Persona 5 comes out September 15th in Japan

I loved Rie Kugimiya in FMA, but I did find her Rise extremely grating. Laura Bailey's Rise was so charismatic, and felt less cliched than the original version.

I'm currently staring at Amazon.jp. I can wait for the English release, I can wait for the English release, Icanwaitforthe englishreleaaaaassse arrrrrgh
We're gonna make it to E3. Hang in there!

P4's JP VAs are big names in Japan. Especially Rise's. She was a legit selling point for Japanese audience. You can't find the equivalent of that in NA.

CAM CLARKE in full ham mode.

Japanese Rise is like nails to a chalkboard. That's not to say that her VA is bad, though...

...but Rise hurts.

Rise and Chie's VA were painful to listen to. I just loathe that artificial 3 octave higher register. Bailey's was natural.

That Collector's Edition would cost me $200 to get through Tenso, and I'd still need to get an NA copy(ies?) when that's released...

Ugh.

But Rise's Japanese VA is awful. She's easily the worst along with Teddie.

That's your opinion, but Kugimiya Rie was HUGE in Japan. There is a reason she has a song to sing in the game. I have a theory that the character Rise is kind of based on her. Rise is an idol, and her name is kind of similar. (Kujikawa Rise vs Kugimiya Rie)

I think she nailed that part. If she sounds annoying, it's because the character herself is annoying. Let's not mix up the worst character and worst VA. She had to change her performance style during the game (think about how vastly different her voice was before Rise joined the party and after she joined), and she did it perfectly.

Come on man, Kevin Spacey in Advance Warfare /s

He's probably bigger than any star in Japan, but that doesn't mean he's bigger as a VA. Nobody buy AW just for Kevin Spacey's voice, while I'm pretty sure some people in Japan will buy games and blue-ray anime just for Kugimiya Rie.

I'm not a fan of any VA. I'm just saying Japan kind of has a unique VA culture that cannot be found anywhere else in the world, which makes it harder to replicate their works in other language.

Anyone else really really really hoping they release a special PS4 for this? They seem to be more inclined, like the call of duty and star wars ones released.

A red PS4 would be real sexy.

I think I mentioned it before, but I didn't think they could go much bigger with the actors than the ones that were in P4. (almost everyone in the main cast was a A-lister in the industry) Then wow, P5 just proved me completely wrong in this regard. They're literally cherry picking from the pinnacle of the actors' pool.

Fuku Jun, Nana, Miyano, Sugita and Aoi Yuuki in a single title and all with main roles? You'd grab anyone's attention with that, and that's not even the half of the talent they're bringing on board.

It's going to break my heart when we inevitably don't get dual audio. The fact that Ikeda and Sugita are both in this and I will be stuck listening to the (likely good, but still not Japanese VA) dub is going to be so sad. That's not to mention all the other killer names. Put it up as DLC and make me pay for it if I have to Atlus. I will take it however you can get it to me.

The worst sting for me is going to be losing out on Char. Ikeda's too good.

lol from Amazon the PS4 Persona 5 copy is 9504 yen, or ~88USD. And that's before shipping. If I want to pull an import, I'll have to wait til the used market chops up the price a little.

Keep in mind that the price shown there is MSRP + tax and amazon jp almost always chops off exactly 18% from the MSRP before the game comes out.

A couple of unreleased games for reference:

http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B01DBU5T24/
http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B01DLTPQHI/

If they allow this game to be shipped directly overseas, Japanese sales tax will also be cut from the price. By today's exchange rate, the cost by release will be roughly $68~ before shipping.

It's up on nin nin too. And with shipping fees the CE is 8 euros more expensive than on amazon.jp.
Might be even more expensive if you get hit by customs(from my experience it's pretty random when I get hit by them).

Want to look around more before I commit.
Sucks that amazon.jp can't fulfill global preorders, probably waiting around until release isn't an option either those CE might not be around by then anymore but not sure.

Suprised so many people are adamant about a 2017 western release. Persona 4 only took 5 months to get localised, and the series is much bigger now in the west than it was back then. Even if it is a 2017 release I'd assume it'll only be January.

You've also got to remember that this is a far, far bigger game than persona 4, which will undoubtedly will take a much bigger effort to translate, redesign the assets and dub. Not to mention they have to do this for two systems. (which fuels my belief that we might get a further delay if there isn't some compromise for the PS3 version.)

I'm holding on to my December 2016 belief because this was announced mid development and much earlier than other Altus localizations usually do, but there's definitely a strong case to be made for early 2017.

I'm waiting for E3 to see if they will bring the CE to the west. But I fear it won't be up for preorder anymore by then.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think their track record on CE is pretty good for the west, especially for their bigger stuff, like Catherine even had a CE in the west.
I don't think you have to worry about it for P5.

Personally I don't plan on getting any western version so I need to figure out what's the best option, well unless we switched dimensions at they'll announce the western version having dual text/audio ;).

Spring 2017 just seems right for this game. Almost perfect timing, right after the crazy holiday season. Also, if you look at P4's 5 month localization, 5 months would mean it would be released he next year anyways.

The game is still niche in NA. A little separation from a game heavy holiday season would probably help it commercially.

If the localization team has been sitting around on their hands instead of being proactive and translating as content comes in I'm going to be rightfully disappointed.

When you miss your original release date by almost 2 years there's no reason no to work hand in had with the localization teams for as close to a simultaneous release as you can manage.

I love Persona and I love-love Atlus, but not having any concrete word about releases outside of Japan or ever whether or not the PS3 version is still gong to translated is embarrassing.

If they announce a western CE and it's the exact same thing, artbook, 5 disc, etc...I'll get it and cancel my Amazon Japan order once I have the English one preordered. But I won't do it until that time.

I kinda doubt NA will get the same thing tbh... A 5-disc soundtrack for the whole series and a nice artbook..? I'll eat crow if I'm wrong, but the bias towards the JP market is real, even if they eventually sell more copies in western markets. NA will prob get a 5 TRACK music disc and a 15 page artbook with some DLC...

How is the track record on CE parity?
I know Catherine was the same from a friend. And also Ni no Kuni(surprisingly but totally awesome, really the book is the only collectable that I like) but that's a different company.
But then I usually don't really buy CEs.

Ugh.

Are you in Canada? Or are you getting the Famitsu DX Pack? ´Cause if Tenso charge you 70 bucks in fees and whatnot, I´d recommend another proxy service.

I was a bit concerned at first with the Anniversary Edition because I thought it might sell out fast, but most retailers are stocking it, so it will probably have a bunch to go around.

Next week I´m gonna secure my pre-order for the DX Pack with 3D Crystal, too bad there´s no pic of it yet, but the one I got for P4D is awesome so I don´t see why this one is going to be different. Gonna set me back a good chunk of cash, but good thing I sold some stuff on ebay recently, got the funds to cover most of it.

I'm not sure about P4, but the CE for P3 in Japan came with headphones like the protagonist wore. I'm certain we didn't get that in NA haha.

Preordered LE from AmiAmi. Soundtrack, DLC Costumes, PS4 theme and artbook can't resist.

I'll get the NA Standard edition eventually unless the LE is significantly different.

Nin-nin has the famitsu packs up.
The 3D Crystal Set is tempting but it's like
do I really need another crystal after dancing all night? But I really just want those
figures and clear poster. (and THEME)

Pretty much this.
Though I'll prob still buy the NA LE because it's P5. Been waiting years for this game.

Europe got a different CE for Catherine. As for Ni no Kuni, the european one is missing a coin and some postcards/prints.

Considering Atlus USA dont have programmers on staff its up to Atlus Japan. But after so long if they didnt work on it already they really need to re examine their workflow and set up as to what caused 8 years for a mainline sequel and so on.

I'm not sure on the progress they've made but I would expect a certain amount has for them to have an e3 showing. I expect they knhave a set date for release and is now only dependent on the date they have decided on.
