I meant it the other way honestly. Support for Israel is overwhelming and mainstream. Progressives will lose at the ballot box if they moderate. I believe this firmly.
Yup. It's like the death penalty- they can't move on this issue any time soon.

I was just joking around but yea support for Israel is quite mainstream for what seems like no good reason. TBH i don't think its a game changer though, definitely one of the more minor issues (in the election). Sadly the mexican/south american drug wars are more violent and much closer and probably even more our fault than the isreal vs palestine issue (and legalizing drugs would probably be the easiest solution).

This is the most nuance related to Israel I've ever seen from the mouths of presidential candidates running for office.

A viewer might even get the sense that Israel isn't perfect at times.

I'm voting for Hillary she will inevitably take this, but let me tell you, I'm going to feel disgusting doing it. But I'll put that aside and vote for progress, no matter how much it is.

Bernie is asking for Hillary to give a quick soundbite answer on Israeli/Palestinian conflict.

There is no quick soundbite answer on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.

Hmmm, I think a lot of people in this thread don't realize what this part of the debate means in NYC.

You can't actually take the position against Israel so hard in NYC, particularly Brooklyn. The Jewish vote here is really potent. Bernie harping on Palestinians so hard might actually hurt him.

I don't know enough about the conflict to take a strong stance, but I think it's a complicated place that can't be easily solved.

Racism and islamophpbia is a big part of it. But every time a stream of comments about Israel pour in on this board I'm reminded how out of the mainstream progressives really are on Israel.

This is correct. This will not help Bernie on Tuesday, no matter how others love his answer.

Fucking exactly. A lot of people in this thread don't understand the election cycle.

A lot of Sanders supporters don't understand the election process.
I would love to see stats as to the number of Sanders supporters where this is their first election.

Yep, Sanders is literally pandering to his College Kids base who unlike other gens don't understand why Israel gets a free pass most of the time.

Supporting this candidate despite this stance, to me, is a big ¯_(ツ)_/¯

No different than supporting that other candidate despite his gun stances, despite his repeated pro-crime-bill stances, despite his repeated support for every American foreign intervention from Somalia to Afghanistan and apparently, Libya (pursuant to UNSC Resolution 1973) not ending in the letter Q.

Not all jews are AIPAC spoke persons. Not they all perceive criticism of Israel as an attack against their jewishness.
