What do you think of a woman that disapproves of gaming and finds it "immature"?

I played videogames all my life, but as I get older I just don't have the time.
And I'd rather use that free time watching movies, so the sad reality is the gamer in me is dying quickly.

But that whole "immature" argument is a load of rubbish.

A lack of time is annoying, but sometimes I don't even feel the need to play. As for women, I'm immune.

put a dick in her mouth while you play video games........next time you put in SSF4 shed had put your dick in her own mouth out of training.

i kid, i kid

I have two TV's in my bed room. One has the 360 & the DVD Player(PS2) the other is connected to the cable box. If a female wants to watch real housewives, American idol or whatever the fuck she can while I play something.

But to address the topic and hand it's gotten better. Most females I know have at the very least shown a fleeting interest in gaming if not a genuine one. I know several chicks who own or expressed interest in purchasing a Wii. And I've been asked countless time if I play/own Rock Band or Guitar Hero..Too bad those games take a big fat shit on my gaming tastes.

Horrendous.

The girl i'm talking to is into gaming (it's awesome to know I can disscuss Uncharted and Street fighter with her), so if a lady isn't game at all, i'm not interested.

gaming is supposed to be mature?
She should be lucky you're not a sport fan :-/
I mean at least you won't get drunk over a victory for your team :-/

Many women like this have come into contact with guys that sit around the house practically all day and play video games. They then assume any guy into video games will be like this, completely missing the fact that these men in question often suffer from an addictive personality, or low motivation, or something like that.

Unfortunately there are a lot of things that get scapegoated like this:

Chances are you know at least one person who doesn't drink because he/she doesn't want to become "a party whore, or an alcoholic".

How about the people who won't smoke weed because they don't want to spend the rest of their life in "a bonged-out haze"?

Football is another good one, plenty of people immediately think of dudes who won't leave the couch any time a Sunday game is on when they think of pigskin.

Anyway, you get my point. Show me a recreational activity, and I will show you someone who had an ex obsessed with it, and from that point on a negative opinion about said activity. Video games just get a large chunk of this hate because they are a popular timewaster.

Depends on how much I love her, but if she really cared for me I doubt she would be insistent on me not partaking in what I enjoy.

The last girl I was with would ask me to play the DS as we lied in bed together. She enjoyed watching me play Super Mario 64 DS for some reason.

Just explain to them the function of it. The fact is that games are simulated task/accomplishments. For some guys it's enough to watch sports and feel a part of that, and for other guys they like the interactivity of videogames. We are built to like doing and finishing things but it's nice if we can get the feeling in a more relaxing way. It's the same as how they have a need for all this relationship stuff but a lot of times will scratch that itch with TV drama instead of real life drama. There is nothing immature about finding safe and convenient ways to satisfy our primal desires; in fact, that is part of what makes civilized society.
Good advice.

I've met plenty of girls who didn't play games (and plenty who did - usually the classics, which is all fine and dandy by me), but none who told me it was 'immature' and to grow up. Even the extremely precocious 30 year old Jesus freak. I couldn't date a girl so shallow and closed minded, if they forced me to choose between my interests and her, I'll get rid of her... it's not like I don't have any other options or anything :P

First time my now-girlfriend came over, she was very impressed to see I still had a working NES and Genesis, we stayed up all night alternating turns on Sonic 1
beat it but didn't get all the Chaos Emeralds :P
. She is more of a reader than a gamer nowadays, but she hears me out when I talk about games. Doesn't like animu for some reason though.

Well, most girls and women I know or meet (emphasis on "most", not all of them) DONT even HAVE a real hobby of their own.

So, just ignore funny crap like that and play your games.

:lol this guy is a spineless coward. I bet his wife is humping his co-workers.

"i sell my playstation bought 1 month ago with 5 games including GTA4, COD WaW and MW2, Battlefield Bad Company 2 and M.A.G.
i also have a bluetooth mic and a wireless controller.
still over warranty. i get rid of it because my wife said it was me or the console."

My current girlfriend is a gamer herself. I persuaded her to buy a PS3 and she loves it. She bought God of War 3 and loved it and how bloody it was. We are currently playing through Borderlands together and plan on getting through 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand. I want to marry this girl.

My wife's not into games much at all (aside from something like Buzz or Rock Band), but she's never really given me a hard time about playing games most of the weekend or spending money on the hobby I love. I think she knew what she was getting into when we first met and I had a huge collection of PS1 and Dreamcast games.:lol

Not sure what I'd have done if she had issues with me playing games though; can't really see myself giving them up at the time or even now.

Everything in normal dose, that's the key. If you do lots of 5 hours shifts of any kind of games, the girls will get annoying, and it would be the same with any kind of hobby, even stuff like hanging out in the garage fixing stuff.

It's no different than every other hobby. How much time and money does it take from you? Are you spending 1000$ a year+ and playing 40 hours a week, Or is it like 400 or less and you may get in some 12-15 hours a week. Normally when the Miss is watching TV, or so forth?

If she is that outright against them. She is going be asking herself why she can't find a man. There really isn't anything wrong with being a nerd/dork these days. Humorously enough, it's that type of quality that normally separates the girls you want to be around/date, and the ones who you'll fuck and never want to see again.

Exactly. As long as you're still fulfilling your responsibilities and and gaming in moderation, how is it different than any other hobby? The negative stigma associated with video games is astounding. I can somewhat understand it though, being that gaming is probably the most interactive form of entertainment. Meaning, it can sometimes unfortunately lead to a distortion between whats real and whats a game.

It's funny, I work with women who are like this. They have this attitude that games are stupid, immature, a waste of time etc...

Yet EVERY FUCKING DAY they're discussing whatever shitty reality TV show was on the night before. Bachelor, Survivor, Rock of Love etc. I swear they must spend WAAAY more time watching TV then most gamers do playing games.

I guess. I mean, if you're a fucking lunatic.

lol yup! Plus don't forget the sheer maturity involved in watching and reading about what's going on in celebrities lives 24/7.

What the fuck dude

Anyway... My wife thinks half the shit I do (video games, comic books, generally being an ass) is immature. Who cares as long as you're having fun.

Women need attention to survive, and gaming gets in the way of that. Not my type of girl to date. I usually try to get involved with girls who game.
Pretty true. Fortunately mine is understanding of my habits although she'll occasionally give me crap about it. She likes a few games but mostly is uninterested.

How dare a woman find pretending to be a space marine or a seventeen year old androgynous dude with a giant gun-blade immature? Seriously guys, most videogames are immature. There are some good, mature games out there, but they're few and far between. I just accept that the games I play are immature and say "so what"?

I've hidden my gaming hobby from any and all girls I've had a thing with so far and that is because most games indeed are immature and embarrassing, no matter what the nerd squads on message boards like these may claim. Maybe it means I'm a hypocritical spineless idiot, but I'm pretty sure it gets me more pussy this way.

Knowing that a girl is somehow "into gaming" is in itself also a huge turn-off for me. Ugh. You don't need to share every interest with your significant other.

I'm not a big gamer myself, but there are some that I do enjoy, and I try not to give gamers a hard time.

Everyone needs a hobby, after all.

When that hobby consumes the relationship, however, to the point where you don't really do anything with the girl, or all you do together is (you) play games and (she) sits on the couch, bored, you'll soon find yourself playing games while (she) finds another man to fill her needs.

Solution: have more sex. With each other.

Although I'm not too proud of it, I feel the same way.

Oh this brings me to something else. A once-friend I had told me that one of the bad things about my ex-girlfriend is that she liked video games and that any girl who likes video games is not a real women. He... yes he... thinks that video games are strictly a "guy thing" although he himself doesn't care for video games. I wouldn't doubt that some women out there actually think that if they like games, they may not be feminine enough. Some may actually be afraid to like gaming. At least one good thing is I find many women nowadays, and very attractive one's at that, love gaming. I for one hope my next girlfriend is a gamer again.

i'm nerd enough for both of us. :D
the only game she went crazy about was castle crasher. beating it together was fun. and she liked watching me play heavy rain (ya its like a movie :P) but if she would enjoy gears of war, that would be way too much for me.

dont have a problem with girls being a nerd, but please not the way i am

A question for all the people saying that women who find games immature need to "Grow up",
how early would you tell a new girlfriend that you are a gamer? Just curious. (This is a real question, no sarcasm or anything)

i never said first bit about women "growing up" but

just like i wouldn't feel the need to mention that i'm a "film watcher", "book reader" or "music listener", i wouldn't mention i'm a "gamer", but i'll talk about movies, books, music or games if they come up.

gamer, fuck that word.

I have a problem with my boyfriend telling me I'm playing too much. I think he has more of an issue because I tend to go on like BC2 marathons where he would've played like 3 or 4 games in that time..
