Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 2016 Thread [*LIVE*] (No childish commentary allowed)

Nintendo needs to can the Wii U version of this game.

This is a CLEAR system-seller.

Oh shit...

Aonuma just confirmed that whether you purchase the game on either Wii U or NX...that "it's the same experience".

My gut is really telling me the NX version isn't getting anything more than maybe a resolution boost for NX, and that's it!

I imagine it will be more graphical effects than just resolution. It also seems apparent touch screen controls were cut from the Wii U version for the NX. Otherwise I cannot explain why they aren't letting touch screen inventory switching after WW and TP remakes.

in the game? Yeah, maybe it doesn't look that good compared to the other areas IMHO.

In real life? Oh no, I love how snow looks over a desert. Having lived almost 18 years of my life in a town in the middle of the Atacama Desert, I can tell you - those incredibly rare times when snow fell were like absolute events :D

This is very good to hear, must've been magical!

I was thinking why the title wasn't Into the Wild because i thought its slightly better. then realized its already a Movie title.

I still like the title for this one tho

The world seems so static and game-y. Like, I don't really believe the world is real. There doesn't seem to be any locations with any deep history or lore attached to them. Everything just seems to be there for gameplay purposes and that's it. It all looks too basic and feels all child-friendly. Like it's just a big playground with no lore or narrative to join anything together.

I agree. Maybe it is too soon to fully judge this but at first glance I'd say you highlight what I was also feeling while watching (along with the things I did nitpick about already like the lack of combat challenge (again) and sound effects that are too familiar).

If you compare this game to how Shadow of the Colossus' world felt where every empty space seemed to be meaningful, epic and atmospheric, or the danger and lore filled worlds of the Souls games or The Witcher III, this game's world feels like it is set in an all ages playground with many empty spaces in between non-threatening encounters. Considering the fact that it was the Zelda series that was one of the pioneers of environmental storytelling and world building through minimalistic means and hints of "lived-in-ness" it seems unfortunate that this latest game might be lacking in that very department. Again though: it might be too soon to fully judge this.

Same experience is an ok but yeah I just reallyyyyyyyyyyyyy hope they boost the resolution on the NX version at least.

I love Skyward Sword and the other Zelda games that came out since then but my god, this game is giving me feelings I haven't felt for a game since I was hyped for Twilight Princess (04-06)!

I don't care if there are towns or not, but can anyone tell me if the roll attack is gone? Wait, was it missing from Skyward Sword as well?

On the one hand I can appreciate where you're coming from because I had this complaint about Xenoblade X. But of course, this is a Zelda game and not a pseudo-MMO.

Xenoblade X had a structure that would have rewarded a more believable world. This on the other hand is the kind of game where you want more tight and efficient structure with more mechanical variety.

Open world games only work if they are paced appropriately for their content, and the believeability of a game world in a more action-oriented game rests upon its physics and mechanics. I think the apparent gamey-ness makes the game seem more efficient, something that will lead to it being far more addictive than something padded for effect.

Basically I'm agreeing with you, but my perspective is that this is not only beneficial, it's ideal.

I'm not a fan of SotC's world at all. It was way too spread out for the content, and to me did nothing to build atmosphere. It's harder for me to judge fairly though I suppose, since the original release ran so poorly it made me physically ill and I had to wait until the PS3 remaster to finish it.

I do think we're not going to get a representative sample from the portion of the game they are limiting themselves to, though. For all we know the back end of the game could work better or worse.

If this game doesn't have something that I would call a "town", then I'm not buying it. And, no, a village doesn't count. I'm looking for at least 3 distinct building types.

Lol. Such a hilariously arbitrary condition.

"If there aren't at least 2 but no more than 4 forested areas I'm not going to buy this game! My blood is boiling just thinking about it!!!"

I believe he is referring to content and not graphics when he says experience. I expect it to be like a hd remaster of the Wii U version.

1080 60 would be nice.

it is the starting area of the game, aonuma already confirmed that no towns will be on E3 because they are connected to the story

What would you expect? Twilight Princess again, considering they are coming out around the same time it is to be expected. To be honest, better frame rate/resolution more effects is more than enough incentive for me
