Pokémon Go is live on the Google Play Store

Geez... was walking around trying this out at 2 at night and some guy riding his bike came up to me asking me if I was doing the pokemon thing.

This is going to be huge, isn't it?

Almost level 8 after 24 hours, got a seadra with over 300 cp as well, got 4 gyms.
Only one playing in my city as I sideloaded, doubt it will be huge in eastern Europe anyway.

It is going to be massive. This is a bigger hit than Miitomo already.

I tried to buy pokeballs and gmail locked me out of my email. And apparently they ask the most asinine random questions to get your account back. This is going to be a long night.

Ended up nabbing a 450 CP Golbat and 522 CP Pidgeot right before the servers went down. A few more like those and I'll be able to keep all my local gyms on lockdown, haha.

I was walking around midnight in my neighborhood in Chicago and saw a couple of fellow goobers walking around too.

Caught and got a Jynx up to 398 CP. Pretty sure I could wreck any of the local gyms with her but haven't decided on a team yet.

My Facebook feed is full of people talking about it and my friends aren't even gamers.
Exactly this. It hits home to anyone and everyone with its simple concept. Miitomo had a few of my Facebook friends playing but mostly those were already gamers. Pokemon Go has everyone on my Facebook going nuts, even some older gen people.

Inconvenient timing for it to be down. Decided to go out to the grocery store so I could try this out. Nothing was showing up on the map, so I closed the app, and now I just get an infinitely spinning white pokeball when I try to sign in again with Google.

Also, did anyone get a confirmation email when they signed up via Google. I didn't, and it's a pet peeve of mine when services don't send registration emails because there are several people around the globe who frequently use my email address for all sorts of things.

So I don't think I'm getting the AR thing. I'm close to the pokemon and try to find it but can't find it. When the pokeball "flashes" in a sense does that mean I'm getting closer?

It'll actually show up on the map (and usually vibrate), then you tap it to go into capture mode. Then you have the choice of regular or AR/camera.

EDIT: just checked the play store, seems to be available in US for me on OG moto x now.

It's blowing up all over social media, as far as I can see. Popular snapchat/vine/twitter celebrities are talking about it, one promoter on vine is even doing a social meet-up at the gym he claimed wherever he lived.

I'm just itching to give it a go myself tomorrow, when I head out to work.

This is about to be massive.

DLed this from the US app store (iOS), but am playing in Japan.

I got through the character creation stage without any problems, but now there doesn't appear to be ANYTHING of interest on the area map (i.e. nothing I can go interact with.)

I that just because the game hasn't been released here in Japan yet? Maybe Niantic has enabled server support for the area?

Omg I went to the airport to pick up my sister and there was so much shit going on, gyms, pokemon centers, pokemon, but I couldnt do anything because I was driving and she was ready to go lol.

So how does this work? It's too late for me to go out, but there's a gym down the street. Does that mean the area has been "claimed"? It's in red so not sure if it's part of that team thing or what that means.

What's about to be massive is that dropoff if Niantic don't release updates in a timely manner.

What sort of area do you live in? Is it urban or rural?

Ideally you can use the map of Niantic Labs Ingress game to see if Ingress Portals are around, because those are what was used to create the Pokemon Stops and Gyms. But I think you may have to be an Ingress member to look at that, so I'm not sure how helpful that actually would be for you.

Well what I mean is it shows up on my map and when I tap the pokemon and use AR.. The pokemon doesnt show up on my screen. Do I have to "look" for it? Should it just be right there like if I don't use AR? Cause I use AR but its not in front of me.. The screen will do a animation if I get closer but stop it if I walk away

Do you see arrows pointing on the left or right? that would mean the pokemon is off camera and you need to turn to face it in AR mode.

I'm in Japan (downloaded it with my US account) and I keep getting the grey pokeball spinning on the top left. I assume it's not connecting properly or something? Oh well, can't really spend much time on this as I'm at work, so I'll give it a try when I get home.

Well, I've got my starter. Time to remember that I live in the middle of fucking nowhere, so these games never really work for me...

Hell yeah. Gym right down the street from my place, and it's unclaimed.

How does Niantic decide what's a gym / stop again? Even from their previous game?
