According to a report from Univision, Donald Trump will unveil an amnesty plan that will provide a legalization path to millions of undocumented immigrants.

Sources tell Univision that the announcement is coming this week. The Republican candidate spoke Saturday at a meeting with Hispanic leaders where he also said he regrets comments about Mexicans.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump plans to present an immigration plan in Colorado Thursday that will include legalizing millions of undocumented immigrants, according to three people present at a meeting the candidate attended Saturday with Hispanic leaders at Trump Tower in New York.

"I really liked that Trump acknowledged that there is a big problem with the 11 million [undocumented] people who are here, and that deporting them is neither possible nor humane,” said Jacob Monty, a Texas immigration lawyer who attended the meeting.

After all of his rhetoric about immigrants, this is definitely out of left field.

The point is -- the point always was to get *attention*

That succeeded. He got the attention, he got the news coverage.

It's now time for him to act Presidential, which he is now attempting to do.

Why would he want to legalize the rapists?

But seriously It's too late Trump.

I would like to hear Hillary have a plan of her own though. It's about damn time.

Won't he lose existing support? But anyway this is the pivot I guess.

His supporters are well beyond brainwashed. They didn't leave him when he was at his worst, they certainly won't leave him when he's doing "better". It won't matter to them that this is in direct contradiction with what he's been saying up until now, they won't have a problem rationalizing the hypocrisy away.

I doubt he'll gain very many new voters with this, though. Everyone knows by now how much of a two-faced hack he is.

Don't think this would be that much of a gamechanger. Black vote is toast for him, women also and this won't earn him enough Hispanic votes, as Hillary already supports the idea.

Nah, existing supporters will be all for it. If they had half brain amongst the lot of them, they'd have called his bullshit weeks ago.

That populism for ya.

After the convention was the time to act presidential. He chose dumpster fire. Trump has already shown he is unfit for office, pivoting now only looks desperate and sad.

That's one hell of a pivot.

I see we've entered the "desperation" portion of the campaign. Contradicting what he's been saying for the better part of a year isn't exactly going to get traction though.

Just in time too. I thought he'd turn Alabama blue by October.

Secret Agent Trump.

His base is brainwashed to defend anything and everything that he does (see Mckenany, Kayleigh). The super far right will now want and expect immigration reform. When he loses, the republicans will "win" when Hillary proposes reform in the first 100 days.

Brilliant Comrade Trump. Brilliant.

Taco bowls for some, little Anerican flags for others.

The damage is done. It might net him a few votes, but this asshole has spent a year talking about building a wall and demonizing Mexican immigrants.

The same people that hate Clinton in part because of all her flip flopping will not care about this flip flop of Trump's of course.

I mean it's good though, if god forbid he does become president, and assuming he doesn't flip again (LOL) then at least immigrants won't have to worry about being deported.

Of course if you can flip so easily nothing to stop you from flipping back.

It's hard to understand context from single "lol" and "lmao" replies but I think I see where this is going.

To clarify: I'm not saying he *is* being presidential.

I'm saying this is what he's attempting to do. That's the whole point of this.

Seems like uttering the word amnesty is suicide for a Republican candidate. If he backtracks on this even his most hardcore supporters might start looking for the exit.

Legalize the people here, have Mexico build a wall to keep the rest out?

I dunno if he even needs to drill that second bit home anymore, I swear his current supporters will follow him off a cliff if need be.
He has flip-flopped so many times I'm not sure his supporters know what his platform is anymore, but I think he will lose a lot of support because he's basically saying no deportations.

One hell of a pivot

But I think his supporters are the kind that would definitely still support him if he shot someone in the middle of the street, but once he proposed amnesty they would flock en masse from his campaign.

yeah it almost seems like he's just trying to see what helps him in the polls, doesn't it? Like he'll say this, if his numbers go up then he'll stick to it if not then he has three month to reel it back in.

Because this isn't how pivoting works. He can't just say obviously unfeasible, outrageous, and racist shit and then turn around one day out of the blue and say the complete opposite. That's exactly the kind of behavior that gets a candidate called a flip-flopper and they get no brownie points with anyone.

The word amnesty has too many syllables though. He might be safe.

I really don't think they will at this point. They are on this train and there is no stopping until they arrive at the destination. They made up their minds and they still think Trump is the champion of change.

Could be wrong but I doubt it.

What kind of spin are the right wing pundits going to put onto this?

Better yet, soon as Trump does his first Interview after this, how is he going to explain it?

I think he'll say that he never said he wanted to deport them.

This idiot has been spouting out that he wants to deport all illegals all through the debates and the primaries, Fuck off with this, you don't care and this is bullshit
