Could the double cable sockets be direct connections for PS-VR as that uses two leads to connect the headset to the breakout box?

EDIT:
I mean the the two on the left. The other three being HDMI, Ethernet and Power from left to right.

From what we know Sony intends Neo to be a 4K media player with added benefits in some games for owners of 4K TVs, but in most cases not native 4K, but something that at least gets half way there. For everyone else the box will provide more stable frame rates, cleaner image quality and better effects.

The CPU issue makes it apparent that few games will get a framerate doubling up to 60, sadly. It's something I really wanted but just doesn't seem feasible for most titles. I can understand why from Sony's perspective, when they say that both of these consoles are essentially the PS4, they don't really want them so fundamentally separated that developers start doing crazy shit on Neo and leave the original PS4 game in a sorry state. The balance of power makes it easy for games to run well on both and for the Neo version to get that visual bump, but nothing too differentiated. And if all this is the case then it seems to me there's no way Sony can demand a high price for this. I think it should be the same price as PS4 was at launch, or perhaps even $50/£30 cheaper. Of course the Slim pricing will factor into this as well, and while I want to see Sony be aggressive in reality there's no reason for them to leave money on the table, plus the higher the price now the more competitive they can be should Scorpio pose any real threat.

What would be the use?
The same as the front USB ports but without cables dangling from the front of the console. Plus I still hope that one day Sony will allow us to use external drives for storage.

Doesn't PSVR require a USB connection with the PS4?
No Optical Out would be much more disappoiting especially for those who have 5.1 speakers only working with Optical Out.
True, both should be there for a premium product.

I would strongly consider not getting it if it didn't. I only use Astro's for sound on PS4 and they need an optical port.

If they don't include optical, you could always get a hdmi audio converter box, they are relatively cheap and would make the Neo still an option for you.

PS4 obese

Looking at the rear image it shows the power outlet at the same level as all other connections. On slim it is higher with the other connections lower and vice versa for OG PS4.

Could that work/does it make sense?

Otherwise this looks to have OG PS4 styling with a extra layer on top.

Well you obviously have to account for users at 1080p... Are you thinking they would target their Neo mode to 4k and just render that to 1080p?

Yeah? All games would have a single internal res based on NEO mode, that would scale to any TV regardless of resolution.

So if the game in NEO mode is running at 1800p, it would be downscaled for the 1080p tv, or upscaled to 4K output like consoles usually do.

I don't see why they would need two completely seperate configurations for the NEO mode specifically when it would be easier to just have a single base PS4 mode that emulates normal PS4, and the patched NEO version that takes advantage of PS4NEO, and scales to whatever TV a person has.

Sorry, specified thread does not exist or has been deleted or is being reviewed in chinese.

Well this confirms the drawings were almost accurate.

Actually I think he has drawn the ports on the wrong side if this is otherwise accurate?

Both PS4's now have the optical drive and rear connections on opposing sides unless the extra height as allowed Sony to do it this way?

Also where is the HDD cover?

Well the extra height and maybe extra width allowed to have all ports in one row including the power port..

I really hope they increase the HDD speed or at least reach 2TB.

2TB SSD internal so you'll never need to change it! :p

Seriously though I wonder how correct the proportions are. It does seem really bulky, but the two slots instead of one means double the amoun of side ventilation. Given the specs I really do wonder why the console seems so bulky considering Sony are masters in making slim consoles. Do we think they're competing with Microsoft on the noise stakes (i.e. Whisper quiet)?

Prob on the back like on the Slim.

so...what vr breakout box?

Yup.

It never made any sense that Neo would include the breakout box.

Because that would mean there are duplicate features for anyone who buys a PSVR if they own a Neo. It's confusing.

Far, far easier to separate out breakout box from Neo from marketing and SKU management perspective.

Nothing points to them doing that.

And why would they when every PSVR comes with the box? Why waste money on something PSVR owners already have? Makes no sense.

This, so, so much.

The logical extension of Neo having the breakout box built-in... means that Sony would want to sell 2 different versions of PSVR. One with breakout box, one without.

Why the hell would they do that and further confuse the market place?

The idea that Sony would incorporate the breakout box into Neo has always been flawed imo. A

Was that link widely posted/known before?

If this was the first time it was posted here, and it got mysterious deleted shortly after, the timing is pretty suspect imo.

Hopefully we didn't help completely screw over that Foxconn worker...

Nah man, he did that himself by posting that stuff.

But it's still sad if our leaker is gone.

I like that it gives you a flashback to the PS2 design. But the layers are a bit too thick to give it a really nice design, but we'll have to wait until we actually see it of course. Might even be far off from what it looks like.
