Persona 5 comes out September 15th in Japan

I hated the voices in both P3 and P4. To me, the actors sounded like if they were dubbing a show for kids, and everyone had high-pitched annoying voices, even the guys. That actually forced me to disable voices in those games (I still had to endure them in animated cutscenes, though).

So I also hope they offer dual audio.
If you dont like high pitched voices, I dont know how you'd tolerate shit like rie kugiyama

in what fucking universe does this game look visually anything short of incredible

saying it's "worse than p3/p4 in places" or that "p3 and p4 looked great on ps2" requires a pretty crazy idea of what those games looked like

Really? Look at the amount of aliasing and muddy textures in this 1080p shot. It's like an up-rezzed PS2 game. If this is some weird youtube compression that's causing all this, I'll gladly take back any criticism, but I don't think that's what's going on.

Don't get me wrong, I'm hyped for the content; it's just the presentation of that content I have issue with. It doesn't look current-gen as their past games have. If I'm going to play a game for 80 hours, I at least in 2016 don't want to see aliasing everywhere.

I hope taking a stream or youtube screengrab isn't actually a thing you want to seriously judge the image quality on.

Definitely going in expecting a higher-res PS3 game visually, but still, that styyyyyle can more than overcome some bad textures and jagged lines.

There is some legit aliasing, but 90% of the mud there is YouTube compression.

P5 looks tremendously more "current-gen" than P3 or P4 did in their day. P3 came out a year after Metal Gear Solid 3 and Resident Evil 4 and the same year as fucking Gears of War! And it looked like this:

Wasn't the NA launch of Persona 5 supposed to launch simultaneously with the JP release? Could of have sworn I saw an article a long time ago that confirms this.

Why? Well, because the graphical fidelity is very underwhelming for a PS4 game? P3 and P4 looked good for PS2 games, and SMT Nocturne looked great. Catherine looked great on the PS3. This engine doesn't look great. It might have been better if Sega had created an engine for them and let them focus on the content.

What?

The game looks great. Were you expecting highly detailed textures with normal maps everywhere and particles flying around? LOL.

Yeah, I can definitely see how some of the muddiness could be YouTube, but not the aliasing. What's strange is the in-game cutscene animations in the trailer seem cleaner.

I never had a problem with P3's visuals. For a PS2 JRPG of the period I thought it looked fine. Nocturne looked stunning, but part of that came down to the graphic style working within the limitations of the hardware and engine.

I'm like 99% sure I heard the same thing. And it wasn't the fake leaked date, it was Atlus US talking about how they are working closely with the dev team this time around to avoid the long wait.

Might be a blend of PS3 and PS4 footage, some footage might be older than others, etc. Could be a variety of things.

Do sites like Play Asia and Nin Nin usually put import pre-orders up for this stuff the date that pre-orders everywhere go up? Wondering if I need to be watching my phone like a hawk tomorrow at work to catch a CE.

Also, nobody should be shitting on the game's graphics, especially considering the beautiful art style.

Also saying "The PS2 games looked like PS2 games!" is complete BS considering FF10 came out in 2001 might we recall while P3 came out in 06 and P4 came out in 08, long after PS3 launched, they were never known for their graphics and anyone who says so is lying out of their mouths

Japanese stuff has a bunch of high pitched VAs as well.

jRPGs were never graphical powerhouses, so I don't know what you guys are smoking.

Give me style and story, and that's all I ask for.

Yeah I wonder when it will go up on AmiAmi given the holiday. Might be looking at Play-Asia...

So is anyone concerned in the slightest that they haven't shown anything relating to social links or a comparable mechanic? I mean, they've shown free roaming after school and working jobs, but a part of me is also scared to just assume that S.Links will be in the game.

Hashino (February 2016):
There will be a similar system to “Social Link.” With the question of how to make communication for the characters of Persona 5 into a driving force, Hashino hopes to see it go a step higher in the human relation part of things than what we saw in the Social Link of Persona 3 and Persona 4.
And we had seen the name of the system back in PV01: Cooperation.

Yeah, Akihiko and Kanji and Dojima were soooo high pitched. I don't know how I coped.

If you thought the JP audio for P4 would lower the pitch of the voices, I have some bad news for you

I have to say, September's a bit later than I had expected (I was thinking August). Still, at least its a date!

And maybe that E3 thing will be the rest of us...anyway, hype hype hype.

Besides what Flux said, they haven't really detailed the extent of the events available in cities and the school, the cafe, or anywhere else. Or even talking to NPCs. Or Persona fusion. Some stuff is still under wraps.

No way in hell it's making it this year in North America. I'd be surprised if we see it before March.

Eh, don't be so sure. They can be rather fast in turnaround at times. I have to imagine they'll be hard at work on it (though Atlus USA does have a lot on its plate, doesn't it?).
