Oh, noooooooooo..

MJ is in this?

thanks for the spoilers

LOL

Bear in mind that the source on this is El Mayimbe.

I was hoping they wouldn't introduce MJ right off the bat, but Feige and company have proven that they know what they're doing, so I'm excited to see how it turns out.

He's been pretty dead-on for a while now where scoops like this are concerned.

I don't mind the race change, they can do whatever they want with their property. But did anyone else notice it's always the red headed characters?

The West family in The Flash. Jimmy Olsen in Supergirl. And now Mary Jane. Who will be next?
Ron Weasley got blonde as he grew up it seems. :p

MJ is also a spoiler now.

Hahahahahaha. Oh my god.

Well my daughter is going to flip out since she watches that KC show Zendaya is on and she digs SpiderMan a lot. So yeah, guess this movie will be on permanent rotation in my household once it hits Blu-ray.

I don't really care about that crap to be honest. Change whatever they want to make a good movie, doesn't have to be a literal translation from the comics
It robs them the sentimentality of their relationship. The ghost of Gwen Stacy is supposed to be a constant reminder to Peter of the care he should put to avoid getting MJ involved. Without a Gwen, MJ is just the plot armored lover of Peter.

Fine by me!

Though in the teaser footage they showed in Hall H, they didn't seem to be shooting for any of the popular/party girl stuff that people think of when they think of MJ. Her one moment was her wearing a hoodie and giving Peter a weird look after a spidey montage and going:

"What are you hiding, Peter?"

then a pause,

"Kidding, I don't care."

Unlike Dunst, Zendaya can both dance and sing, so she's got that much going for her.

Going to be hard to top Stone's Gwen though, she was one of the better comic casting choices of the past decade in an otherwise meh series.

Plus, Peter and Gwen make more sense for a HS relationship, girls like MJ wouldn't even fart in his general direction at that age.

We talking about the girl from the acne treatment commercials? She looks pretty white to me, but maybe has some mixed races in her genes

Hmmm, I am okay with this and I am sure that Marvel knows what they are doing as they are in the driving seat for this.

The big question is how different is this Mary-Jane from the meh Rami's Mary-Jane.

Eh, I'm sure she'll do great. Her hair matters so little for her character. The weirdest part is that they seem to be skipping Gwen and jumping straight to MJ? But like... I don't care. If I wanted the same spiderman story over and over, I'd never read any reboots.

Because Gwen is part of that god awful toxic Amazing Spider-Man movies and that movie is pretty recent.

Plus there is the whole angle that she has a "Dead Girl walking" target attached to her.

If they're using USM as a base for the relationships, the whole dynamic is completely different anyway. I wouldn't apply 616 dynamics in this situation.

you know Mary Jane met Peter like a 100 issues before Gwen died right

Fair enough, I'm still used to the LR days where he was closer to a 50/50 chance of being right.

Reading through Ultimate Spidey now, which nails the high school stuff. Sounds like they're probably taking inspiration from there, which sounds good to me.

I know, that was the point, they almost didn't get together, it adds depth to Peter. But maybe I'm asking Disney too much, this will be their 8-13 movie and I suppose that's ok.

Character development and psychological depth? Fuck that! Saccharine teenage romance is better!

You're making a lot of assumptions about a movie you haven't seen yet, bruh.

Now definitely the "Face it tiger" line will be in this.

And wow, Mary Jane and Liz Allan in the same movie. This movie is gonna be great.

The MCU cribs more from Ultimate U than 616.

Also, the article reads like this is unconfirmed. Should probably put rumor in the title, right? Unless I'm missing something.
