Gamestop uses that date when they add a new sku to the system and they don't have a firm release date. This is very common with Gamestop. I would not read too much into that date, the price however is usually not a place holder type of thing, so that may have a bit more weight if this is actually real.

But it's obviously just a placeholder price, just look at the release date.

That has to be fake. MS would be stupid to have a 2TB model as one, the only slim model, and two, cost as much as it would have if there was no price drop.

Old model stays at current price but gets big deals to clear remaining stock.
Slim model replaces current models. $299 500GB and $349 1TB. Announce a 2TB model for $399 for August.
Completely ditch the Kinect bundle and offer good pack in games with stand alone Kinect for $99.

Nobody is dumb enough to buy a current gen system for that price. That is either an elite controller bundle like some were saying or a whole new XBOX.
What about if 2TB is the slim model at $399 and that is the new standard model?

I kinda want them to go completely nuts:
Current xbone - 200 dollars (until stock remains)
Slim - 250 dollars (and after the current model is done for, 200)
That way at least I'm sure they could announce 3 different scorpios SKUs if they like that they wouldn't tank their sales.

As long as you don't go into looking it to be disappointing I think you'll be fine.
They've had great E3 conferences the past few years and no reason to think this won't be.

From what I heard I think people might be shocked at the Slim Xbox One but I'm hoping for more great surprises too.
