Sony E3 2016 Press Conference: June 13 at 6 PM PT/ 9PM ET

God of War 4 would definitely be a show closer if it's there. I could see the opener being Sony Bend's game, a new Horizon demo, or the Infinite War demo even though that would obviously annoy some. That's going to be in there somewhere. Either to kick things off or in the usual third party section of the show. I guess there's always Crash, but who really knows what's going on with that.

Personally i'd like to see them continue to give attention to Japanese games at the show. Persona 5 should be there in some form. I don't really expect them to demo it on stage because JRPG's just aren't something you can really demo for five or so minutes. But a trailer with a US release makes sense. I'd also like to see Gravity Rush 2 get some attention. That's the type of game Sony should be demoing. It's obviously a smaller budget title compared to most of what's shown during conference, but it's such a cool looking game and it seems like something that some overlook. A quick demo showing of Kat's abilities could sell some on it

It seems like such a perfect game to push with the current movie obsession with superheroes and with how people are clamoring for Sucker Punch to do another superhero game. SCIA should really get behind Kat the same way Sony Japan has. She's a great character to push with all the attention female characters are getting these days. And Sony is really making more games with female leads than anyone else these days (they've currently got GR2, Horizon, and Detroit in development).

Since Gopher was suggesting that they're likely throwing caution to the wind and are just going to show everything they have off rathre than wait or save something for other conferences. Here's my prediction of general conference layout (in regards to the bigger first party titles/announcements):

-Opening: Horizon (with a set release date)
-Dead Don't Ride
-The Last Guardian (with a set release date)
-Dreams (beta date announced)
-Crash Bandicoot announced via licensing deal or IP acquisition (please, LOL)
-PS1 BC announced and/or to celebrate Crash's 20th anniversary, a Crash 1-3+CTR Anniversary remaster (graphical/framerate overhaul similar to Halo anniversary) that will release this year.
-Continuing on from the PS1 nostalgia, leading to talking about GT and its legacy, and then going into a GT Sport trailer (a proper, decent trailer done with care and consideration using their latest build hopefully, not that shit we got a few days ago)
-Sucker Punch's new game.
-God of War IV gameplay demo (which looks terrific and is running on a regular ps4)
-PSNeo announcement
-Closer: God of War IV Neo version trailer (that includes gameplay) that melts our faces off.

Oh also, that JRPG2 is about due for a reveal as well. Damn. Honestly, Gopher's limerick is throwing all things out of whack. Usually I'd be extremely conservative about my predictions. Honestly think this conference is going to be highly unpredictable in terms of format/order if what he said is true.

People are fatigued with the future/near future shooter setting, especially when BF1 seems like a breath of fresh air and expected IW to be something much crazier when space combat ect leaked. There is nothing hive mind about thinking the CoD reveal was boring as fuck compared to BF1. At least Titanfall 2 prolly has mechas up the whazoo.

Am I not allowed to say that they need to blow it out of the park to get any real hype going if the game sells X million copies anyway? I guess I need to only rag on Dreams then.
I guess the Modern Warfare Remaster, Destiny, and Halo 5 are massive flops then because people are "fatigued" with future/near future shooters.
CoD and Battlefield are 2 different kind of shooters so it's not rare that people get both. Again, hype and sales are for people who are looking for a clear winner.

That gif makes me want a Superman game more than anything to be honest. The fluidity in how she jumps right into flying looks so damn satisfying to do.

Eh Kat is so much more charming than Superman. Seeing GR2 makes me so excited for the game. It was the best game on Vita for me and has the potential to be one of Sony's great IPs in my opinion. It is the most Ghibli like game I've played. Well there is Ni No Kuni, but I thought the world and characters in Gravity Rush had more of the Ghibli charm.

I didn't expect any Shenmue III at E3 this year, but the timing of that tweet featuring Yu, Gio and Adam is very curious indeed.

Maybe they're finalising plans on how they're going to announce the HD collection at the presser?
Nah. They'd be meeting with SEGA if that were the case, as any Shenmue HD Collection is fully in their hands.

Likely a social visit, or just a progress meeting (as having such a meeting at E3 would be harder due to busy schedules). Remember this from before PSX last year? Nothing came of it either.

If Shenmue appears at E3, great. If not, no biggie. Not like we were told otherwise or teased about it.

Ok guys, I'm a bored student....so I've come up with a plausible narrative for Sony E3 2016....Here goes....

I expect Shawn Layden to be wheeled out onto the Sony stage by Reggie and Phil in a glorious spectacle of shredded Nintendo E3 invites and pulsating MAUs – both will then proceed to attach themselves to the auditorium roof to be used a human piñatas post conference. Announcing Vib Ribbon 2 with furious hand gestures, Shawn will begin dancing in a very sexually charged manner while Yu Suzuki claps and throws Shenmue 3 Kickstarter money at him. While this spectacle is occurring, Shenmue 1&2 HD will flash across the screen and the audience will cheer with an applause not seen since the Xbox One reveal.

Next up will be Shuhei who opens the 1st party segment of the conference by crowdsurfing in a Crash Bandicoot costume. Escorted up to the stage by a bevy of lapdancers, he will proceed to tell the audience how happy it makes him to be able to finally announce the next chapter in the Crash Bandicoot franchise, exclusively for PS4 and developed by the ICO team in SCI Japan, who send a personalized message from Tokyo promising to have it ready in time for the 2024 Olympics. Audience is now salivating.

Following this joyous announcement, Nate Fox of Sucker Punch will emerge from the shadows and deliver a very unhinged speech about how Spider-Man defined his life, which ends with him being dragged off the stage by security as the trailer begins. Title promises PS2-era webswinging, an open world Manhattan and an exclusive arrangement with Activision in which Sony has eternal rights to the games – Bobby Kotick appears on videolink from his lair in Transylvania to tell the audience how much their money means to him and how he will endeavor to deliver more microtransactions in Destiny 2 – videolink is interrupted mid conversation as murmurings of Sports, Sports, Sports can be heard. A Wii U can be seen flying across the room and Andrew Wilson just stands there grinning…for 5 minutes straight.

To mark the end of the 1st party presentation, Hideo Kojima takes to the stage and giddily announces his brand new title, Quiet Hills, developed exclusively for PS4. The screen cuts to a magnificent trailer featuring Melissa McBride sobbing for 2 minutes. Whilst this trailer is playing, screams can be heard from the audience as Kojima and Jim Sterling begin to waltz around the stage in shared hatred of Konami.

Adam Boyes’ list for E3 2016 begins blaring across every screen in the room, and as he graces the stage hand in hand with Andrew House, No.1 appears – Agent appears on the screen and once the trailer ends, a wrestling ring appears on the stage with Sam Houser and Leslie Benzies motionless. As they begin beating the shit out of eachother with unopened Playstation Vitas, Adam moves to No.2 – Half Life 3. Gabe Newell walks out, saying absolutely nothing, and a trailer appears behind him. The audience at this stage are begging for water and being tended to by Nintendo reps screaming fuck Zelda. Gabe promises a speedy development, and states it will be released before 2030. No 3 begins flashing, and Mark Cerny begins to crawl frantically along the ceiling while announcing a supercharged Playstation Neo – starting at $399 with God of Wars 4 available as a launch title, the trailer is 3 minutes of Kratos atop Mount Olympus murdering everyone in sight. The audience has 1st degree burns from the visuals.

Andrew House take the stage to close tonight’s festivities – he begins by stating that Playstation is the best place to play now, tomorrow, and forever. He unties Phil and Reggie from the ceiling and congratulates them both on being important players in the videogame industry. While both are blindsighted from the kind words, a vat of honey is emptied from the ceiling and massive amounts of African bees are released into the auditorium as House laughs manically. As the audience begins screaming in terror, a figure in a white dress can be seen on the stage surrounded by bees and attacking any Sony fans in sight – survivors of the event are positive they heard the figure screaming ‘’Have you seen Titanfall’’

You're only setting yourself up for disappointment then. It's gone.

At Sonys last E3 conference they literally made dreams come true by announcing 3 games that no one ever thought would happen. Duke Nukem forever actually came out, the new Doom actually came out.

I really don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that Agent eventually comes out. I don't think it will happen at this E3 but at this point I think anything is possible.

I'm very confident in my prediction that The Last Guardian will be 2016 and Horizon will be the first half of 2017. Personally, I'm way more hyped for Horizon and would prefer the reverse. But it's not happening. Still a very strong year for Sony with Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted 4, No Man's Sky, and The Last Guardian as the big console exclusives.

And GT Sport!
And Gravity Rush 2!

GR2 better hit this year...

I really don't see them closing the show with anything other than God of War 4. maybe Sony Bend, but it won't get the big pop that Cory Barlog coming up on stage will.

Don't they seem to enjoy closing with a lengthy game demo (The Last of Us, Uncharted 4 in the past)? I could definitely see a brand new Horizon or Last Guardian demo closing the show. But yeah, my guess would still be God of War 4.

I'm expecting a middling conference with a few standout reveals.

However, I'm expecting e3 itself to be quite good with real indepth footage of Sony's first party line up for the next 2 years.

It's possible they show off the demo, and the end with a 'oh, and one more thing' moment, signalling God of War 4.

Is SE allow to show Rise of the Tomb Raider running on PS4? I almost forgot about this game., hopefully it's still targeted to be released this year.

It's still on track this year.

The first E3 details mentioned that they'll have some exciting TR details to share. So TR PS4 may be part of that. And i'd think that they could show the PS4 version. That would be one hell of a contract that MS signed if it completely barred Square from ever marketing or showing the PS4 version.

Sony will have a good E3 from my perspective if that Spider-Man game is real. Other than that, well its not like they are announcing anything for this year. Plus if they announce big games for next year, chances are it'll get delayed to 2018 anyway.

Hope it'll be fun like last year at least.

Best wishes.

I'm playing Gravity Rush Remastered and enjoying it SO much more than the Vita version (just think it plays better on a TV, can actually see where I'm going lol) So now I'm really looking forward to Gravity Rush 2.

Has anything been confirmed that it's releasing this year? I haven't followed anything on it because I kind of struggled with the Vita controls but now that I'm really enjoying the PS4 version, I'm hyped lol

Seriously?!?! I missed that... have a link?

Last year Toyama said that since this is supposed to be "the year of Playstation" (those were his words) that they were going to try to get it out at some point. But he gave no time framerate for when they'd be this year.

I think Square will talk about RoTR on PS4 even before E3. They hinted at that on a recent blog post.

October release to go with the 20th anniversary is a good bet

Thank you! Well hopefully at least a new trailer and release date next month.

Yep, I do not own a Vita so GRR was my first experience with the IP. One of my favorite games of the year. I am hyped for GR2.

Yeah, I could see a quick blog post and then move on type deal. I am interested in the price and if DLC comes with it.

I think it may be handled like Ratchet and Clank was handled last year. It'll be given a new trailer, release date and price roughly a week before E3. I hope so anyway. It deserves the spotlight before all those big boys at E3 takeover.

$40 with all the DLC or burst

Ratchet date was at PSX tho

Are you talking about this?

We've got some other exciting demos lined up on the show floor, but we'll save those updates for our Road To E3 Part 2 blog, which will feature some exciting Tomb Raider news and details on a few new games that our team has been hard at work on. Meanwhile, be sure to follow our official Square Enix social media channels where we'll be posting news before, during and after E3 2016!

http://www.na.square-enix.com/us/blog/road-e3-2016-part-1

It would be smart for them to talk about TR now instead of waiting until E3 where it'll be overshadowed. I'm not sure what else they can do to help it gain attention. It had to be rough for them seeing how U4 performed in its debut week. It sold more in its first week in the UK than TR 2013 did. And it pulled that off on one platform that has a significantly smaller fanbase than the combined platforms for TR 2013. So that's not even talking about what Rise did.

Yeah I can see that happening. Definitely want to give it some exposure, especially if Gopher is right about their press conference this year.

Interesting point to bring up. As others have said, it's coming this fall as soon as the exclusivity deal ends. I think there's zero chance that Sony is going to give it much, if any time however at their conference given the situation.

Could be featured in a sizzle reel right before the conclusion of the conference.

Thanks for these, hate to see one of my favorite franchise being treated this way. Lara deserves better.

I think that makes sense.

As good as the Tomb Raider reboot was and this game is said to be, Sony's probably a little annoyed, especially depending on how ROTTR does come to PS4. Maybe Square Enix is hinting at the PS4 version being a definitive edition with all the DLC and a lower price point?

SCIA should really get behind Kat the same way Sony Japan has. She's a great character to push with all the attention female characters are getting these days.

I don't know if it's an intentional push for female characters so much as companies realizing that good games can sell with female protagonists and not just in this decade. Stuff like Tomb Raider, Perfect Dark, and starting from when everybody knew Samus was a girl, Metroid, were selling long before any concentrated push, and I don't think there actually is one.

I didn't actually get Gravity Rush Remastered because Sony Canada didn't release it physically at all here (no, not paying more to import), but man the sequel looks good.
