Good thing the EU has not done that! Also, any free-trade agreement has rules like this. At least this is a democratic Union with elections on who approves those rules!

Also, the UK has some of the worst Libel laws in the world. Although I do agree with you about the right to be forgotten, none of the Leave campaigners have even been talking about that, so I doubt that would be something that would be changed anyway.
Ah, thankies for that video! I've not watched it all yet, but one of the rules for pillows quoted in the brexit movie being about cereal gave me a giggle :3 I didn't want to really use that propaganda piece for anything source wise but actually digging through the ginormous lexicon of regulations on the european site was giving me a migraine. Lesson learned :P

The thing is EU is constantly forming, it's a very slow process but it is happening.

If you want reform there are two major components to it: Who forms your government and which parties are in power in the European parliament.

The most important in this equation is the national governments, and with it the heads of state. They represent the countries and only they can change the treaties and they hold the most power in that regard, please do also note that all these treaties have to be ratified by national parliaments. In that regard your vote in national elections also has a major effect on the EU.

Now the European parliament doesn't have that power, but it has influence on legislation within the boundaries of the treaties. The MEP's in the parliament are grouped in political groups like in national parliaments. At the moment the largest group is the conservative EPP and the second largest is the center-left S&D, after that comes the ECR, then ALDE, Gue-NGL, Green-EFA and so on. How the power is distributed between the groups affects what kind of legislation comes out. Also, the largest group gets to nominate their lead candidate as the president of the European commission.

Please note that EU only has the power it's been given by the member countries in the primary treaties.
Thanks for this explanation. I was aware of bits and pieces but it seems there's a few gaps in my knowledge that still need filling out, but that doesn't surprise me :3

What's wrong with the battery thing? Considering how dangerous batteries can be I can see there being very valid reasons for that.

What thought crime laws are there?

Can you also please link to what Juncker said about Austria. I'm geniunely interested in that.
I can't recall batteries ever threatening my life even as a child so colour me somewhat skeptical on the necessity of having to dig out a screwdriver every time I want to change the batteries in my attacknids :P

the 'thought crime' aspects are mostly contained in some worrying clauses in this statute: http://www.europarl.europa.eu/meetd...ework_statute_/11_revframework_statute_en.pdf

one choice bit being:
(a) "Group" means: a number of people joined by racial or cultural
roots, ethnic origin or descent, religious affiliation or linguistic
links, gender identity or sexual orientation, or any other
characteristics of a similar nature.
(b) "Group libel" means: defamatory comments made in public and
aimed against a group as defined in paragraph (a) – or members
thereof – with a view to inciting to violence, slandering the group,
holding it to ridicule or subjecting it to false charges.
Explanatory Notes:

(i) This definition covers "blood libels" and anti-Semitic slurs, as well
as allegations that, e.g., "gypsies are thieves" or "Moslems are
terrorists".
(ii) It must be understood that the "group libel" may appear to be
aimed at members of the group in a different time (another
historical era) or place (beyond the borders of the State).
which is vaguely worded enough that you could be liable for prosecution for saying Turkey committed genocide on the armenians, for example or the guy who has the act involving "achmed the dead terorrist" could face legal repercussions for example (it falls under 'ridicule' after all).

As for Juncker: http://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/juncker-vows-to-use-new-powers-to-block-the-far-right-nq5r5tnqq
Jean-Claude Juncker, president of the European Commission, made clear at the weekend that Norbert Hofer would have been frozen out of EU decision-making if he had been elected president of Austria. “There is no debate or dialogue with the far-right,” Mr Juncker said.

Under powers given to the commission in 2014, he can trigger a “rule of law mechanism” for countries that depart from democratic norms by putting a government under constitutional supervision. Ultimately, a country can be stripped of voting rights in the EU or have funding blocked.

In a test run for the new EU constitutional powers, the commission has issued unprecedented orders to Poland, instructing the newly elected right-wing government to bow to Polish judges who have struck down laws passed by the parliament.

I don't like the political right myself (I loathe the tories >.<), but if that's who they voted for then it's their democratic right to have them represent them, else it's no democracy at all :/

When do we panic?

Replaced with Carswell though, not really an upgrade.

I've recently moved to the Borough where this guy is MP, so you can guess how this area is expected to vote...

Anyway thought i would do my bit and wandered off to the polling station.

Weaved between the old folks waving pens at me muttering something about a conspiracy, some were wearing tin foil tea cosies.

Declining the bribes of Werther's Originals and Fishermans Friend i walked on head held high, i proudly asked where the MI5 were to check i had marked the correct box to remain.

There were no cheers, but i did hear some mumblings about tea.

There were no signs of said MI5, but it did look like they had just laid a nice new patio out back.

I am probably on their hit list and will forever be banned from playing bingo or bowls.

My vote also goes to cola cubes or eggs (pick n mix sort) or whispers or those packs of crisp in which you got the pack of salt.

Farage trying to undermine the legitimacy of the vote by talking about the voter extension thing. He could have tried to be classy :/
