Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 reviews and benchmarks

Placed an order for the MIS GTX 1080 Gaming X as soon as I got the email that it was in stock. Instantly got an out of stock email. Oh well.

Anyone had experience with 1 day shipping on newegg? I had an order ship at 1pm today, is it liable to be here tomorrow? Coming from CA to the eastcoast seems pretty far.

that MSI pricing still just seems weird to me...

the Gigabyte G1 has better clocks out of the box and is $70 cheaper...do they think their cooling solution is worth the extra $70?

Dunno about the east coast, but I'm in CA and always get next day with Newegg even when I choose 3-day. It's nice.

There is a shortage of cards and people will pay pretty much whatever they ask. Supply, meet demand.

I guess so

I'm just wanting to get a 1070 which will be pretty impossible as it is...I just hope the Strix or FTW prices aren't as bad

(knowing my luck they will be)

Honestly can't justify paying $720 for one of these cards when from all what we've heard so far they all overclock about the same on air. Just waiting for Amazon to ship my G1 glad I locked in that $611 price.

The upside to that is it makes me feel better about going for the 'lesser' gigabyte g1 or EVGA SC at £550-ish vs £620 for founder editions.

They popped back up. Grabbed one. Fate.

Edit: It was up for a nanosecond, but luckily I edit all my info the first time and was ready to go.

Never even got an in stock email... :(
Ah. I didn't get an email from Newegg either. I got an email from nowinstock.net . A direct link to their gtx 1080 page http://www.nowinstock.net/computers/videocards/nvidia/gtx1080/

Lol. I've been refreshing every so often and I didn't even see it go up. Maybe this is a sign that I should hold off for now.

I remember GamersNexus liquid cooled their FE and there was still a limit at 2.1GHZ

Liquid cooling wouldn't do much on this card, it's not like the problem is heat.

Yeah, it seems like it's hitting a wall somewhere according to this data.

At any rate, it seems to me that the 1080 at 2050MHz outperforms a hybrid-cooled Titan X at a risky 1400MHz OC by a fair margin so I'm 90% certain I'll be going with a 1080. The only thing I have to wait for now is for nVidia to enable Iray on the 1080/1070.

Nice! Is this the one that has RGBs or is that the Extreme version?

They both have RGB.

Temps and OC results, STAT

No throttling, can hear the fans spin but can't hear it over the game or traffic outside as it goes past.

Edit: Set fans to silent, temps remain the same, still no throttling.

My 1080 SC is finally out for delivery! Hopefully someone's at my apartment right now to sign for it :|

Kind of wondering if I should cancel my G1 and FTW preorders, or if I should just sell the SC to someone more impatient than I am...

Where did you order from?

Read it instead?

GPU Boost actually got him to 2050MHz at 68C Max and fans at 49% Max without any overclocking.

Overclocked he was able to reach 2113.5MHz at 70C and 50% Max fans.

Certainly seems like NVidia handicapped this card.

Seems like the inherent limitations of moving to 16nm, that everyone should have seen coming, but everyone chose to believe instead that having a ton of power pins and phases would allow EXTREME INSANEXXX overclocks, even though the highly qualified engineers at nVidia determined 8 pins was sufficient for the limitations of the silicon.

Would a 1080 be worth getting, it feels like I never heard mention of 980s once the 980ti came out so is that expected to happen again this time? How much more is the ti version expected to cost based on previous gens?

Most likely. There may also be something to be said about NVidia's reference cooler being better than usual. It may have allowed a higher stock clock than they would have set on older reference designs. And since we view overclocking potential as % above stock, it could be coloring perception a bit.

Regardless, extra power pins don't seem to serve any purpose unless we see a Custom BIOS that allows people to reach 2200+.

The Evga SC Gaming ACX 3.0 and Gaming ACX 3.0 are is up on newegg. Just successfully placed an order for the SC Gaming ACX. Got an actual order confirmation email instead of an Out of Stock email this time.

SC Gaming ACX http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16814487244

Edit: Whoops. Only the SC is still in stock as of this edit anyhow.

Edit 2: Lol, and now the SC is Out of Stock. Oh well.

Thanks for this! I was able to order the SC. My watch has ended, my wait has begun.

The 980 last time was a pointless product with the existence of the 970, the difference between the 1070 and 1080 this time seems to be bigger, even if the former is still a much better value proposition. Who knows how much the ti would be. The popularity of the 1080 FEs isn't exactly going to deter Nvidia from trying something like this again.
