Destiny – The Collection Trailer

I've been meaning to jump into this game because I love the premise and art style but at this point I think I'm just gonna wait for destiny 2.
If the jump from Destiny to Destiny 2 is anything like the jump from vanilla to The Taken King, you'll probably be more impressed with Destiny 2 after actually playing the first Destiny.

Standalone, The Taken King is a pretty average DLC with not much content considering it's the same price as a WoW expansion ($40), but what allowed it to be as successful as it ended up being was the low expectations everybody had for it based on what vanilla brought to the table.

You also have the benefit of jumping back into the first Destiny with everybody else when Rise of Iron comes out next month.

If I didn't care at all about multi-player and wanted to wait this out until next year, would I be missing anything?
Not sure you'll be getting much out of Destiny going in with the mindset of not caring about multiplayer.

You'd have a harder time finding groups for the end game content like Raids. But you'd still be able to find groups. That's assuming there isn't another small expansion next year.
Kind of assumed not caring about multiplayer implied he wouldn't be raiding.

It's the same idea as the "GotY edition" except they haven't finished making content for it. WoW does a similar thing and rolls older expansions into the base game over time.

Destiny 2 will be out next year though, making this probably the last time they'll do this for Destiny.

Ah ok so it's just standard MMO format.

Comes with a Level 40 character boost.

Wonder if the Lvl 40 boost will be with RoI like the 25 was with TTK Downloaded version

Getting to Level 40 isnt hard.

The hard part is after that, getting your Light Level up.
The main thing is making sure to have your light as high as possible before identifying new items, since they tend to have light a little bit higher than than your current stat. It's tedious to equip yourself that way in the game regularly, but some of the third party apps have a "Maximize Light" button that will swap around equipment from your other characters and vault automatically to raise light as high as possible to make it way easier.

As someone who was utterly bored with the beta (which proved to be a good indication of the vanilla game), how improved is this game after Taken King? How many DLCs exist after Taken King anyway?

Basically, if I buy it, Id like to buy it for everything other than the base game.

How is MP? Is it an unbalanced mess of a game still? I was so disappointed that the makers of Halo made Destiny's MP so ... average

Everything all on the disc. Great way for new players to jump in. I want to get back into Destiny but just have way too much to play.

No doubt this is it before Destiny 2.

It's probably just a vanilla disc with dlc codes for the rest of the content.

I'm glad they're doing this for new players, although right now you can get TTK Legendary for $20, and pre-order Rise of Iron for $30, which is $10 cheaper than this collection. Only difference is TTK gives a lvl 25 boost vs the lvl 40 boost here.

Just noticed this "Destiny - The Collection Upgrade"

Special Offer! Destiny: The Taken King Xbox 360 owners can purchase Destiny - The Collection at a discounted price. Pre-purchase to begin playing Destiny, Expansions I & II, and The Taken King Today. Also includes Iron Gjallarhorn and Iron Gjallarwing Sparrow.*

Not sure how many folks can benefit, but if you're coming from 360 or PS3 and own TTK, looks like there will be a different upgrade option.

Like everything else with Destiny, it depends on what you are trying to get out of the experience. If you are after a "SP" experience then it won't matter much when you show up but if you want to partake in MP then it is important to be there day 1, as that is when the community will be at its liveliest.

I'm still 1 pt shy of hitting 335 myself. Need a Helmet and a Ghost. Hopefully will get lucky during Iron Banner.

Level 40 boost. Not bad.
That way you can immediately use your pre-order item and start grinding for 385 with 1/4 of your first subclass unlocked.

It's a good deal for new comers, sure...but will the older end game content be updated with the new light level? If not, that content will only be good for running through it once. Not to mention how hard it will be for new comers to have to go out of there way to find a group of 5 other people that meets their gaming schedule for those outdated activities.

So is it safe to say theyre done making expansions for this game or do you think there will be a definitive "complete edition" somewhere down the line?

No, this is pretty standard "box level" being consolidated like other MMOs do. WoW has done this for a long time and it's the same publisher. This is going to happen for Destiny every year.

Taken King Retail was also a box level consolidation.

surprised they aren't doing the give away old content thing blizzard does with WoW.

They practically are at this point, but they HAVE been releasing all the PvP maps from the last expansion free to all players when the next expansion comes out. For some reason it's never directly advertised, it's always just been in the patch notes, but all of the HoW and Dark Below maps are free to everyone right now. I'd assume all of Taken King's maps are going to be the same thing.

I've been meaning to jump into this game because I love the premise and art style but at this point I think I'm just gonna wait for destiny 2.

I played vanilla at launch (basically up until they patched the loot cave) and was not impressed. Got rid of it.

I've heard a lot of good things about the game after a couple of expansions so I've been sort of curious, keeping an eye on sales and such. Supposedly big improvements.

This final collection catches my interest a little bit for the same reason, but I dont think by enough to convince me to spend 60 bucks. I'm uncertain and understandably cautious.

Isn't the LV40 boost (kind of useless) since you're not getting aby experience for your subclasses? That stuff takes some quite a bit of time.

I don't know since I still haven't used the LV25 booster that came with TTK.

There's not much experience required to become familiar with your subclasses. All the classes in the game are pretty much the same aside from the unique ability that's not up all that frequently.

Only requirement is to get familiar with the actual game mechanics, so it's really useful for someone who's just making an alt.

Incredible deal for anyone who still hasn't jumped on the Destiny train. Some of the best gunplay and art design this generation

LOL they make it sound like it is 5 games in 1.

Edit: Vid eventually clarifies that it is DLCs.

Also, "Destiny: The Collection" sounds quite final to me. Next up is definitely Destiny 2.

Also it just jumps your level it doesnt level any skills or abilities so you will be level 40 without a grenade or super.

Just better to play through the entire story mode. You will be level 40 and like 300+ light level. With the light level max going up again in ROI you are in business. It is so easy to do.

I still have my level 40 boost sitting in the vault from TTK that thy gave everyone. I even re-rolled my Titan in April and was 40 and 310 light by the end of that month.

Do you even destiny? All 3 classes are pretty distinct as are their subclasses.

This is a great deal for anyone wanting to play Destiny. I've been playing since Vanilla and the total amount I have spent between Vanilla and TTK is around €150.

I'm interested. I bought Destiny at launch and played through most of the vanilla game before getting bored. I never bothered with any DLC, but after the praise TTK got, I became interested again. I was just about to pick it back up for $20, but I might wait now and just get this.

I am glad to hear that all the PS4-exclusive stuff is now just useless junk.

It was a bummer back when they used to cheat Xbox users out of strikes and legit content.

I must say something.... the gunplay is incredible.... but the lack of 60 fps really hurts the multiplayer.

Destiny 2 should focus on the 60 fps design (even if the resolution gets hurt on the legacy consoles - Neo will be already available and Scorpio in a few months)

Didn't bought the expansion pack, neither the TTK, I must say... I'm tempted.... I must resist....
