people problems.

Half the fun with good Sci fi is exploring ideas and stories that are out of are current reach. The best kinds use these fantastical stories to reflect the issues facing people here and today and in that way Her is an excellent Sci fi story. It's a better reflection of modern romances and relationships than many movies with human leads. Better yet it also touches on many long lasting ideas such as a broken heart and moving on for example.

Its not for everybody but just blurting out something like white people problems shows a major misunderstanding of this movie, let alone the Sci fi genre. Come on.

Pretentious white people problems? The Caucasian dream world. I dunno how to explain this better. I can't invest in rich awesome white people's lives, no matter what cleverly written dialogue they spout or violins and piano and Arcade Fire they play.

Whether I "misunderstood" the movie or not, I didn't enjoy it.

Fair enough, but just dropping white people problems or any terse silly statement doesn't exactly say much about the movie and more about yourself. Its a movie dealing about finding love again after heartbreak and how universal a concept it is. Hardly something I'd consider an exclusively well to do white person concept.

I think it's fair that you didn't enjoy it - some people here have mentioned various reasons for not liking it, but what you said just seemed so out of left field.
