Critically acclaimed TV shows you don't like?

Bob's Burgers is critically acclaimed? i like it didnt no it was that popular.

I dont like jessica Jones i tried watching the first ep but was very meh on it. Supergirl as well watched the pilot was pretty shit.. but i heard it gets better so i might give it another chance. Also Agents of Shield is that counts.

Good chunk of the top ones, I find boring as hell. Wire, Mad Men, House of Cards, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones; all way too slow for me. I unfortunately have pretty damn limited tastes when it comes to live action stuff and I've long since stopped forcing myself to watch something I wasn't feeling. Currently, only live action TV series I'm watching is Walking Dead, and that's starting to piss me off as well.

I am saddend that you don't didn't get any enjoyment out of the Americans. Have you given it a chance? The first few episode were sort of rough, but since then, it has been the perfect show.

As for me, I hated Mr Robot. I actually don't think its good. Too many annoying characters and the plot is all over the place. The pacing is awful and the drug trip just makes the show more psychedelic than it needs to be.

I don't really like the Americans. Tried a couple of episodes but meh.

I watched Bob's Burgers once. It had a scene where the daughter is asked to work on the grill and replies with: "My crotch itches"... the rest of the family says: Let me see. And she starts scratching her crotch. That was my only experience with that show.

I watched The Walking Dead for 3 seasons before I realised that I hated it. That whole section on the farm was painful to get through, then that guy impersonating Liam Neeson was my breaking point.

Walking Dead

+1
For me it's basically The Bold and the Beautiful with some zombies in it, really such a terrible show.
And I watched it up to season 5, just because my gf was sort of into it, so I know what I'm talking about.

Agent Carter and Agents of Shield. I don't get it, they're both so bland and unremarkable as tv shows go.
These are my two. They have their moments but I mostly find them mediocre and cheap looking. The latter is especially hard to excuse these days when you've got gorgeous looking shows like Mr. Robot and Better Call Saul out there.

I used to like The Walking Dead but then I realized nothing ever actually happens and it's the same stuff over and over.

Is always sunny in phili acclaimed? At least there's tons positive things I hear from viewers about it.

I haven't been able to get into its brand of humor. Maybe I'll get it someday. It took me a few tries to get into Parks and Rec and it ended up being one of my favorites.

I've watched the first episode of The Wire twice and I found it difficult to get through both times and didn't have any desire to move on past it. I thought maybe the first time I was in a bad mood or something, but...

I had the same response you did to the first episode of the wire nearly 7 years ago, maybe more. On this forum no less.

Seriously, I went back and literally edited the posts where I said "I dont get the hype about this show, episode 1 was pretty by the number" just to get rid of it.

It's a really really amazing show that the first episode just doesnt do justice. One day your gonna probably sit down and consume the first season, that's all it will take, by that point you will be all in.

X-Files

I got through season 1, and thought most of it was okay, not great. The plots were almost always laughably predictable and cliche, but some of the monsters of the week were at least creepy and interesting enough to keep my attention.

Tried Season 2 and found it to be even worse. Gave up after several episodes. Does it get better later on? I REALLY wanted to like it, because I loved Fringe, and from what I've heard, that was a huge blatant X-Files homage.

I cannot get into The Sopranos for the life of me. It was a struggle to finish the first season and I can't even bother to watch anymore.

Jane the Virgin. I remember it starting out with extremely high praise.

I watched about fifteen minutes of the first episode. I couldn't take any more CW. Too much CW.

I guess Bob's Burgers for me. I gave it a few episodes and found most of the humor flat. People tell me it gets a lot better, so I mean to jump ahead soon - just haven't had time.

Jessica Jones is really uneven to me. Some episodes are absolutely terrific, and then I find myself being bored with an episode after. I think it may have been stretched out a little much story wise. The season feels like it could have been two episodes shorter, easy.

The West Wing. In fact, anything that Aaron Sorkin is involved in. Cannot stand his writing. I really tried with The West Wing too, but I just couldn't finish the first series.

Friends. I mean I don't really need to add anything here do I? Awful show.

Breaking Bad - gave it two episodes, it was shit. It might get better, sure, but why wade through shit to get to the good stuff? Ain't got time for that!

Daredevil and Jessica Jones.

I like the Daredevil comics and can tell the show is fairly well made but it feels so boring and his suit looks awful. I did watch all of Season 1 and 2 but two had a cool Punisher, an Elektra who was not that true to Elektra and full of fight scenes that felt like they existed only to pay tribute to Season 1s hallway fight rather than doing anything new.

JJ was good but I equally didn't find it that compelling. The ptsd aspects were really good and new but the casual and vigorous sex scenes kinda took me by surprise.

For TWD...I felt the first season was ok, quite good maybe. Then Season 2 was glacially paced and dumb beyond measure. Then AMC said they had plot beats for around 10-14 seasons of it. Then I realised they were fetishising the gore and found it off putting, even though I can play gory games or watch shows, TWD felt like look at our SFx as this guy gets his face torn apart by wet paper bags with the strength of an Ox.

I'm not sure Agents of Shield counts but I feel like it's hard to validate its existence after they revealed stuff about Coulson. Like now it maybe serves to have a ground level aspect to the MCUs goings ons, but it feels like until the Inhumans MAYBE come into play after Infinty War...it offers little of value and can look cheap.

It is always annoying when a tv show is evangelized by critics to the point where people who usually don't watch tv latch on and say that it is the best show on tv (despite not having anything to compare it to). True Detective seemed to be an example of this. The situation was aggravated here in Sweden by the fact that our "tv critics" lack any kind of specialized knowledge about the medium.

Speaking of Swedish TV, is there any chance of a second series of Jordskott? I really liked the first series.

Added that in for you...looks like I'm never watching that show :/
It would have been great if it was spoiler tagged though it's really nowhere near as much of a spoiler as it appears to be. I've spoiler tagged why that is (though MY spoiler isn't a big spoiler in itself in light of reading what you did) if you're curious. But it's better to (correctly) consider it a misunderstanding and to watch Six Feet Under anyway without reading the following:
There is a point where it shows future events in the lives of many characters after the series ends, which includes their individual eventual deaths. It's a spoiler of a dramatic device.

I liked both first thirds of Daredevil S1 and S2. Fisk's portrayal in S1 and the love triangle in S2 turned me off big time though. Playing up the sob back story works for Punisher since he's not a full on super villain. With Fisk it takes away a lot of his intimidation and believability. I didn't buy him as being able to rise to mob boss from nothing if he can't even talk to girls.

Breaking Bad - gave it two episodes, it was shit. It might get better, sure, but why wade through shit to get to the good stuff? Ain't got time for that!

It gets a lot better and has most of it's best episodes towards the end where a lot of writers are usually running out of material. If you truly hated the first part of S1 then it's probably not for you. For someone on the fence, they should definitely stick with it.

Mad Men
Breaking Bad
Better Call Saul
Mr Robot
Orange is the New Black
House of Cards
The Sopranos
The West Wing
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Silicon Valley
Fargo
Hannibal

Hannibal: great acting, great cinematography, a little too high concept for me.
All super heroes TV show: Maybe I'm just too old for that.
Mr. Robot: Giant corp in control conspiracy theory getting old, fight club thing too.

Not keen on Breaking Bad, anything related to Marvel, Game of Thrones and Sherlock. Some of them are well made and acted yes, but just not to my taste.

e: breaking bad i have enjoyed specific episodes, but I never felt compelled to carry on watching after the Gus arc. something about it just didn't grab my attention.

Breaking Bad is definitely the one I can never get into and it isn't for a lack of trying. I've gotten through Season 1 three times, and just got through Season 2 for the first time recently and I am really not feeling it still.

Season 2 is the worse season btw. Season 3 onwards is when things starts escalating.

It would provide context for the discussion as you seem to dislike a very broad selection of programmes. It doesn't need to be an exhaustive list or your absolute favourites; maybe just 10 shows you really like at the moment.

OK. Game of Thrones, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Wire, Deadwood, Peep Show, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Venture Brothers, Archer, Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23.

Joss Whedon's various TV shows. Buffy, Firefly, Dollhouse etc.

I've given them a fair shot, Buffy got two seasons, watched all of Firefly, but I just couldn't enjoy them.

However, I absolutely love Whedon's work on comics like Astonishing X-Men or the Avengers movies. Just not his TV output.
