I'm of the mind that Bernie Sanders needs to drop out as well. Party needs to unify RIGHT NOW. Trump is going to start unloading on Hillary starting tonight.

Bernie will continue the tag team against Hillary he's been running with Trump all year. And when he isn't busy doing that he'll poison as many people as possible against the "establishment" and free trade.

Donald Trump is going to win Ohio, Michigan, and the 2016 Presidential election thanks to Bernie Sanders.

Big difference now. Before it was just inevitably.

Now it is putting the presidency and supreme court battle on the line. Trump is going full bore on the Democrats and Hillary now. Hillary is going to be forced to go 100% after Trump in return, and anything Bernie doesn't do now to bring the whole Democratic party together against Trump is going to burn bridges fast. The game is over.

No offense, but again: same pressure since forever. Same guilt tripping, same accusations of dividing the party, same everything. This only difference is that today is May 3, 2016.

John Kasich ‏@JohnKasich 2m2 minutes ago

Sen. @TedCruz should be proud of his strong and disciplined campaign. Texas is lucky to have you. Best wishes going forward. -John

Ted Cruz recognized the reality of math before Bernie Sanders did.

Let that sink in.

Republicans dont really have a problem falling in line. Bernie is on the complete other end of the spectrum. I highly doubt his campaign is going to stop before the convention.

Generally because he's been mathematically eliminated, and now we have a definite Rep candidate in Trump.

A candidate that should scare anyone with basic reasoning skills.

Bernie has been eliminated since March 15th. He can keep going, but he's not winning. He's only wasting your money and making it hard for Hillary to focus on Trump.

Uh, no he won't.

It seems like a state's demographics are a much better indicator of how they'll vote than polling with some consistency. Nate Silver was saying earlier that Indiana favoured Bernie by about 7 points on a demographic basis, contrary to the polls.

Seriously. I'm just stunned... Really thought Cruz would be delusional enough to think he had a chance, right up to the end.

In any case, yeah. Trump has no reason to give a fuck about Kasich, so he will shift focus to Hillary and the Dems. For the sake of downticket elections if nothing else, Sanders needs to drop out, now. Cruz dropping out changes the whole ballgame. For the sake of the party, Sanders needs to go. I don't think he will unfortunately, but I really hope I'm wrong.

Aaand spreading a message advocating for the creation of a far-left social democracy in the USA. That is also important.

As someone who donated to Bernie I have to agree. He needs to drop out now and do everything he can to help the Democratic party come together because as much as we wish it wasn't the case this election is going to be a fight.

Wow this is amazing. Now the rest of the other half of the GOP will rally behind the moderate/sane one (Kasich).

No, they'll get in line and vote Trump in November. This is what the Sanders crew doesn't understand. The GOP base ALWAYS gets in line. The Tea Party crowd hated Romney, they still voted for him against Obama and then showed up strong in mid-terms.

Meanwhile Sanders is travelling across the country spreading a message of anti-establishment, isolationism, and unilateral presidential power. The same message Trump has been spreading. Pretty easy for white independents to make the jump from Sanders to Trump.

I'm with you.

But if he must stay... I hope he doesn't spend a single breath attacking Hillary. Stick to the platform that he drones on about ad nauseum.

His platform on economic and foreign policy issues is Donald Trump's platform. How does sticking to the false narratives he repeats in his stump speeches going to help?

Hillary should honestly just ignore Bernie. Try to win as many votes as she can in the primaries left, but basically begin the general campaign soon. Bernie isn't winning the nomination and pretty much no amount of anything is changing that.

You really think there's no difference in pressure between the Republican primary being a complete mess with the candidates focusing on each other and Trump and the Republican establishment focusing 100% on battling Hillary? Be serious here.

The only thing his campaign is doing is creating a new member of the 1% with all the money Tad "I Created Superdelegates" Devine is getting.

DONALD TRUMP IS THE NOMINEE OF A MAJOR POLITICAL PARTY FOR PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

This is real life

I'll put it this way - Lex Luthor was a more reasonable idea as a Presidential candidate than Donald Trump was and even the DC Universe made him cheat.

By spending $0 in Indiana, she already kinda is.

I actually think Sanders staying in the campaign is a good thing for Hillary.

It will convince Sanders supporters that he is keeping her honest and moving toward more progressivism. I think they can leverage it.

For people panicking about the state of the Democratic race, McCain wrapped up the GOP nomination in 2008 way before the Democratic race was over. It didn't matter.

He's not doing that though. He spends most of his time these days attacking Hillary Clinton and the DNC. He's even promoting lies on his campaign website about the Clinton campaign being involved in a money laundering scheme. Bernie has sidelined his message.

If he stays in now that the GOP has a nominee, he will be actively hurting the party.

This is the biggest thing that irks me about people thinking Hillary will automatically win. Republicans will go into full Execute Order 66, they will turn into sheep to vote Republican.

Democrats? Democrats tend to not vote as much as they should be. Because it's Somebody Elses Problem. "I don't have to go out there and vote, I already know all the minorities will go out and vote!".

Bernie needs to make like a tree and leave already, because jesus christ he's going to fuck everything up.

Hillary got dragged in 2008 for her shit though, and that race was much closer than this one. Her rhetoric wasn't anything like Sanders, either.

He knows he can't and isn't going to win, and he says he will do anything to stop a Republican from getting in.

If he continues to attack Hillary, he's either insane or a ****.

There is no two ways about it.
