But a Nintendo system still got Generations (the 3DS).

Besides, didn't Sonic's Amiibo sell really well in the States?

I think it did, but I don't think it, Pac-Man or Mega Man got reprints. Why I dunno, cuz those were all very popular.

I mean, the Mega Man amiibo doing well didn't stop MMLC from not hitting Wii U to the confusion of EVERYONE.

NO, it's NOT. There's ONE re-imagined stage in this and one new one (in the Demo).

They even said on the stream that the game would have lots of new stages...
Good to hear, and I hope they deliver on that promise. It's not too hard to analyze Sonic level designs from decades back, there's no doubt Taxman/Stealth and PagodaWest can make the old feel new while doing genuinely new things (like this versatile Drop Dash mechanic).

Seems like a missed sales opportunity not to release this on PS3 and 360. Would cost next to nothing to port and would sell a shit load.

I want to get excited about this, but the idea that they basically just re-used assets from the original games to make some kind of homebrew/modded version of the original games just seems.....tacky.

I mean Wii U is the only console with Freedon Planet and Freedom Planet 2 has been confirmed for a Nintendo console release (developer's words).

A launch Sonic game will obviously do well. It's gonna be there.

Remember when they got the guy who nailed Sonic's music to compose Sonic 4's music?

Remember when they got the guy who nailed Sonic's physics and gameplay mechanics to handle Sonic 4's physics and gameplay mechanics?

because I don't

Yeah, but it's still Sega.

Im in the alternate Sonic cycle where I refuse to believe any Sonic game will be good until it's out.

Elemental shields confirmed!

It's not a bad thing bring some remixed stages, sadly the physics looks off from the classic sonic games. Hope the emulation guys working in this project will nail the physics :)

...

Wtf man?

How are you even looking that the physics are wrong? They got Christhian AND Taxman onboard of this game..

It did, noticeably high, kind of regret not getting a second one now.

I have faith that Taxman and Stealth will get it.

Wow. This is actually a game that I wished for but by the way Sega was treating the IP I was convinced that it will never ever happen, it's a Sonic game that is:

-Fully 2D.
-Sonic looks normal in it.
-Doesn't include the rest of the unimaginative, unappealing cast of friends and foes in the newer Sonic games.

Color me surprised and excited.

There's a ton of new assets in that trailer.

I'm glad Sonic has a chance to finally get a decent faux-retro game to stand up alongside the likes of Mega Man 9, Fantasy Zone II DX (yeah, that's a remake, but it might as well be a new game) and Castlevania ReBirth.

Who is Christian white head?
What is cannonhead?
Who is hyperion?

And did sonic team make it?

Is the emulation guys, maybe they are ripping the sprites and working on the physics.
It's funy that there is that much ppl to make a 2d sonic game.
The Sonic team don't remember how to make a Sonic game?

As a gamer who's not big into Sonic aside from the Adventure titles, why is this a big deal? Didn't Sega do this with the episodic content and it failed miserably? How is this different?

Pixel art? :(

Couldn't we get HD sprites or vectors or something? Why are 2D games always relegated to this? Unlike a lot of indies, Sega has the budget.

Who is Christian white head?
Taxman, the guy responsible for making the Retro Engine which he then used to do ports of Sonic CD, Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 to have them running native in 16x9, 60fps, etc.
What is cannonhead?
The company Stealth is with, a coder who worked on Sonic 1 and 2 ports with Taxman, been apart of the Sonic Retro scene for years and is pretty much an expert in knowing how the original games worked and what tricks they used on the hardware, etc.
And did sonic team make it?
Nope, this is a surprise side project we're getting, the main Sonic Team game (done by the Generations team) is yet to be revealed later on.

Next step is Nintendo hiring the best Super Mario World hackers to make Super Mario Bros 4

Cause FUCK IT THIS IS GREAT

Isn't that essentially already happening with Super Mario Maker but with access to a ton of creators levels. Also New Super Mario Bros. with multilayer also ensures that won't happen.

- Because it's not made by Sega
- It's made by a guy who did better ports of their Classic games than Sega did
- It looks like a Genesis game
- No Shitty friends (yet)
- No talking (yet)
- Sonic isn't an NBA center (might be a power-up)
