So fat chance of it running Breath of the Wild at a steady 1080p60 then?

Alright.

The Wii U is a 176 GFLOPS machine. The X1 can hit 512 GFLOPs. They could easily crank the game up.

As a note, my personal thought is that they are going to cap the GPU processing power in handheld only mode. Sounds all but confirmed if they have a beefy CPU and a handheld CPU crammed in there. If they had a 540p screen running at 170 GFLOPs, that'd give better than Wii U graphics and cut power consumption. We'll see, though; part of the problem with SOCs is sustained processing power before thermal limits are hit.

No way Breath of the Wild is going to have a comparable experience to Wii U on that thing...

...unless we're missing a pretty large piece of the puzzle here, which is possible. Some kind of docking station that increases its power when you're at home would make some sort of sense.

lol
See above.

The doc will just do dumb hdmi/power passthrough. At best, it may provide the wireless controller connection. I wouldn't be surprised if they include a motion bar connector for some BC.

Don't expect any CPU/GPU processing.

I believe you can also disconnect the two controllers for "remote" play with a friend when you aren't at home.

I think we're looking purely at a remote power connector and HDMI hookup.

The sales data also currently indicates that the West is currently being very well served between MS, Sony and PC. How exactly do you propose Nintendo brute force their way into that race? With Animal Crossing and Mario Party?

They simply really aren't bruteforcing their way, this is a handheld that can act as a console.

End of the main series from Game Freak. There would still be spinoffs, and maybe even a reboot by another dev. Game Freak might shift focus to mobile, current consoles, and PC. We already know that they have PS4 and Xbone dev kits, and I doubt that they bought them to make only one game. Perhaps they were preparing to part ways with Nintendo.

The age of Pokemon is done?

Fake edit: If this thing is around XB1 level, why are people doubting it can run BOTW well

Base Station and Unit are pretty much my dream answer. Tegra still is a big surprise to me; Nvidia must be offering a good deal.

September does not shock me either, all the 3DS models launched quickly.

September reveal. March 2017 launch already announced.

Western third parties (that aren't indie)? Yeah, probably. Aside token stuff like Skylanders and Lego.

Japanese third parties though? Not by a long shot.

Japan devs (who produce console level games) are all going Unreal Engine 4 and Ps4/PC.

And on PC, which has a greater market that NX by default, the Japangame ports came late / or not polished (altho it getting better).

So yeah, japan is even more off then West lol. Like the wiiu, there is more west third party suppport for that console then japanese, by a large margin actually.

People believe this is the Tegra X2

Despite my last post (It's a joke guys, Tegra X1 is about 150+* (*Correction: 400+) GFLOP above the Wii U)

I really hope this is true, because I'm not buying both a handheld and a console to play their games. I missed out on all of the 3DS stuff because of that.

Knowing my damn luck, I've probably jinxed it and it's not actually happening.

Does anybody have a clue how big Motion Plus is? Would it be feasible to use it in the Controller Addons so you would have Motion gaming as well. Could theoretically be another Reason to have detachable Controllers.

Here's another thing, since the NX is basically a handheld, kiss the hardware storage goodbye. At most we will have 128GB of storage and how large will the games be for those who go digital?

Probably 32 Gigs.

But it doesn't work as a Two Player on-the-go solution, which I presume is the point. Nintendo has a slew of controller options for the home docked set up.

The controllers thing isn't clear, in fact there are 2 possibilities in the case the two controller parts are both an half of a gamepad:

-they become a single full gamepad, in that case there's no reason for them to be completely untied unless they are something like wiimote or ps move

-they are indipendent half gamepads, but in that case you cannot play modern games with those so what would be the point?

Well, I did watch a video recently about a theory that Sun and Moon are the end of the series (or the last games before a reboot). And the first trailer said "it all comes together" as if this is the culmination of the entire series. It's actually very possible that Sun and Moon are the end.

yep thats right

Nintendo are done making Pokemon games forever now

Third party games of course. Everyone is chomping at the bit to stop playing them on the consoles they already own to make the jump to Nintendo.

At least I won't be disappointed anymore about the fact that Nintendo still does not provide cross buy and cloud saves for VC titles, lmao.

So solely speaking about it as a console, how much better than a Wii U? I keep being surprised what developers managed to do with the Wii U hardware, so anything better will be great, just a shame if it's not at least going to be similar to Xbox One and PS4 capabilities.

If we take the rumor for accurate, the devkits that the devs have struggle to reach xbox one level

It won't.

Wii U is even slower than most people think ;)

It's honestly a weird mix of interesting and entertaining that people don't realize how much progress has been made in the mobile or general CPU/GPU spaces since the Wii U's launch. There are phones equipped with combinations of the two that outdo the WIi U.

If this thing isn't at least a DECENT step up in visual quality over the Wii U, it's highly HIGHLY unlikely that I will buy it. I also think it will be a big mistake of them.

Not that I have any interest in these games myself but do EA release mobile versions of FIFA, Madden, etc? I'm assuming that big christmas franchises of Battlefield, Call of Duty and their like don't get mobile releases at the moment? I know Call of Duty has now dropped the crappy legacy editions from PS3 and 360 so there's probably no reason for them to support this machine either.

Just based on this concept, I don't understand how they want to win families back. Or get 3rd parties on board.

Will be very interesting when they reveal the system.

So instead of Mario handheld and Mario console each generation we'll get Mario 1 and Mario 2? I guess that is exciting if you were the type of person that bought two console each gen just to play every Nintendo game and now you just need to buy one.

Pretty much. I don't know why so many people are so excited.
Nobody outside the really hardcore Nintendo crowd is going to buy this.

I don't care if it bombs. The market is already in great shape between mobile, ps4, and PC. I'll be happy if this is a cheap way to play all of Nintendo's games. If not, I'll shrug and move on except to laugh at it bombing every once and a while.

and with that my NX care-o-meter has hit zero. While I expected this to be the NX from the start I was hoping Nintendo would try to reboot the NES brand and give Sony and MS one last uppercut going after the console lead.

Oh well.

Well, I'm OK with this. However, it looks like 3rd parties will be non-existent again this time around. The thing is, I personally don't need Nintendo hardwares to play 3rd party games; I have my gaming PC for that, but Nintendo hardwares do need 3rd party games to be able to survive in the market; the 3DS and WiiU are living proofs of that.

That's why as a PC + Nintendo gamer I'm OK with this but at the same time worried about Nintendo's financials.
