Mass shooting at Orlando gay nightclub [50 dead, 53 injured]

I work at a company that employs a large number of gay individuals in Orlando and there were quite a few people missing this morning. I can only hope they were sick and we're not involved with this.

But 50 is awful. One is more than enough. I plan on giving blood after work to help out with anything.
 
Bataclan 2.0. Fucking God awful.

It's even more frightening because the perpetrators are actually born and raised in the West. How do you even fight that?

So he wasn't Arab. Name is of South Asian origin. Wonder what his motivation was.

Just heard that 50+ have died, this is a horrible tragedy. Condolences to victims and their families.

but despite whatever statistics you might consider,even if guns are not the problem here,would it really be that bad to make gun access more difficult for people that want to do arm?

if you have to groups of children that hates another group and keep throwing stones at them, while the long terms solutions to the issue would be to make them know each other bettere and make peace,the first step would be keep their hands away from the stones wouldn't it?

guns might not be the main cause,but they are sure helping people who wants to do harm to do so more efficiently,quickly and effortlessly..to me it seems a pretty good reason to do something..especially since whatever big problems the US might have that fuel those mass shootings are not gonna be resolved anytime soon

Obama please address the gun violence issue before you leave office. Mandatory background and psychological checks for purchases.

I can just imagine Trump and company rubbing their hands with glee so they can use this to further their anti Muslim rhetoric.

Im beyond shaken up by this. My little sister was going to go to Pulse last night and decided to spend time with my mother instead.

The thought that if she hadnt and something could have happened to her has me speechless.

Over 50 people mentioned now too.....wow... This is fucking insanity.

Every time I see a reply like this I'm more and more done feeling sorry for things like this happening in your country.

I hope people at least don't go on blaming it on mental illness and actually acknowledge this as a hate crime against gay people. Seems like it's the best you can hope for these days.

I'm for reasonable gun control. I do believe there should be mental health checks prior to buying a firearm. I would even be fine with firearms registration so there could be better accountability on "stolen" firearms and straw purchases.

And holy hell at +50 dead. I'll pray for the dead.

Not sure, but it can't hurt to begin to target the sadistic Wahhabi-Salafi ideology that inspires them.
 
I refuse to believe 50 people could've been murdered as easily if the perpetrator was using a knife/other improvised weapon over a gun. This has to stop, but will it? RIP to all who were taken in such a cruel and senseless act.
 
My heart has been aching for 20 dead and now its jumped up to 50 with 53 injured.

50 gay people celebrating pride went out to have fun and will never go back home again.

How does anyone rationalise that kind of loss of life as acceptable in their head.
 
I just saw this. Read the first page and the last page. 50 dead another 53 injured? That is...absolutely crazy. What happened? Is the shooter alive or dead? I can't believe this.

Edit: I guess it's only gonna get worse from here? When nothing changed after a bunch of kids were killed, that was it. :(

Wow, you're seriously putting all of the blame on the guns? That's sad. I hate guns myself, but this horrible person used those guns. The blame is on him. Guns are the unfortunate method to his madness.
