Around six years since I posted any new photos on GAF, but my father was protesting that he had no idea what I looked like since my facebook picture was six years old too, so I took a new pic today.

I've been holding off since I've been busy getting fit (down >70 lbs since last summer), but since it's on the internet already, here ya go, GAF. Better pictures in a few months.

In the process of growing my hair out to "guy long" for the first time (see--> Not "Skater long"). I've grown my bangs out long before, but I've always caved and just gotten a haircut when it reaches the "I can't do shit with it" mid-process phase.

That, yeah. Unrelated to artificial sweeteners though. I've really just watched Sugar: The Bitter Truth, read Good Calories, Bad Calories, and done reading on Wikipedia. But I tend to want to know the technical explanations behind things like that, since I'm done just accepting that something is good for you or bad for you based on specious appeals to authority.

You know how you kind of imagine people to look a certain way while you don't see their true face, but then you see it, and you wish you could go back? Yeah, that happens to me all the time while reading this thread.

Knowing so many people over the internet for years, becoming friends in some cases, and *then* seeing pictures, it can be jarring, yes, and your perception changes in an instant, but eventually you have to realize how unimportant it is. Maybe when they're recounting life experiences you can put them into better context, or better spot bullshit if they're talking themselves up, but usually you get a feel for that regardless.

Women have it the worst, though. Far too much of how they're treated from that point on in an internet circle tends to depend on beautiful or ugly, and it can drown out normal interactions in either case to such an extent that it's often best to remain text on a page. Fortunately our community is pretty respectful of our own, and we're pretty good about keeping to appropriate areas for the positive end of that sort of thing.
