That and because it wasn't originally announced as having any type of exclusivity. If they'd just come out from the start and announced it I think things would've gone differently. That's not to say there wouldn't have been people complaining, but I don't think the reaction would've been as strong.

Pretty much this. We knew it was a multi-platform game turned timed exclusive but not only did Crystal Dynamics or Microsoft not want to state it as such, they purposely spun the spin machine around trying to make it sound like it was a full exclusive. It was just a huge PR failure from both of them.

Hey I agree. They handled that whole thing wrong. They were cagey as fuck regarding it's exclusivity.

People can say what they will about SFV but from the get go Sony said it's a lifetime console exclusive and it's coming to PC. People didn't have to be happy about it but they knew the deal.

We need to stop this console exclusivity bullshit on major marquee titles, DR4, RotTR, RE7, etc.

It clearly helps no one and the titles suffer or sell worse because of it.

RE7 is no where near a game that NEEDS console exclusivity just to get made.

Well SFV is exclusive and Capcom couldn't even afford to make that on their own. Dead Rising 4 is also exclusive for probably the same reason. So Resident Evil 7 being console exclusive would make sense given the fact they can't afford to make high budget AAA games on their own anymore.
