Pokémon Go is live on the Google Play Store

After a short downtime, I was able to log back in, so servers may be back up?

Edit: But after being able into the game once, now I appear to get stuck on the loading screen.

Talk is that they're going to wipe saves for anyone who sideloaded the APK but I'm not sure how much truth there is to that. Works fine when the servers are up, though.

I really dont see why they would care that much about it, but at the same time I also wouldnt really care if they did that lol

Are you using Google or PTC login?

Sounds more to me like someone (not you) is making up rumors because they're butthurt about not being able to play for whatever reason. But you never know. :)

Ah, I couldn't get in but I'm using PTC.

Can't get past the loading screen, guess it's not back up for everyone yet.

And they better not wipe the apk saves, I used Google play credit to get those coins.

What talk? Just neogaf board talk? Hopefully they refund spent coins if they do.

Not sure why they'd wipe data for people who downloaded the APK. There is literally $0 lost for them, and actually some profit to be made (people have been spending Play credit).

The PTC site seems to be getting hammered, and I've noticed a new "Pokemon GO Settings" option. Related?

Managed to hop back on for a second during this server stuff.
It asked to sign up with Google or Pokémon Trainer account so I hit Google and it just logged me back in. All my stuff was still there. I couldn't do anything though, and the next time I started the app it was the standard server error.

I don't think there's anything to worry about re:wiping

Went out capturing a ton of gyms and Pokémon.

Squirtle and Electrabuzz was hiding somewhere and eluded me.

But I find it hilarious that my college campus has like a thousand drowzees, Shelders, ghastlys, and jynxs.

Represents college pretty damm well.

Fought a gym, got opponent to 1HP, then somehow the server didn't register my hits and the enemy KO'd my team. I had to spend revives and potions and I couldn't battle the gym again somehow. What the hell. After that the game logged me out and I had to go back home for my credentials. Meh.

Also; recaptured a Gym and within minutes it was recaptured by the d'bag that took it from me. Anger, rage.

Met a girl that was playing as well, so that's something.

I gotta say: stumbling onto an opposing team's gym, waltzing in there all sneaky-like, and stomping the ever-loving hell out of their Pokémon feels pretty good. That's my Dutch Bros. now, red team!! HA!

So how's everyone's experience going with the game for those of you who live in pretty small towns and rural areas? I honestly expected my area of 400,000 to be underrepresented in a game like this, but was pleasantly surprised by the variety and breadth of Pokéstops and gyms.

Do you consider that low or high pop? My town has 16,000...

already noticed a bunch of gyms popping up here. However, there's a Gym location right in front of my door, so I'll make sure it'll belong to me.

That isnt a very small area. Probably like in the top 50 of US cities.

Damn, 400k is small/rural to you? My hometown had 1000 people. 150k is the biggest city in my entire state, and is my current city, no complaints as far as Pokemon or locations from me.

400,000 Metro isn't NYC, but that's not rural by any stretch.

I don't even have wild Pokemon.
