No, it is not. The consoles coming in 2017 aren't even supposed to new consoles with new software made specifically for it. But there's always the chance they do start transitioning to those consoles and then you have people outraged by the fact they are splitting the user base as seen in the Scorpio and Neo threads.

If you can stream to the docking station, then why would you ever need to plug it into the docking station for it to be called a 'docking station'?
So its not using the handheld but the controller or do you mean base station instead to boot the system?
There are controllers addons with power button attached too for phones if you mean that.
If it just is mirror from your handheld, than i don't know what you're saying and it's still the same as phone. Even if i need to boot up using my phone, it doesn't matter and change nothing in what i said before.
We'll see when Nintendo actually shows off the NX.
I doubt it will just straight up be a Tegra K1.

It's not, it's a pretty cool setup. The older you get, the less free time and the harder it is to justify multiple platform purchases. Something that can do both handheld and console duties is a practical godsend for full time/parent/study people if the content is there.
I take your point it probably won't be super high powerful like the other console revisions. But near enough is good enough if it's easy to port to.
There are basically only 2 options for Nintendo to power this thing.
X1 or Parker.
X1 makes for a fantastic Handheld but would be a pretty disappointing console. Parker would make for a respectable Console that would be in the XBO/PS4 range but not exceeding it and could always underclock itself for handheld mode

Edit. I feel like I jumped all over this (negatively) too soon. Just did some reading up on the Tegra X1, which Eurogamer says the dev kits are based on, and it's pretty good. Much more powerful than I'd thought.

I meant mostly about his response to The actual Console were talking about. Neo will be for ultra bluray 4k video playback, and mainly VR. There will be a few games here and there to take advantage of it, but almost all the games they showed this E3 were running on current hardware not NEO.
Scorpio that's a different thing altogether as they dont super strict guidelines set for, they let developers use it at their discretion is sounds like.

Capacity really isn't a big issue. 32 GB is more than Wii U's 25 GB discs. They can get larger chips if they want, but 32 GB should be more than enough.
Hopefully I'm just missing something .If it's Tegra 1, I'm guessing that's Nvidia Shield tablet level performance? Is it the same guts? I don't know if anyone has the teraflops handy on that. But I think that's 2014 tech, so I just feel like we're not getting the full story yet.

I always thought hybrid because the timing of both the End of life for the 3DS and Wii U seem to be lining up perfectly for merging the two.
Zelda: Breath of the Wild on a cart is going to be sick. The 90's are truly back.
My point is that the content won't be there or will be heavily compromised if it is.

My exact sentiments. This is unprecedented power in a mobile SOC in comparison to its peers. This will outclass everything when it releases.
Imagine if the Scorpio will release next year with a Nvidia X.
this sounds dumb, but going off what nintendo did for the n64, gc, wii, new 3ds, and what they touted, eventually, for the wii u, do either options contribute to being able to play games or switch to an os faster?

This is pretty much why I'm excited for it. When I first got my 3DS, I wished I had MH3U on Wii U instead. When I got MH4U and a full time job, I'm totally grateful that it is on the 3DS and is so easy to pick up and play.

Given how much #teamhybrid was shouted down, you'd think maybe we could now be given the benefit of the doubt on other stuff relating to NX.
I mean, the WiiU streaming tech exists does it not? This seems like THE perfect device to implement it in.
We still have to wait and see what this feature is that Nintendo wants to keep secret from their competitors that the NX will have.
