Hillary:"Where was Bernie when I got healthcare in 93?" Right there, she thanked him

If Bernie Sanders was standing right behind Hillary Clinton, why does he try to position her as being against universal healthcare every chance he gets? Could it be, possibly, a dishonest attack?

That's what she meant with the line. Not that Bernie Sanders literally wasn't there.

If the people in charge of her social media wanted to say that, they would've said that.

Audit the interns!

Not a bad response from her campaign:

"Clinton was out in front. Sen Sanders was in the background. She was the one who took the slings & arrows of the hc industry"

No they wouldn't, it's the same reason Bernie doesn't just come out and call her dishonest despite alluding to this over and over. They need each other's voters and neither can poison the well.

This wasn't her interns. She said this in a speech.

Well, she was the First Lady and he was just some random politician. Makes sense she'd be in the front.

I am getting the feeling that Hilldawg is a glass cannon. She crumpled back in '08 as well when faced with a campaign that wasn't in the bag.

If there is one thing that I have learned from the bits that I've seen of the debates these past few days, it is to not go after Sanders' past. Every time she does, he ends up explaining himself and has footage/evidence of himself not just explaining after the fact. When I was watching, I thought that Cuba thing would sink him but instead of a golden bullet, it further legitimised him as someone who has always been fighting for what his campaign is based upon.

If that's what she meant she needs a refresher course on getting the point across cuz man she blew it.

Pretty sure the photo in the letter and the speech were the same day too because Hillary had the same earrings and she was dressed the same way. Like how can a presidential candidate fuck up so much?
I believe in the Bernie miracle, don't let me down USA.

It's called a sarcastic line. Unless you really think Hillary Clinton truly doesn't remember that one of the oldest senators in Washington was there when she was arguing for healthcare reform.

Small shit like this really only matters to people who want to find fault with literally everything Hillary does.

You should be a PR rep. Great spinning.

She asked where he was when she was trying to get healthcare reform passed back in the 90s. If she was trying to say that Bernie is dishonest, she did a very poor job of getting that across. Especially when, you know, she wrote him a note back then thanking him for his commitment to the issue. And there's a picture of Bernie standing right behind her. But let's ignore that for now.

Hilldawg. Mmm-mmm. This is still your race to lose. Don't be trying to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory yet again.

I had already seen the letter before, but goddamn that photo is the icing on the cake.

Hillary trying to go after Bernie's progressive credentials is a terrible attack strategy that keeps backfiring on her. She should instead focus on his electability and his ability to even get anything done should he be elected.

Stretch Armstrong over here.

If she doesn't remember the reality of the way the Reagans handled AIDS, then I wouldn't put anything past her. She doesn't seem to care about facts.

Need that AlphaGo AI to run Hillary's campaign. Would have known long ago to run off into another corner and not engage with any Bernie stuff.

You on the other hand refuse to find fault with anything she does, even when it's blatantly obvious she made a mistake.

How do you forget this?

How do you not go back and try to remember every interaction with someone who is your primary opponent? How is there not someone in her campaign whose job is literally to cross reference and research every interaction they've ever had so she knows exactly how to go at him?

I'm so confused

I'm a Bernie fan who thought I'd still be happy with Hilary. But I'm starting to feel it less and less with Hilary....between dumb shit like this and her comment to Obama about Assad....I dunno.

seriously.

I mean if trump is the nominee i will for the first time in my life vote democrat, even if the DNC rolls out the ghost of jimmy carter just so trump doesnt get in. But it would be nice to have at least halfway intelligent person that isn't constantly shooting themselves in the foot.

Because she just says what people want to hear regardless of whether or not she actually believes it

"Where was Sanders?" and "She was in front" are not really meant to be taken so incredibly literally.....it's not about a photograph of a press conference.

Her point is not that Sanders was absent during the early 90's health care debate -- her point is that Sanders was there. That he should know about her record, and not distort that record for his own political gain.

The note is pretty damning.

What is this, the third or fourth time she "misspoke" in the past two days?

It's sloppy, and honestly starting to get a bit worrisome.

Oldest senators in Wasington? Sanders didn't become a senator until over a decade later, in 2007.

if you're going to switch votes over Hillary not knowing who was standing behind her in 1993, you have much bugger problems. The reaction to this is fucking absurd and irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Candidates arent reauired to know their opponents' schedule over the last 20 something years much less watch old videos of themselves

"To Bernie Sanders, with thanks for your commitment to real health care access for all Americans and best wishes"
-Hillary Rodham Clinton 1993

That's a letter she wrote him along with a photo of them together talking.

This train of thought sets a bad precedent for electing the right president.

Our system is rigged against finding the right president. At worst, we need someone who won't fuck up our Supreme Court, government agencies, and will veto horrible shit the house tries to pass into law.

A child could accomplish these basic things, the hard part is just getting that person in the chair. That's why I don't want Hilary just shooting herself in the foot for no reason. She's almost certainly going to be the nominee (mathematically speaking it's just very likely), so anything that hurts her helps GOP.

Not only the first lady, but the head of the health care task force, appointed by her husband. It would have been impossible for anyone else to be out front, because it was engineered to highlight Hillary's capabilities for her future political career.
