When I last spoke to my parents they're both voting leave, and they're SNP supporters (pro Scottish independence too).

From what little I've debated with them it's not to do with immigration for once. Thankfully. I think they just fucking hate David Cameron lol. As I do I though.

I'm a remain vote.

me and my mum both despise Cameron, but we can't use that as our single reason to vote Leave, more reasons to stay imo

Voting leave because you hate Cameron won't really do much tbh, since he's stepping down in a few years anyway

Wouldn't be surprised if the two of them think it's tactical to help leave squeak over the line and then the inevitable 60+ % of Scots voting remain triggers ole Sturgeon to Scotland wanting independence to stay in the EU. Hah. In fairness though they have both been doing a lot of research and have voted all their lives and never in my experience with them spoke about chucking a vote or voting for something they didn't believe in.

This countries political divides are getting pretty nuts. Everyone is unhappy about something and hates someone.

For the most part I think we can unite to say we hate the majority of our media and papers when they cover elections / votes. It's all pretty bottom of the barrel stuff.

I honestly can't tell what way it's going, though I think I'd lean (sadly) toward Leave

Nah I think the bigger change is always scared outta enough voters, for better or worse. Obviously I think for worse for Scotland, better for Brexit :p

But in all seriousness our media and scare mongering still really does a number on voters. Especially considering most aren't out to get all educated on what being part of the EU is actually about. It's just boiled down to "shit immigration is bad, and Ohhh NHS money, good!". That is for the masses who through genuine ignorance, or a lack of caring, won't really get educated for an important vote like this.

It's why this country really lets itself down when it comes to education and proper debate. We've been spiralling further and further towards the American style election shit throwing and smearing campaigns. Some of the behaviour around the tragic Jo Cox murder was numbing as well.

This is what I'm worried about a lot of people will be voting leave purely because of their hatred of David Cameron and the Tories, and not thinking about what effect it might have on them we we leave the EU.

In response, Mr Frost reportedly wrote back: “Tell this to all the innocent people you and your type have murdered. Shame on you and the bastard scum who kill in the name of Islam.”

Mr Jahad said in response: “I'm a practicing Muslim but have not killed anybody. I'm sorry that you feel that way, as have extended my hand to you.

“You do not know me yet you [are] insulting me. It is very common of your sort to insult every Muslim but thank you anyhow I shall endeavour not to trouble you again. God Bless.”

A further response was then reportedly sent by Mr Frost, saying: “Thank you for your reply, I did not accuse you of anything and I know that all muslims are not terrorists but all the terrorists ARE muslims.

”The vast majority of the 'real' British public don't trust your 'sort' and we don't want you in our civilised country.

Possibly, but England is at least more pro Torry than Scotland. The issue for England is more the hate of Cameron.

Up here you'd expect our whole nation to vote leave just to spite the Torries as a party, but we've got the SNP backing remain and for better or worse whatever they want has a large following up here.

As usual with votes though how the English go as a majority is really what will count the most. Us Scots are vastly outnumbered overall lol. Isn't London now like 2x the population of our whole country?

The more that vote Leave, the more Scotland's views on the EU match those of England - nullifying the reason they would have to call for another referendum.

It's a remain stronghold up here. Some daft people thinking an odd leave vote here or there would somehow make a difference is beyond wishful thinking. I was joking when I said that about my parents. It's more how I wind them up when we've spoken about this whole thing.

Heck half the banter from me to other fellow Scots is "hey guys how can we vote tactically?!..." Proper answer is we can't really, reason it's asked is for a laugh due to left over independence saltiness.

As a collective though if England is really split down the middle a couple hundred thousand extra remain votes from up here should help.
 
Wow, on GAF itself I was just served a vote "leave" ad. It focused on Turkey joining the EU (cough, bullshit, cough) and that Turkey bordered Iraq, a country we well and truly helped fuck up without asking the EU for permission. And remain is considered to be the one pushing "project fear"? Errrrrrr

The SNP top brass are petrified that its leave, they'll have to call a referendum again seeing as they set that criteria themselves a referendum which they would almost certainly lose with oil at $50.

If they don't call one and wait until the UK leaves the EU it will be almost impossible in the future to leave the UK and then join the EU, they'd lost all the UK's opt outs and rebate and be forced to put trade barriers up with the UK, which would kill their economy.

A leave vote will kill off Scottish Independence imo the contunied EU membership was a massive comfort blanket for a depature

The opposite. One of the main selling points on the vote no side of Indyref was that a vote to leave the UK would threaten our place within the European Union. That leaving the union would seriously damage our economy. Scotland is very, very heavily vote remain. If the vote doesn't go the way the majority of Scots vote, it'll be seen as yet another example of how the Scottish vote doesn't impact the overall decision (rightly or wrongly). The SNP would call for another independence referendum on the basis of the significant political change proposed by an exit from the EU. A failure to heed that call would have consequences. Should we exit the European Union and the British economy goes rapidly south the Scottish electorate would be clamouring for another vote.

A colleague at work referred (without irony) to the Jo Cox memorial as "grief porn" and said it was disgusting that her murder was being used in such a manipulative and overtly political manner. He said it was "sickly", the husband was "glib" and would probably be appearing on Big Brother next year.

True story.
