Wait, Boris Johnson is the most popular politician in the UK?

That was a joke, right? Like, that isn't seriously actually true

He's a manipulative bastards and very good at it. He's been making his persona for years and knows exactly how to manipulate the public for popularity. Don't like the guy but he is a damn good at manipulating people.

'People aren't voting the way I want, so we should ban them from voting '

What is it with this casual flirting with authoritarianism in this thread?

It's telling that you jump to the assumption that the uninformed would be voting to leave.

Not sure where I fall in the idea of a requirement to vote, but I wouldn't be lying if the whole 'fuck experts' part of the movement didn't make me quite angry at the public who eat it up.

Isn't this assuming that undecided voters will default to the status quo? I can only hope that is so.

I don't believe there is a chance in hell an undecided votes for the financial turmoil that will come tomorrow and Friday over 'same as before'. The unknown is too great for the undecided.

Looking at the EU economy that could happen either way, only problem is if the EU economy really goes down the shitter (more than it is at the moment) we have no way of looking to the rest of the world to find new business.

Why not, you can export to China et al now too.
As can Germany, it's not as if you are exclusively trading with EU under very unfavourable terms towards the rest of the world...
I don't get it at all...

Sorry where did I say ban people? I just wish people took time to understand the implications of what they were voting for. It was pretty tongue in cheek as well tbh I understand the system we have now is as good as it's gonna get.

If I was offering a serious suggestion it would be that there should be a politically neutral group who offered the facts and could rebut any lies to further an agenda, thus providing an unbiased, factually correct representation of the facts in a simple, easy to understand way thus allowing the voters to make a reasonable decision based on the facts rather than a skewed version of facts to make one side look better than the other.

Unfortunately this seems to be impossible with the current crop of MPs we have at the moment.

Yes it does.

weekev, as quoted by uzzy is apparently pro remain.( Unless I made a mistake there.)
Uzzy implies that a test for knowledge on the issue being voted on would block people that weekev doesn't like from voting, I.e. leave.

I guess Uzzy is pro remain too, if they aren't, their subconscious us telling them they should be. ;)

I hope it was tongue in cheek, but it's not the first comment I've seen in this thread that flirts with authoritarianism when it comes to who should be allowed to vote.

Yeah but that's not banning one side or the other the implication was that a test on knowledge would benefit one side over the other. My tongue in cheek example was merely to vent my frustration that we could be headed for a future voted for by people who didn't know what they are voting for. When I speak to people on this matter, the ignorance around is staggering and it really isn't helped by the constant muddying of the waters from both sides.

The real answer to the whole age/knowledge thing is to not put major complicated decisions to a referendum to a larger population who will only be informed badly by politicians.

Just one more day, thank god

It's too late for Brexiters. The difference needs to be higher in their favour.

I hope this isn't the case. You never know with the opinion polls though. I've made up my mind - wife is still swaying side to side.
There's such a buzz about this referendum, more than any election I can remember. Fingers crossed for a high turn out of voters.

Fucking hate the sun.

Honestly tool my boy to school and it hit me all those kids from non Uk families that are going to school how must they feel? Do they feel welcome here?

Immigration s a hit topic and farage spouting his shit

This really has brought out the worst.

Take back control ?

Bollocks

EUnited we stand.

I'm for Remain but even I appreciate Farage and his rhetoric does not speak for many on the Leave Campaign.

As I said a few pages back, I'm amazed and bemused the Leave Campaign if they were a co-ordinated effort didn't muzzle him.

You can be for Leave and hate Farage in the same way you can Vote Remain and hate Cameron. Personality politics has screwed this debate to a toxic degree.

It should require a 2/3 majority to change the status quo - simple majority is stupid and dangerous for a decision so serious

I'm for leave and I can't stand him. Others I've met are pretty much the same.
