Pokémon Sun & Moon | Info and speculation thread

Much as I like those 'confidential' starter concepts I'm 99% sure they aren't real.

Whoever did them did a good job researching the previously revealed ones, but sometimes forgot these concept arts are supposed to be for the modeler.

There's no info about what the back legs of the owl looks like, there's no bead count on the mermaid seals hair things, and the cat wrestler has no accurate front pose to base off, it's leaning too forward.

I really hope we have 120+ new Pokemon this time. Too few in X/Y, and not very high quality - especially considering it came after a gen as good as 5. Killed a lot of my enthusiasm for it.
Conversely, I loved the Gen VI Pokemon. I'll happily take another ~70 or so high quality designs over the 156 mostly terrible looking ones of Gen V.

Why so much gen 5 hate? Gen 5 and 6 are probably my favorite two design wise. So much memorable designs. Gen 3 is awesome as well, best starting trio.

I don't know, none of the designs really stood out to me and the ones that did are because of how ugly/stupid they are and/or because of a wasted cool concept. Only like 3 Pokemon from gen V I actually really like and would use over others.

I can't say why I hated most of gen V's pokes, I just did. Even if I had the entire gen V Dex to choose from I still couldn't put together a team of 6 that I liked. And it didn't help that I couldn't get old Pokemon to play through B/W's main game. In fact, I think it made me more bitter about those designs since I was forced to use and stare at them.

Gen V is very divisive. Based on what I've seen in most Pokemon communities online, you either love it or hate it.

With that said, 'so much' hate? My post is the only negative one in the last several pages lol.

Got Sun pre-ordered.
I think I'll go with Sun too at the moment..

I'm probably going with Sun - I always go with the "red" version at first.
You basic.

Don't really care for either legend for once so I'm waiting to see the version exclusives.

So what do people think the gym types will be? I think it would be interesting to share no types with the XY leaders.

1) Normal
2) Flying
3) Poison
4) Fire
5) Ghost
6) Dragon
7) Steel
8) Water

1) Grass
2) Bug
3) Flying
4) Fire
5) Rock
6) Psychic

I've seen this floating around a few places. That Rowlet evo is sweet, but I hope it's fake due to Litten and Poplio's evos being garbage.

This isn't that good of a fake (aside from Popplio's evo), but I enjoy how Litten evolves into one of the Cheetahmen.

I need Rowlet to be a speedy Physical attacker with a nice design and hidden ability for my Competitive team and personal starter for each Gen. Please let Rowlet be the Pokémon I've been waiting for.

http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Ice_Shard_(move)

The user flash-freezes chunks of ice and hurls them at the target. This move always goes first.

Rowlet is doomed. This move from [a Pokemon] will OHKO Rowlet's final evo unless its hidden ability is thick fat or something crazy like that.

Will basically hard counter Rowlet's final evo. Even a Pursuit off Weavile will likely do a decent chunk of damage when Rowlet pt 3 switches out. Bird Pokemon don't usually have the best defenses unless they're specifically designed to have them, and we'd likely know by now if that was the case, since Rowlet would have sprouts of armor or something.

So the prof. is an expert in Pokemon moves. I wonder if he'll be the move relearner/deleter. That would be convenient esp. if he's able to recall EVERYTHING including moves a pre-evo learns that the evo doesn't learn (provided that level requirements are met).

That happens a lot with stone evolutions. For example Ludicolo only learns four moves naturally while Lombre can learn stuff like Hydro Pump. IIRC, in past gens you couldn't get Ludicolo to relearn Hydro Pump if you ever deleted it.

I thought X/Y fixed that and it kept a log of what your Pokemon knew so you can always re-learn it?

Maybe I'm remembering wrong.

I didn't do any breeding in XY (still haven't finished it) but you may be right. I think they made some improvements so you could get back egg moves. Not sure if pre-evo moves were among them but they could be.

ICE BEAM: The pokemon.

I made it work with Dragonite.

I made it work with Dragonite and if it has a good hidden ability like Greninja I'll make it work.

I know. I love Weavile. I need another speedy attacker.

I need a starter Pokémon speedy attacker that I like.

WeaknesseS dosent bother me as long as it has the stats, design, and hidden ability I need to make it work.

Also if it turn out to be part ground/grass and if Gamefreak releases a priority Rock move this gen and if it learns it that'll be nice.
I've been thinking of all the posibilities for Rowlet.

The only move data kept is the 4 moves a Pokemon knows plus its 4 egg moves.

The move reminder gives you access to the current creatures level up moves up to its level and the 4 egg moves but some Pokemon had moves added at level 1 in their level up table some of which are duplicates of higher level moves. For example no longer do you need to get Volcorona to level 100 for Firery Dance, just use the move reminder.

Well there's always a fast starter (at least base 100 speed), and the only one I don't see it being this gen is Popplio. Rowlett might as well be the fast one since giving it bulk isn't going to help that much with a 4x ice weakness.

You skated by on dragon being an intrinsically good typing. You won't with Rowlett.

I'm well aware of all of Grass types flaws. If it gets the stats I hope and a hidden ability worth a damn I'll make it work in the competitive scene.

Back when I was asking for Weavile builds I constantly got "insert Pokémon name here" and Mach Punch or some other move. My Weavile goes on a freaking tear whenever I bring him in. Ice is also one of those types that has more weaknesses than it should but it works.

Disappointed that the Pokemon on the covers are legendaries once again.

What were you expecting? They're not gonna do starters since that would make one of the starters the 'true' starter when they release the third version. They can't do a random Pokemon because that would be well... Random. Legendaries are the best fit.

And why this reaction now? We've known they were the cover pokemon for a month.

5 move gimmick incoming.

Everything is a gimmick when you want it to be!

I'd just like to point out how absolutely wonderful the trailer music is.

Starting at 1:00 in the announcement video, the melody shifts into this perfect competitive jaunt (replete with Hawaiian bongos!), that really paint a picture for the feelings the game will evoke. It then drifts into a section that puts a dreamlike spin on the grandiosity of the adventure - oddly beautiful for the video's focus being on the cute starters.

It then of course goes back into the remix of one Pokemon's most recognizable refrains, before charging into my absolute favorite part at 1:44. The four blasts of the horn announcing this dramatic passage that suggests you're way in over your head.

I love it <3 I'm so excited to hear the full soundtrack in five months!

Really hoping the main game is a step up from XY. First gen in which i didnt even bother to finish the game.

Got to Lumioise City and just dropped the game.

As a fan of many mons genre I am really insulted that people use "Digimon" on something they don't like on Pokemon. Shows they don't know a lot about Digimon.

See, Digimon evolves into three categories - husbando, waifu, or mecha. Rarely, two of three.

Speaking of Team Flare and XY's problems, they really should've done something with Malva. I mean, she just casually goes "oh yeah I was part of Team Flare" and nothing came of it.

A member of the Elite Four was a member of the villain team and nothing important comes of it? Hell, I barely even realized she was the newscaster you keep seeing. That may mean she wasn't that high ranking (which is itself bizarre, you'd think an ELITE FOUR member would be a high ranking team member) but still, what a wasted opportunity.

Agreed, I was surprised when I learned that Malva was a member of Team Flare and was loyal to Lysandre but I was just asking myself. "Where were you the whole time?"

Team Flare had a lot of interesting characters but the game doesn't do anything with them.

That was Lysandre's plan, the rest of Team Flare was only interested in gathering more wealth ad power for themselves, even through the destruction of humanity. Also, as you admit, Lysandre's bit was only tacked on at the very end.

Yeah the whole Lysandre was not done well as you battle him 3 times in a short span which just felt jarring as past villains where better spread out.

I also didn't get his goofy get up at the end...what exactly was it suppose to do?

Which version are y'all going to get?

Both version.

Don't really care just as long Dark type get a gym, it's stupid that they still don't have one.

I also want the gym leader to play an active role in the story or at least have a strong personality as X and Y gym leaders barely made an impact.

Disappointed that the Pokemon on the covers are legendaries once again.

It's been that way since 2, there's no real reason to go back to starters on the box again as legendary can play a bigger role in the story.

I hope the battle music is an improvement from XY's. Ichinose was mostly absent during gen 6, wasn't he?

Barring the gym leader battle music, X and Y music weren't bad though they failed to live up to gen 5 music.

In the case of Rowlett's typing, maybe that berry that nullifies super effective Ice moves might help? Or maybe a sting Secret Ability? Rowlett's might also be saved by a change in typing, but it's looking like it'll turn part-Ground if it changes typing, keeping that 4x Ice Weakness.

So have we discusesed the idea of the strange souvenir being transferable to Sun/moon? It has a tiki esque design so I think it was clearly foreshadowing this regions theme but I wonder if it will actually do something in this gen

Not these looking better than what we'll get. Since black/white the final starters have been hideous. Greninja is an exception

I imagine you can't since you need Bank to transfer.
