Just throwing this out there, but if you want to convince someone they're wrong, it pays not to be condescending or insulting, that's just a good way of making someone ignore you, much like I have been doing up until now. I mean, it's true that some of the nativist xenophobia is dressed up in Oxbridge sophistry rather than just being pub bloke stuff, yes, but it's also true that there's a massive divide across education and class. There are brown dudes who vote Republican in the US, there are Scots who vote Tory, there are educated people who vote for Leave here, there are scientists who think evolution is a sham. We can still generalize effectively; the structure of the vote for Brexit is going to be highly regional, further determined by regional blue collar-white collar and age divides. It's OK to be a white collar guy who votes like a blue collar guy or whatever, I don't think this needs to cause you insecurity.
