Xbox One S: 40% smaller, 2TB, 4K for movies/tv, internal PSU, $300

Not sure if this was already said, but.

500GB Xbox One S $399CAD.

1TB XOS $449CAD

2TB Limited Edition Launch $499CAD.

I'll be able to use the S with my regular 1080p TV right? I love my 905w and don't want to upgrade anytime soon, but the prospect of a smaller One appeals greatly.

Looks very nice. Renders don't do it justice.

I want to see the inside.

Yep, it'll still work just fine on any other TV, it just has support for HDR and 4K (playback only) if you own a TV with those features.

of course. 1080 is what most people have. 4K and HDR are just extras for fancy people with fancy tvs

Current Xbox One supports bitstream now does it not? I'm using LPCM so I'm not exactly sure, but I know I've seen the options.

It will bitstream Dolby Digital and DTS, but not DTS-HD or Dolby True HD. If a player doesn't bitstream Dolby True HD then it doesn't support Atmos. It's the exact same situation with DTS HD and DTS X.

These have been standard options in most players for almost a decade now, they had better not overlook it again,

Yes I realize. I'm saying it has to have an out. Because it has an in. So of course it still does.

I could have sworn they said the one on the front was an IR blaster like on the Kinect without the need for the Kinect. It's not IR input. So in this case, you have two options, utilize the one on the front, or attach one from the output in the back so you can place it where it'll work with your equipment.

I stand corrected. I guess it is a blaster. Not sure how will that would work.

It works surprisingly well on the Kinect so I'm sure it'll be fine. With the Kinect, It sat on top of my TV stand in front of my TV, and it was able to control a DirecTV box that was below it inside the TV stand. No direct line of sight between the two but because it's blasting IR everywhere, it bounces off something and hits the DirecTV box. It also was able to control my receiver which was way off to the side of the TV in a different stand.

Wish it had two HDMI out like most UltraHD Bluray players. My receiver does not have stupid HDCP 2.2, just HDMI 2.0 (bought in early 2015, anti-consumer copy protection is the worst, especially since it has already been broken...) so I have to output straight to the TV. I wonder if the audio will then pass through the TV via ARC HDMI to my receiver with the full encode intact? When I tried something like that awhile back, I could only get a stereo signal.

In the same boat. Yup, my one year old receiver is only 2.0. Grrr!

The 500gb slim is pretty attractive as a UHD player

No one should buy anything bigger. You can get an external drive very cheap and it's technically faster than the SATA I/O speeds that's in the Xbox already.

Unless they have changed that.

And unless you hate the idea of an external drive slightly bigger than a credit card.

500GB and 1TB SKU are up on Amazon.

And the 2TB date just changed to the second of August. Only the 2TB SKU comes with a vertical stand.

The 500GB and 1TB SKUs are looking more and more like decorative items to keep the from pice low. Launch later, no vertical stand, wtf MS.

So fucking excited for the 500GB to release as I've got a 3TB external ready. Hurry up and give us the release date please!!!

I totallh agree. I need to have my atmos setup utilized damnit! Lol

The best you will get from HDMI ARC is equal to optical. So you can get bitstream DD and DTS 5.1, but no DTS HD-MA or multi-channel LPCM.

I've got the same problem, and the solution is looking like a new AV receiver.
