No one going down a Batpole? Lame.

Of course Bruce gets the girthy batpole.

I'd imagine there were a lot if WB executives that think/thought this would pull in Force Awakens level cash

The only movie that will do that is avatar 2. I'm fiending for that unobtainium right now lol. Outside of George Miller the future of action blockbusters is looking serviceable at best. Need Cameron back already.

Just got tix for Saturday afternoon, me and the fam. All of us are getting geared up: wife's got a Wondy shirt, I have Supes, my son has Bats, and my daughter has Batgirl. We are pretty amped.

Boxoffice.com's final weekend prediction is $172M for whatever that is worth.

Obviously, at this level, accuracy is relative.

I'm still thinking 175-185 is possible.

I mean, the narrative has started to set up pretty fucking quickly already, but I don't know if that's going to have happened in time to knock 20-30 mil off the OW.

Warners basically has to hope now that they've got a series on their hands that is as relatively critic proof as Transformers. That's their best case scenario. They have to hope that Snyder is a better Bay than Bay is, in that he somehow constructs movies that have a repellent forcefield of pure stupid that keeps any critical assault from even remotely denting its earnings.

It means "greater than." The OP is making a joke in the title by turning the "v" in the title clockwise by 90 degrees. He cleverly manipulates the letter to imply that Superman is greater than Batman. For an explanation on how to use the greater than symbol refer to the following example: "Batman Vs Superman" < "Civil War"
That... isn't what I meant, but thank you :P

185 is possible unless Zootopia by some dark magic holds strong.

You know what? If there's anybody who could pull a similar tack to what Bay has with Transformers, it's Snyder. Say what you will about Bay, but I REALLY like when he's at his best with action stuff. Dark of the Moon's 3rd act was baller as fuck because it was just absolute goddamn city carnage

Finally. A place I can chat about BvS and not have to deal with negative opinions on the GOAT Speed Racer.

Welcome to my land.

Speaking of box office hypotheticals. This film is going to be frontloaded. It doesn't get Man of Steel's summer weekdays, and Friday is a holiday. That frontloadedness may be compounded if the reviews/early WOM are turning off less dedicated fans/viewers.

If BvS ends up with Amazing Spider-Man 2 legs, it could open to $160M and still fail to beat Deadpool domestically.

Watchmen legs would put it under Deadpool with a $180M opening.

poor kids. ah well. gotta learn disappointment at some point.

How can they still think that when MoS' box office was middling at best? Are they really counting on the Batfleck to boost interest by THAT much?

2025 is right around the corner :D

Nah I'm out. There isn't going to be any meaningful discussion here.

It's not even about liking/disliking the movie, it's just meme shit.
Please don't. I love Man of Steel, but it and its sequel have a massive, massive amount of baggage. The positive/negative scrutiny these films have recieved is monumental.

The theme of my (reconstructed) thread was going to be a wrestling style feud, playing up the heat this series has been getting. Playing INTO the criticisms rather than straight up ignoring them. Lex was the mastermind all along with Wonder Woman running interference. Extreme Rules includes all the toys Batman owns.

Regardless of technical successes that Man of Steel and BvS have, the plot points will be dissected for YEARS. It's been 3 YEARS of that same schtick for MoS's dissenters, and this is how I'm dealing with it. KNOWING FULL WELL more years of this are to come.

I think I will see this movie 3 or 4 times in the theater, if not more. For me, that's more than Star Wars and Creed. That's how much I love these characters.

If this shit loses to Deadpool...
Man, this is a weird year.

There's no way it misses that OW.

Presales have to be through the roof. How much damage could these reviews do a couple days before release?

Unless you're talking overall in which case....well yeah, that'd be a weird fucking 2016 indeed.

24 hours from now I will be a changed man.

Jk I'm actually still excited to just watch it, regardless of reviews or expectations. The divide between the critics and audiences so far is pretty interesting. Now I want to just see what it's all about rather than be worried if it's good or not.

This really is like, the inverse of the box office party that was Force Awakens watching.

Dude this thing has been a marketing juggernaut. Opening weekend is going to be strong.

If the audience lines up with the critic reviews however then this will have worse legs than whatever Scoot McNairy's character was supposed to be.

Which is great, I really like what you've done with the OT so far.

"Killed Krypton....'s survivors"

It's possible but then again, I don't think anyone would be surprised at this point if it failed to reach those number. It's gonna be interesting to see how the numbers trend from Friday to Sunday.

I love what you did with the OT man.

This should be a place to discuss the good, the bad, the funny, and the sad. The OP definitely plays into that very well.

It will feel so weird that a Batman vs Superman ft. Wonder Woman movie flops amidst the peak of comic book movies.

Almost like something you see in a knightmare.

Bay has lowest denominator humor tho. I think that's a great reason why he is successful. Well, that and hot girls.

Snyder is joyless.

Movie can literally be worse than man of steel and I would still rather watch it than MCU Genric superhero movie number 22.

It's only 12 movies so far. Don't get ahead of yourself.
