Trying to find the name of a comic

This is a bit of a long shot, but it's been annoying me for years. Bear with me here because this is a memory I'm pulling from when I was around 4-5 years old.

In the UK, somewhere around 93/94 there was a comic available in Newsagents that was fantasy oriented. I think it was black and white although I could be wrong about that.

Everytime I think about it I think 'Lord of the Rings', but it wasn't that. There was something to do with monsters, maybe someone hunting them?

The thing I remember specifically was that there was some dude in a forest, either running away from or confronting a monster. It was definitely some sort of series and not a one off.

I know this is vague but if someone could help purge the not knowing I would be grateful.

You could probably narrow it down by finding out which publisher, or localized UK publishers were into publishing black and white comics by that time.

Slaine maybe? It's the first thing that comes to mind, but I'm from the States and kind of unfamiliar with lots of UK comics.

Could be Slaine from 2000 AD? The Horned God was published around that time.

It's not either of the two mentioned. I know this is an infuriating thing to try and investigate and I only hope it doesn't send the rest of you mad too.

It was sort of like Beowulf? But it wasn't the beowulf story.

I think there was a horse too.

Sorry. I'm never going to nail this am I?

It's a tough one. Real tough.

We have to nail this down more--was it cartoony like Bone or (semi)-realistic like some of the others?

I know nothing about 99% of British comics, so I'm just trying to get another criteria going.

Given the timing, maybe Knights of Pendragon from the Marvel UK imprint.

(It's probably not Slaine as it was in 2000AD not standalone other than maybe in US Eagle Comics reprints.)

When you say Marvel I think Elfquest, when you say black and white I think a majority of what has already been posted.

It was semi-realistic.

This is one of the reasons why it's sticking in my head and occasionally sending me mad. There was something really unique and weird about it all. It was non-violent enough for me to have gotten hold of it at one point, but grown up enough for it to be massively different from anything I've read before that.

We're talking about the time when the 'build a t rex' mags were first out, where you got the 3D glasses.
