I thought it was okay but the pacing is screwed due to how obnoxiously long it is. Margot Robbie alone was worth the price of admission though.

...hate me...
Overly long, monotonic, pretentious, by-the-numbers, empty, off-putting cast choices.

My least favorite Scorsese and I'm not sure if I'll ever voluntarily re-watch it.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
Its a damn entertaining watch on the first go through but like the Dark Knight its one of those movies that probably isn't as good on a second watch if you're going to start dissecting things and getting a bit more critical once the initial wave of euphoria ends. It is also probably a bit too long and doesn't really have much of an ending but I think that latter point might have been on purpose considering what the movie was about.

I saw this during new years eve when it came out. I just thought it too long for the material. Leo and his antics were fine for a while but it just went on and on and I just grew tired of it. Maybe I was in a bad mood, maybe I was really tired and wanted to go to sleep but it's not a movie I'd want to rewatch.

I got bored. It's the same scene over and over. In fact, it made me burn out on Jonah Hill. What an obnoxious character!

edit: dammit I don't wanna be first post being all negative lol

I have to agree. Unfortunately I made the mistake of seeing it with my mom and grandma, who decided it was time to leave when Jonah Hill's wiener started flopping around, but even before then I was getting pretty tired of it. Woo, Leo is rich, he does insane things with his money!! We get it. Maybe it got better at the end.

In terms of the core theme of the film and it's relation with the audience, I think presumptuous is a fair criticism.

Yeah, not a fan of this one. It was funny at times, but not a good film. The Departed was soo much better.

In fact, I don't like any of his "biopic" movies.

Great movie. And Margot Robbie. Gad DAMN, son. Didn't know of her before this film but my god, she might be the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. Don't know how her level of hotness is even possible.

I love his sleazy crew and hot-tempered dad(Rob Reiner). Great movie. Not my favorite Scorsese movie but probably his funniest.

I genuinely don't understand how some people can say Leo isn't a good actor. I agree that preference is somewhat subjective, but I mean, COME ON...

Loved the movie one of Scorcese best. I was glued all the way through, pacing was perfect. Agree that it's a masterpiece.

Didn't feel like 3 hours, I wanted more

Also why is this thread called DiCaprio's The Wolf of Wall Street? He didn't make the film. He was an actor in it. In fact, why do people always give actors more credit in the films than they deserve. It's infuriating

Because if you replaced Leo in the film with me, the movie would have sucked...

Yeah, and if Scorcese chose someone else for the lead, it probably would have been just as good.

I don't feel that way at all. Sure there are some actors that could have pulled it off but to me, Leo made the movie. Of course I'm not bashing Scorcese - he's a genius - but I was responding to the above poster saying actors get too much credit for movies.

What does my avatar have to do with Leo being a better actor than me?

Look, you said it was "infuriating" that actors get too much credit for the roles they are in. I'm just saying that many of us enjoy seeing particular actors. I would not call it "DiCaprio's The Wolf of Wall Street" but I think his portrayal of Jordan Belfort made the movie.

My point is that as someone with of Wolf of Wallstreet avatar (of Leo in particular), you probably are not the best judge of "nobody else could play that role" attitude.

Haven't seen it but that's how I feel about Gangs of New York. Ridiculously good film. Daniel Day Lewis is probably one of the best actors ever. Add in Leo and it's like daaaaaamn

How is what you said mutually exclusive from what he said?

Dr. Strangelove is a funny satire and a masterpiece.

I don't think Wolf of Wall Street is a masterpiece

Lol, do I really need to qualify everything I say. yeah, the two statements aren't logically excluding, but since my comment was a response, it is implied I mean, "just a funny satire".

Frankly, I thought Di Caprio deserved an Academy Award for his performance in the Wolf more than he did for his performance in Revenant.

Tom Hardy was much better in Revenant.
