Whenever the current actors get old this is how they should continue on with the universe. Just replace them with alternate reality versions and have them take over the mantle. That way we don't need another round of origin stories for the same character.

Something like that could just as easily be accomplished with a timeskip and a few lines of dialogue, idk. I feel like origin stories are much less of a prerequisite now.
