Breath of the Wild is the official subtitle for Zelda U/NX, first gameplay trailer

I feel like the ppl are saying it looks bland and boring have only watched the trailer. The streams show a lot stuff. The world feels very dynamic with lots of interactive things, different environments and landmarks.

This Zelda is to open world games what Splatoon is to online shooters; it's Nintendo's take on a popular genre that doesn't have wide appeal outside Nintendo fans.

The world is way too colorful and gamey, without any of the modern AAA presentation elements.

What do you guys want exactly? A treasure chest every 3 feet? Seems theres plenty of interactivity and stuff to explore from what I've seen.

Yeah, I mean, there's some fields and valleys with nothing in them, but... okay? That's fine. They're beautiful and there's nothing wrong with some negative space. Theres still plenty of things we're seeing so far. It's an overreaction from people who just really hate everything associated with open world design.

The overworld so far strikes me as pretty similar to the overworld of past 3D Zeldas, only larger.

It's the Skyward Sword Master Sword. Could it be a direct sequel to Skyward Sword?

The vibe I got was that it was SS Link who had been sealed in time and woken up right before Ganon is about to escape the Sacred Realm pre-WW. The Koroks being in the game give us a direct connection to WW.

The Tower of the Gods in WW has some similarities with the advanced tech they showed in the demo.

People for the longest time have been asking for "The Dark Souls of Zelda/Zelda Souls"...

Well, here you have it. Freedom with combat, weapon deterioration, subdued narrative, completely optional areas to explore/shrines/dungeons. There also seems to be more options for one to go on the offensive (such as those Guardian remnants).

There's a maddening amount of systems here. It's like Far Cry 2 had a baby with Half Life 2 with a bit of splinter cell and a Zelda coat with some portal and Christ this game Takes from everything.

It's the same design. They're not all the same design. There's been a few designs over the years. And what are you basing this WW theory on exactly?

Koroks only came to be after Hyrule was flooded. Before that, they were the Kokiri. If it's Hyrule, and it's not flooded, and there are Koroks, then it's post-WW.

Not sold on everything but this looks like a fun, interesting and fresh take on Zelda and I'm excited for it.

I can't believe all the hate in this thread, especially about how there is nothing to do or the world is bare. We've seen the smallest of a fraction of the world so far and we've already seen a good number of landmarks and interactivity, calm down for a bit.

I'm getting a little worried about the atmosphere of the game. Obviously Hyrule is in ruins, something happened, and Link is the only survivor. It does not have to be something bad, but it can end in a very monotonous game, all time the same.

And I think there should be humans or other races to interact with. I guess it's still early for those details.

Keep in mind the Koroks (nor anyone else) would not have access to hyrule before WW, as its under water.

The game would need to take place after WW.

EDIT: Fixed a typo. No way this is a WW prequel.

We was never actually killed in OoT. He was just sealed away in the sacred realm.

The sages tried to execute him in TP but it didn't work because of triforce shenanigans.

He didn't die from Ocarina to TP, was only sealed away.
I know. I shouldn't have used resurrected since my original quote was that Ganon can't die and is eternal... My question is how he made it back from being sealed away. That's what I meant.

Maybe this is the game where the world gets flooded at the end?

Idk

Not sure I understand the complaining, all they're doing in this event is showcasing you can do literally anything you want from the outset as many have demonstrated. No mention of story yet, haven't seen a real dungeon, no idea how the game progresses... They're just outlining your freedoms here, something we haven't had in Zelda for a long time...

Koroks put it after OoT since they used to be the Kokiri.

Eh....why? Because of the rumours that NX is going for VR and all that? Because so far it is still planned for March.

I've just never bought the NX release timeline and I'm cynically sticking to my long ago prediction based on Nintendo's historical console delays. Don't mean to imply I know anything others don't.

I find it very interesting that Bill is saying "we want you to see what amiibo does on the Wii U version of the game."

He keeps intentionally mentioning "wii U version".

Will Amiibo not have a place in the NX ecosystem? That seems like a bad idea considering how well they sell.

It could be either before WW or after. It would be funny if the Old Man turns out to be Ganon trying to regain the Lost City of Hyrule by tricking Link into summoning the Triforce/Sacred Realm.

nintendo isn't like other game developers. they never overshow features or levels. whenever they show Mario, they rarely go past World 1. this demo has to be the equivalent of playing OoT and never approaching the Deku Tree.

Do you seriously think there's a possibility Nintendo wants to leave Amiibo behind with their dead console? -_-

I'm really quite conflicted with this. It looks alright. I like the hands off approach they're taking to let you get on with it. But the way they're talking about the features, there was stuff that been in gaming (Elder Scrolls is one that springs to mind) for like 10 years. Setting fire to grass, world physics- things they were making a deal out of. I'm glad they're there and that Zelda is evolving - it just seems so far behind the curve.

If this was any developer outside of Nintendo, say it was a new IP from Microsoft, would it be acceptable?

Well said. Was just thinking the same thing.
So this is what I bought a Wii U for? Such crap, never trusting Nintendo again.

Are you trolling?

They are showing a tiny portion of the map in the beginning of the game with a small selection of enemies. There are 100 mini dungeons as well as full sized dungeons scattered around. There are things to mess with around every corner. From what we have seen, the map is more populated than any other 3D Zelda game
