Whatever the result, this is unequivocally a divided kingdom now.

But this is like... everywhere in the West. No-one reads the same news any more, watches the same TV, listens to the same radio, etc etc. The death of truly mainstream media has fucked any notion of political consensus - everything's gotten too targeted. It's present in the UK as truly as it's present in the US, as it's likely present in Germany.

It'll only get worse tomorrow, as the papers exaggerate the result as a win or a loss depending on how they were leaning prior to the vote, rather than just the people's choice.

I lean towards leave, I am not xenophobic or racist or any other number of insults I have seen pitched around, this is half the problem, I also find it ironic that people claim that people who vote out are "uneducated" when surely making statements such as that are rather uneducated or at best naive don't you agree?

The fact that there's a 80 point swing in the split between the college grades and GCSEs doesn't mean that it's impossible to be educated and support leave, but it certainly allows people to generalize about the group compositions. It's like if you learn that someone supports dismantling the NHS, it's not impossible that they're a Labour voter but I don't think we'd pretend there's not a partisan divide on the NHS.

The financial market sure likes certainty, investors don't like to play Russian roulette with their money. I really hope whatever the outcome, that the UK economy doesn't over contract because if that happens, all fears will be confirmed. What I think many haven't considered is how the government will try to rectify this particular economic shock, how many jobs will be lost, how many will be gained, how many years will it take to stabilise the economy, what export will the UK used to gain competitive advantage, there's so many issues people haven't considered and I blame the government for not giving a detailed educated narrative of both sides.

One thing to consider is Scotland. I don't think Scotland will stand with England to jog through this uncertainty, they will push for a new referendum so they can stay in Europe thus tearing themselves away from the UK.

So far this thead is much more rewarding than all of E3 in terms of NeoGaf meltdowns.

Unlike E3 some of us are going to lose our livelyhoods. I think meltdowns in this case are warrented. :P

(I'm not having a meltdown, but I can see why they are more justified in this case)

Sunderland is absolute Leave heartland. Generally poor, northern, old, high unemployment, underperforming industry.
It's kind of sad how one can guess results like that just based on a region's financial status..especially considering leaving will probably not going to help them.

Need to go to sleep - have a job interview in London tomorrow - although if we vote leave I wouldn't be surprised if it was postponed.

I love the fact that BBC's page map has an option of "tie" for a district but it's only for exact tie. A gradient would be way more useful.

By the way why is leave marked blue? Campaigns?
