The International 2016 (Aug 3rd - 13th)

wtf?? I wake up to OG and LGD losing to 2nd tier teams?? Is this even real life?

2nd tier the new 1st tier.

I do hope OG stay together though, going 1-4 in the main bracket was just a major inconvenience in the history of their great track record. They're also incredibly easy to root for because everyone on that team is just so damn likable.

Obviously they'll play half the game on Wednesday, save it and then continue again on Thursday except everyone has to play a different hero now.

go home, moon

what to expect? booty wizards and pit lords.

EG will win ti6 then fear announce his retirement. rtz will go back to eg but they will keep losing cause most of them have no motivation and rtz leaves again. the cycle continues.

I see no scenario where EG welcomes RTZ back to their team after not only leaving twice, but stealing their championship-caliber 3 position (Universe) in the process, almost destroying the team and their chances for success in the process. Really, why would they want him at all? He's a tilt lord and when he was playing carry for EG (when Fear was on support) his decision making and play was inferior to just about every carry for a top 8 team that I can think of. I specifically remember one of his anti-mage performances for EG at...maybe Shanghai? He kept dying doing stupid shit. He reminded me of Xboct in all the wrong ways. He's an interesting guy but I wouldn't want him within a mile of my team.

If Fear can manage to carry another team to a TI win, not only should he not retire, but he should make plans to play for years to come. Maybe he could just take a few months off, observing but not playing to let his hand/wrist rest. Then go right back to ballin. He is perhaps the single best and most consistent player in the world. No reason to retire if you can figure out a schedule that allows you to remain healthy and make the kind of money he has access to. Once you walk away from this kind of money, nothing he'll be able to do in life will give him similar wealth. Play it until the wheels fall of, then retire at 35 as the legend he is. The fucking dream.

Couldn't have been Shanghai--he played almost exclusively Sven and Drow at Shanghai. His decision making has definitely gotten better, but I agree there's no place for him in EG. I think the problem has been discussed to death, but the main issue is RTZ doesn't fit into EG or Secret because he wants to be the playmaker, but those teams already have players for that--sumaiL and EE--and he doesn't have good enough decision making skills to just be a reliable carry all game, picking fights when it's good for the team, like Fear. RTZ needs a team built around him, and you can tell during the second half of Group Stage Puppey started trying to experiment and draft around RTZ--giving EE Bat and more passive pushing heroes like DP, giving Bulba better setup heroes, and drafting lineups that could fight 4v5--but it just didn't work with their team. If Secret went with a lineup like RTZ/Dendi/Bulba/Puppey/PLD, I think they would work a lot better, because Dendi is the type of player that can fight early and setup for RTZ, and isn't so grEEdy.

He's earned 2 mil so far and DOTA2's prize pools are expanding across the board. He'll only earn more since tournaments are giving away more. It's a shame he's on the older side, since I could image some of the younger guys earning well past 5mil and beyond if they stay consistent with a bit of luck. Nor has EG really decayed outside the shuffle. They placed 3rd in the following two majors and bombed Shanghai due to the switch up. Now that they are back in one piece, they are once again performing strongly.

Now is basically when he can rack in the most money of his career, so stopping now would be on the more foolish side I feel like.

And even if he retires, they'll throw him in a coaching job or broadcasting job for sure.

Why is DC not a European team and why is OG not a World team? This makes no sense.

The first is 4/5 European, the later is 2 Denmark, 1 Jordan, 1 Canada and 1 Israel.

How is that Arteezy's responsibility? He is some 18yo kid. Universe is a grown ass man and decided for himself.

Also, EG winning the whole thing is far form a foregone conclusion. I for one think they match up awfully with MVP and would lose 2-0 in two short-ish one-sided games (because that's MVP's approach to the game right now).

And whether a team is NA, EU, SEA or from wherever should definitely be determined by their sponsor's registered location. If there is no sponsor, there should be clear cut rules although I'm not sure how to go about that. Technically, you can have 5 players from 5 different continents forming a team.

I really cant get around my head that DC is a NA team. They have ONE player.

DC are NA when they suck, and EU when they do well duh!
On a serious note though, they are playing for an american organization, and are located and compete in the NA scene.

Also - Go [A]lliance, time to knock Fnatic all the way back to Malaysia!

People desperately want a "home" team to root for, if they don't have one they'll invent it out of thin air. The whole team "nationality" means jack shit. CIS teams are considered CIS but magically become EU teams in certain competitions. Now even Middle Eastern players are becoming European... soon enough the whole world will be Europe.

but the org is european ....

People change it all the time depending on what they want. I wlild say it depends on where they play most of their matches from. I think Secret's team house is in Turkey so they are an EU team--despite being mostly NA players. DC is based out of the US and their players boot camp and play matches in NA, so they are an NA team--same with coL for that matter.

They went through the NA qualifier however

How does it work if a team gets a direct invite?

Israel is considered European in Foorball and ESC, to be fair. :lol

Professional sports teams change all the time. Why waste your time with players you can't win shit with when it's your career and money on the line? Poor performances get you kicked everywhere in economy and sports.

I have a feeling people will turn on Puppey soon, they can only cut him slack for so long

Yeah. EE might not have meshed well with the team but Secret's poor performance and lack of team "synergy" is ultimately on Puppey's head.

PPD gets a lot of (often deserved) hate but at least he knows how to run a winning team.

i think his facebook account might have been hacked, that doesn't seem like something puppey would say (even if he's thinking it) and the next post down looks worse

Look at his history of other comments though. Not to mention his sexist tirade he threw at Sheever a couple years ago, in person.

I hope he and anyone that associates with him as a friend/teammate gets what they deserve, falling short of mediocrity.

I'd go with the hacked idea as well.

Secret going public with reshuffle drama during a tournament isn't a new thing.

Puppey seemed to stay out of it last time though. It was goofball owner that went public first if I recall correctly.

Sure, but being a dick about it like that Facebook post, is not what professional sports teams do. I'd hope that's Puppey trolling or something.

More over, you don't really see people being kicked right before the transfer window ends without even getting notified. Managers generally give warnings, announcements of interest to sell, or notification of not renewing a contract, or whatever.

There's just a total lack of professionalism, really.

Kuku's post game interview was lovely lol. Really enjoyed watching the replay of game two even though I knew OG would lose.

I didn't click the Facebook link. I just read he got kicked which is super unsurprising if it turns out true.
