Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 2016 Thread [*LIVE*] (No childish commentary allowed)

So if we don't see anything plot-related today, will it be at the NX reveal event? A Zelda direct later on? Hm.
Good on Nintendo not really spoiling anything today, though. We need not worry about that (at least so far).

That would be interesting if they implemented towns ala time shift stones style. Somehow use the Sheikah IPAD thingy to viewfinder/interact/peer into past events or something.

Aounuma was misquoted, he was stating there are no towns in the E3 demo, not that there are no towns/villages in the game at all. They're not showing them in the E3 demo because apparently they are tied to story elements and they do not want to spoil any story elements or... even any story at all.

What's the source for all this anyway?

I doubt we'll see much at all really. Probably only the first proper cutscene and a Zelda reveal. They're really wanting people to experience things first-hand.

Y'all making excuses for no towns is ridiculous, the one thing i hated in skyward sword a small city hub only. Im getting the game, but Nintendo really need to keep up there game design with the times, Horizon looks to be more of a next gen Zelda game but whatever yall will just get mad at my response and ignore the fact that Nintendo can never have design flaws or that this game is perfect in anyway.

read the thread. "no towns" isn't accurate.

I can tell the detail in this game is amazing and the stream quality doesn't seem to do it justice.

All the physics, wind, fog, leaves, shadowing, fire, destruction, etc. are all great additions a world like this.

I feel we'll need to quote this repeatedly for about three pages.

Watch the mini dungeons called shrines they showed earlier on the stream, one had obstacles designed around magnetism and one was based on using bombs in different ways.

I think of it as taking the substance from the main dungeons and spreading them out evenly throughout the world in the form of smaller dungeons. I'm completely fine with this given the two we saw were entry level and the complexity ramps up nicely from there.

I've been watching, I know about the 100 shrines. Shrines are not dungeons and there is no excuse to have only 4. Even though my favorite game is MM.

To be honest, I expected meltdowns because New Zelda wasn't going to please everybody.

But it seems to be more positive then bad, Most people that I see disappointed seem to have had too high expectations.

But props for really breaking conventions of Zelda.

I'm more upset on how they're handling the information and presenting it to us with a long ass livestream, going over the same information like crazy, and just playing the game in front of us when the only thing I'm thinking "Just let me fucking play it so I can learn all this stuff on myself."

There are some things I am disappointed with, there are some things I am very happy with. But overall I'm just pissed about stupid questions and side chatter. All I want is answers and even that seems like it's asking for too much.

They're doing a fucking terrible job showcasing this game despite how much they have to work with.

Snow area.

Damn this game looks huge. Also, no loading screens?

The stealth meter is weird. They felt the need to have an entire ui element dedicated to it at all times but there doesn't seem to be that much Link can do in terms of stealth beyond walk slower. It seems kinda superfluous since it's already convey by Link's movement or the grass moving as he moves through it.

The world seems so static and game-y. Like, I don't really believe the world is real. There doesn't seem to be any locations with any deep history or lore attached to them. Everything just seems to be there for gameplay purposes and that's it. It all looks too basic and feels all child-friendly. Like it's just a big playground with no lore or narrative to join anything together.

I really can't wait to be let loose in this world. There is so much I want to see. I am so excited to get lost in this adventure and discover all the little details, story elements, and secrets. I am just brimming with anticipation to play it for myself.

Also, for those worried about villages. From Eiji Aonuma:
“I can't share too much about villages because to tell you how the villages work, they're interconnected to the story and overall world.”

quoting YET AGAIN so people don't fall into "no towns in the game" trap.

EDIT: OMG A RAFT!
