Respawn details Titanfall 2 changes due to feedback (Speed, Titan acquisition, more)

These are the main things we needed. Very good Respawn, hoping the changes are really noticeable.

Also hoping for an attrition type mode with grunts. And Titan bash!

Have you been living under a rock or something? Titanfall 2 is multi-platform and has a single player campaign.

I think the point that poster was trying to make was that those were the only substantial changes to the original game that were necessary. I could be wrong though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

There is feedback and then there is what we call a tantrum. Many users on this forum have expertly displayed plenty of the latter.

The bigger issue is a lot of people made it sound like this was the final game, none of this could possibly change and therefore the game was dead and nobody should get it.

It's similar to how the Xbox was treated in the beginning, which certainly had issues, but there are still people today who are unaware of how different the Xbox is now to then. I'd hate to see this game fail simply because Respawn put out an in-progress product and people took it as final.

Smoke+wall and look up. Or jump out and toss C4 straight back, the explosive range nailed the pilot just about every time. Or you could not be an idiot walking around in the Titan by yourself.

You keep saying PUG like everyone played big tournament and had optimal loadouts that lacked smoke and cluster, but Smoke was the most common thing for Titans to have on PC. So much so that a common tactic was to leapfrog off the Titan in the hopes that the noise of you landing on the mech would trick the occupant to pop smoke early.

Though, as others have observed, arguing with you in these threads is a fool's errand.

Right, because most people don't actually know what they're talking about. Hence, you bringing up C4 which is equivalent to you suggesting to equip the smart pistol. In the real world of Titanfall play good players refrain from using those things. Understand?

Smoke is used, but rarely in PUG matches which consisted of the better players playing a highly skilled game, regardless everyone knows how to counter smoke, just like they know how to counter everything else, it's what makes good players GOOD players, right? . And if you're going to throw the "shut up elitist prick" at me then there really is no discussion is there? Because we'll just go in circles claiming each others knowledge of the game and how it plays is equal regardless of hours played and skill level achieved.

Exactly.

And that has a lot to do with the fact that Titanfall 2 is two months away and they're calling this an alpha build that they can somehow drastically change on a whim despite Titanfall 1's and nearly every other game's testing being for promotion and not actually having an impact on how the final game will turn out because of how closely they're done before the game needs to go gold.

Also, the Xbox everybody badly reacted to was altered drastically too close to launch because of how people reacted, and a lot of people didn't want to support a company that would just change their product on a whim like that. The E3 reveal alongside Sony burning them was a disaster. I mean, they even insisted on releasing it with Kinect and abandoned the damn thing like a month in.

This is what the game needed. Good job listening to the community, Respawn, I was doubting you.

Now to test these updates on the coming tech test, and see if it works out as much as it did in Titanfall 1.

Hopefully they have Attrition added, for us who liked the big battles full of AIs/Bots.

Sounds good respawn. Please implement these changes so i can go back to being hyped for Titanfall 2. Never played 1 so the beta was my first taste of the series and it wasn't a good time. Potential is huge though.

I find it hilarious that theyve realised all these non-network issues but decided not to conduct a PC test because they thought it wasnt needed. Im sure PC players must be looking forward to the game :p

Any faith in Respawn has disappeared as they really dont seem to have a good idea what TF was and how to translate that to TF2. Substantial changes now on the back of feedback doesnt give confidence...

Metroid has some stiff competition for the whiniest fanbase...
Just sayin. The sense of entitlement is insane.

All of these changes sound great, and I'm glad to see that Respawn is paying attention to fan feedback, especially in regard to the speed of play and titan acquisition. I had a good feeling that the maps we *didn't* see in the tech test would provide a lot of the variety we were craving. How about we make it easier for them to fine-tune the game by not forcing them to wade through waves of shit-posting to get to the actual constructive criticism and possible suggestions for improvement?

Having a specific desire for a product and not wanting to purchase that product it doesn't match up with what you want isn't entitlement. Some of you are really out there with wanting folks to hide their opinions regarding products they pay for with their money.

Well then there's your problem :)

I've been playing Destiny so while I'm now more used to that style of engagement I was quite happy with Titanfall 2. In fact, I was extremely happy that enemy players now have a visible health bar. Surprised nobody has really complained about that.

Destiny is mainly that way because half of the shots don't register and then you realize you're dead.

I never would have imagined that this was something people would be upset about if they removed it...

Not saying I disliked it, but I remember all the controversy around them when the game released.
They just need a better mode than bounty with grunts. Attrition was great.

That said, it's quite entertaining the number of 'power of the cloud' posts have been brought up. Some half seriously it seems. LOL

That's a lot of good news in there. I have to see how Kodai plays but that's definitely a spot of bright light in the darkness.

Most of that sounds good, I didn't really expect them to just give in and change everything. They seem to be willing to meet at the middle ground and even make those changes for 2nd tech test weekend.

Can't say I agree about their changes to rodeoing and shields.

I feel like as a solo player in pubs this is going to be a common occurence..

That thread was acting like nothing was possible in turns of changes last week lol. The only thing I see as a problem might be the ai stuff since that seems more of a hurdle to work out then anything

The balance issues here can easily be tuned. Glad they are.

Would like to see them make some changed to how easy it is to rodeo Titans to steal a battery and then instantly hook back on.

Either add some QTE where the Titan AI tried to shake you off and you hack the battery port, or just add some security delay after the battery is removed so Titans are not instantly hijacked again.

The silence is deafening regarding Attrition which strongly suggests it is gone. That to me is flat out unacceptable. It would be like COD removing TDM, Battlefield removing conquest, or Halo removing Slayer. It was the most popular mode by a long shot.

At least just give us a straight answer.

Ok a huge step forward,
However it really does depend on this timer duration and if it does keep making the game flow like on TF1

if we can now get attrition then I'm happy.

i am going to support this game even if what I played is much worse than the first. I am still going to buy the game regardless just to support the developers. I don't want this game to fail and we never get a sequel again.

but I do hope they fix it back to the root of the first.

All what we asked for is more contents in multiplayer ( guns etc ) and a single player. how hard is that?

This is why "wait until the game releases to complain!!!!" is a dumb idea. Kudos to listening to the fanbase, though there's still things I wish to see in TF2.

I wasn't checking for this game at all, but I'm very glad to see developers listening to their community. They're the lifeblood of your game, after all.

Nice to hear.

Thank you fans of the original that made your voices heard. We wouldn't have these changes if the majority were shrugging their shoulders, saying it was fine.

Slowly making it better, but now the game has gone from Day 1 to a wait for deal/EA Access.

Can't believe I'd say that for any game, let alone Titanfall 2.

Awesome changes, the Titans just need shields now because we know randoms don't work together in MM (and I play mostly solo).

On a smaller scale, I would like to be able to select the pilot body. Don't want to use a robot just because of the grappling hook.

These changes sound great. Forgive me for still being skeptical about the actual implementation and the things they didn't mention. I really want this game to be good.

Have hey addressed why hey switched the perspective from first person to third person in some parts? All I read was that some people liked it and sole didn't. It's so fucking immersion breaking.

Edit: people shouldn't argue with swolbro. He uses ridiculous claims and arguments about what the REAL titanfall player base did and does. As if he is the all knowing all seeing TF God. His counter arguments consist of "no they didn't! People did this!" In response to people having an opinion about the first game.

From what i remember going around the net it was that and player count only being 6v6. People just kept going all toxic and not giving the game a chance. Seems like people want to repeat that mistake, but this time those people are supposedly "fans"

Oh yeah, smoke. haha. so few people equip that in PUG matches that i sometimes forget about it. It's still something that any decent pilot can get away from quickly.

But listen if it were up to me i'd have the titan shields still in. I just will reserve judgement on this aspect of the game once we get to see all the abilities, all the titans, etc. The rodeo isn't a big deal to me. The change is fine for how most PUG situations play out with good players.

I never took off electric smoke since the day it was first unlocked lol. Can't tell you how many pilots were killed with it. Such a good perk.

I never would have imagined that this was something people would be upset about if they removed it...

Not saying I disliked it, but I remember all the controversy around them when the game released.

The overwhelming majority of those complaints were made by people who hadn't played the game and didn't understand how grunts actually functioned within the core gameplay loop.

If Kodai is shit then I'm gonna have to do some serious thinking about whether I want to support R2. There's even some quick blurbs in today's blogpost that show the underlying thinking that resulted in the current mass hasn't changed.

That said, I'm willing to give R2 another shot this weekend (something I wasn't actually planning).

One Titan per match is still not good enough in a game called TitanFall.

And two months is not nearly enough time to redo the maps. too little too late. the should have had the beta earlier in the year.

They aren't redoing the maps. They are showing others coming in the final game.

Disappointed that they've kept highlights around the opposing players.

Totally disagree with them in regards to R1 rodeoing being more damaging then the technique they've added to R2.

Will give them the benefit of the doubt and give it another go at the weekend, but if it's more of the same then count me out come launch day.
