So if Trump wins, and it looks like he is going to win, I wonder if the Republican Party will embrace his tactics and become outspokenly racist, xenophobic, (even more) anti-Muslim. Or will they resist him even if he's a republican president? The thing is, they already are all those things, but will they still try to be somewhat pc or just say fuck it?

I said it before, they will NEVER allow Trump to be their candidate. The GOP isn't a political party, it's a sort of scam, Trump will not be allowed to influence it.

They'll kick him out and hope he doesn't stick around after 2016.

I fucking despise how much air time has been given to Trump.

Everyone knows about Trump's policies. Nobody knows about any of the other candidate's, except maybe Cruz' flat tax.

So I just got home from work and what's happened to poor Marco

I'm fine with Bernie staying in and keeping things leftwards-focused, but if he starts ramping up his attacks even more he'll have very much outstayed his welcome in my book. There's no point in going negative if you can't win.

Bernie's not only running for himself, he's running for basically all of America's younger citizens and far-left liberals like himself from 2020 onwards.

The longer he stays in, the better gauge we have of where we're at as a nation.

Cruz losing to Trump in 4 remaining states tonight. MO and NC not called yet though.

Not counting FL and Illinois where Trump already won.

EDIT: TRUMP wins North Carolina

Good to see Bernie taking the high road and attacking Hillary non-stop.

Sweet to hear. Glad his loser ass is going to fracture the party on his way out.

Pretty sure Hillary's being crap herself had a lot to do with that (as more than a few posters have pointed to our "lesser of two evils" state of affairs)

There really is no reason for Bernie to drop out until the end. As long as his supporters keep funneling money to him, why not keep going?

And Clinton could ultimately not be able to run, whether it be an illness or an actual indictment (unlikely) so it's a super slim chance but I don't understand people calling for Bernie to get out.

I say all this as an avid Hillary supporter who really really wants to see Bernie drop out solely for the Reddit meltdown.

Yeah i'm scared to say anything.

If anyone says something good about Trump I see them banned a few minutes later.

I really don't think that's true. There was a Trump fan recently in a Trump related thread that carried on for a good while and was never banned. Like just two days ago I saw this. What gets them banned is if they start crossing a line. It really goes both ways. Personal attacks against any supporter has already been called out against by besada in this thread.

This is almost exactly what Ron Paul supporters said long ago. He's running for the "future of the movement".

I mean, it's as simple as saying "Bernie Sanders's campaign is not lost (what it stands for, what it wants to do) until he's out of the race".

What he stands for has no particular relation to the current status of his campaign. Man moved the national needle leftwards, he could drop out 15 minutes from now and that wouldn't change.

Bernie Sanders is not the liberal messiah. Progressivism is not implicitly tied to his success and his alone.

You seriously think that isn't out of the question with a tea-party controlled congress, and multiple supreme court justices chosen by Donald Trump?

It is out of the question. It'd be filibustered. It wouldn't stand up to SCOTUS, regardless of what kind of Justice you think he'd put in. The Republicans in the House and Senate don't like Trump, so they're not going to play ball with him on it. And if he did try it, he'd get destroyed in an election in 4 years. It's not happening.

The only way it could THEORETICALLY happen is if a Constitutional amendment was passed, and that would require some major, major leaps to get done.

Voting in the guy who calls for the ban legitimizes the rhetoric. Think very seriously about the message it sends to Muslims AND the people who hate Muslims.

I'm not voting for Trump. I'd vote for a ham sandwich before I ever voted for any modern day Republican, whether it be president, congressman, or dog catcher.

I'm aware of the message, but you certainly don't need to win the presidency to spread that message. He already has, and with great success:

That ship has sailed long ago.

Yeah, but Ron Paul put up a tenth of the fight that Bernie has.

Fuck my state (IL)....I suppose the only solace I can take is that the rest of the states are just as stupid.

The Republican party doesnt fear his overt racism, it fears his positions on trade and job growth and social security. Donald is going to attack Hillary from the left and the right in the general, which makes him more dangerous than a thoroughbred conservative like Cruz.

I'm not claiming he's a messiah, I'm claiming he should stay in and continue his message so we can get more people to hear it.

Until he drops out and can't get that message out any more, it's not over.

Yeah, she's got her warts.

Don't need Sanders casting dispersion on the party's nominee. This election is too important.

Why not drop out and continue spreading his message stumping for Hillary in the general? The Party gets to look like it's got it's shit all the way together (strong contrast with the other guys), Hillary gets to save her warchest for the general, Bernie has longer to pull his supporters together and make sure they don't do something stupid like vote for Trump.
