Uncharted 4 spoiler free early copy impressions

Watching movie versions of the PS3 trilogy to catch up lol. Hella excited- won't be able to get it until at least Monday morning tho :(

This game is undoubtedly divisive in some of the design decisions.
.

Is it though? It think to be actually divisive there needs to be a pretty substantial number of people on both sides of whatever issue is in question. Given the reviews and early players reviews are over overwhelmingly positive I'm struggling to see how the design decisions are turning out to be divisive.

I asked this a while back, but how are the jungle areas? Are they huge and dense with foliage? MGSV disappointed me tremendously in that department, as the only real "jungle" area was the one they showed at TGS near the mansion.

Called my store, they said they called me a few hours ago, the read back my phone number and it was wrong... Now I'm at work the rest of the night and can't get it and they only have 6 left.

Brb gonna flip some tables.
A convinced a good friend to go pick it up for me. He sent me a pic confirming he got it. I'm so happy right now lol he got the last one too!

With all this talk of U2 in here, I'd reccomend people go back and play it after 4. Even if you played 2 right before 4. I was mid game 2 when I got UC4 and jumped right in. Was having a blast, loving it... now after resuming after 4, it feels totally dated and lacking in comparison in almost every way. I'll always love the series and what they did with the 3 prior game but if 4 is truly the last. They went out on top like fucking champs!

I don't think so. Still looks like 30FPS to me.

The main menu looks boring and lifeless that I'm barely on it.
By unlocked framerate I mean it runs at like 200-300 fps (no, it's not a typo) and that stresses the system a lot:

AC Unity also has the same issue, but I expect more from 1st party devs (dat QA tho)... this should be a priority fix for patch 1.02.
Especially considering the fact that ND matchmaking is notoriously slow and the summer is coming soon. :P

Yeah I just opened the game and it doesn't look like it's unlocked.

Man, I just did the intro. It was really good. It was really different from TLOU so it wasn't really comparable. It's different from every UC ever, it doesn't even feel like an intro. I had watery eyes at the end. The game is way more mature in tone. It's Uncharted but Drake has grown up a little.

Can't wait.

Neil is being reductive and cheeky here with his statement, but it's not as if he's not aware that he's doing story stuff that has garnered valid criticisms in terms of pacing, more grounded execution, etc.

Thank you Neil. There are plenty of bang bang thank you ma'am games aka CODs, BFs etc for those who don't want a story or just mediocre story that they can rush thru to get to action. I am glad there are devs who make games that appeal to more mature audience or who like slower paced games with a well thought out story and of course stellar gameplay.

Yeah, ok.

Sounds like it is made for me. Thank you Neil & ND for sticking to your vision.

The Jeep is so damn fun to drive around the massive planes of Madagascar. When you really pick up speed, and hand brake drift around the very precarious edge of a cliff with a beautiful vista beyond, just awesome. As is high speed sliding through mud in general. Probably the most satisfying vehicle in a game of this kind, especially since the sense of weight and controls are pretty much perfect. Warthog you have been topped.

The only thing I'd change is making the handbrake stronger so it allowed for more immediate and aggressive drifts.

Don't worry guys, the "slow"ness of the beginning is nothing to worry about. The game is full of fan service and interesting things to see/do even if you're not in combat. I teared up(tears of happiness) from the fan service. So much soul.

I know most of you that have played the game are recommending to play on normal the first time; but playing the previous games on hard/crushing was so much better than playing on normal that I'm going to have to play on hard the first time through Uncharted 4. If I feel that it's hurting the gameplay I'll just drop it down to normal.
