Nah
Nah
Explain it in Evangelion then ill understand this noise
It's all Shinji's fault.

So we might get...
PS4 Neo - Fall 2016?
Xbox Scorpion - Fall 2017?
PS5 - Fall 2018/2019?
I'm less interested in what this means for the Neo/PS5 and more what this does for the NX.
Good. Companies fight and want to put out strong hardware. It's only better for consumers.
I don't understand how they expect people to realistically drop 400 to 500 dollars every year on one of these things.
Console market with crash if this happens.
Nintendo: Better Shinji

If true i would go back to xbox! Wanted to stay with playstation, but if the new xbox is indeed that much better i will go back!
Article states that MS was caught off guard about the release of NEO after GDC. NEO could possibly have a 8-12 month head start.
It's why I have no idea why MS would announce this at E3. They'd crater their sales and they'd hand over all the mind and marketshare to PS4. And then pray that people jump on the new box.
So we might get...
PS4 Neo - Fall 2016?
Xbox Scorpion - Fall 2017?
PS5 - Fall 2018/2019?
Exactly my first thought!Laying waste to the ps4k. Scorpio rules all!

The Neo is likely going to be counted as a PS4 sale. So sales threads will still be pretty predictable, though I suppose it if Xbox One and Scorpio are counted separately, maybe predicting the sales split between those 2 could be interesting I guess.I don't think anyone is expecting Scorpio to outsell or come close to the PSNeo in anyway; MS will never be able to top that ~1 year head-start the Neo will enjoy, coupled with the fact that Xbox is dead outside NA/UK.
What will happen is that DF and Sales threads will be more entertaining now; performance threads became predictable (PC>PS4>XB1) and sales threads have gotten stale with only two main consoles on the market.
All I know is that if what I like > what I don't like then power is important and if what I don't like is > what I like then power is unimportant.

so peter north (ps4k) has weaker specs but the actual output we'll see in the games will be better?

Yes and don't forget that the specs the PS4 had was not what they were telling developers, 8GB GDDR5 was only known to a select few if memory serves.this is exactly how the first rumors started for 1 and 4. that the xbox would be much more powerful

I don't see this happening. Not in the slightest.
Sony and MS will probably bump their noses so hard by the decrease in sales for these upcoming versions, that they'd probably even delay the PS5/Xbone3 to 2020-21.
I find it mind blowing that so many people here believe that your mainstream gamer is going to buy the supposedly "updated" consoles on a whim. Replacing the current one's they just bought two years ago.
It'll never top PS2/PS4 sales.

Where have you been? The ~0.5TF difference between the base XB1 and PS4 was being played up before either launch and have been the constant ammo of warriors.
We're talking about a much larger gap here, but teraflops have been the pointed pieces of empassioned defense for quite some time now.
Maybe they think it will slow NEO sales by offering a premium box in the following year.Article states that MS was caught off guard about the release of NEO after GDC. NEO could possibly have a 8-12 month head start.

I don't know about a crash, but I do know that, personally, if this is the new normal, I'm picking one ecosystem and sticking with it for good. Which I'm assuming is the point of this. Sony and MS want you to stay locked into their brand forever.
What, no, it sounds corny as hell. Like a second rate night club, or an Axe body spray scent.I hope they call it Xbox Scorpio. It sounds great.
Buying more shit is always better for consumers, yeah.
I find it mind blowing that so many people here believe that your mainstream gamer is going to buy the supposedly "updated" consoles on a whim.
I mean the beauty is you won't have too. If it's backwards and forward compatible then you can upgrade as you see fit.I don't understand how they expect people to realistically drop 400 to 500 dollars every year on one of these things.

How the fuck is this gonna work?
Make games for a 1tf and a 6tf box at the same time?

Sounds like a bs leak to keep people from buying a neo.
1) there is not going to be a new graphics Tech in 2017 to be 50% more powerful than neo and fit within console price points
.
Why would MS kill any potential sales by announcing a system more than a year in advance? If Scorpio isn't supposed to be released until late 2017, it makes zero sense to announce it this year at all. Their best bet would be to announce it early next year to try and deflate some of the hype surrounding the PS4K.
As for the 6TFLOP part...I'll believe it when I see it.
No one is realistically expecting that. NEO is for enthusiasts. The OG PS4 won't stop selling at all and it allows Sony to increase market share and profits. Eventually over time the older model is phased out but it doesn't matter because people can still play games on it if they bought thanks to the mandates Sony has.
Also the iterative route is probably better on game development than a full console gen/recycle every 5 years.
