Sony announces PS4 Pro, $399, November 10th

That was frustrating cuz i still dont know what to do. I am in the market for a new ps4 as I just moved out. I have a 1080p tv with no plans to get 4k any time soon.

What do I lose by saving $100 and going with the slim?

They wouldn't even definitively say frame rate will be better on Pro.

I have the same question. Recently bought a FULL HD TV.

Adding to OP, thank you.

Sure it's been asked a million times in past hour:

Is Pro only truly benefets from a 4k/hdr TV?
Nothing for 1080p tvs except a small resolution boost?

The biggest problem with this presentation is that we're leaving with more questions than answers.

  • Are games being rendered at 4K or simply upscaled?
  • What are the console specs beside 1Tb HDD?
  • If I have a 1080p display, the enhancements will be automatic or they need to be patched?
  • What kind of enhancements 1080p TVs can get? Supersampling? Better graphics? More fps?
  • Dos it have a fucking 4K BD player??

Can 4.2 TF even run native 4K?

4k movies are 100 GB +

You honestly don't see why some people still buy physical copies?

Some people don't care about quality.

So not only is the PS4 Pro not a REAL 4k console. It doesn't even offer REAL 4k Video Content from UHD BDs that are actual 4k scans and not upscaled releases.

Just continuing the same old shit of not being powerful enough to keep up with current display technology. Except now, that 1080p has been pushed out by the TV industry, that 1080p is FINALLY an actual concrete thing for console gaming.

I can see Edge running an Xbox strikes back cover akin to their 2007 PS3 strikes back cover. Their hardware is much more appealing and I say that as someone who has never really cared for Xbox hardware, even the 360 controller.

Yeah... no.

The only thing the Xbox One S has on the original PlayStation 4, let alone the PlayStation 4 Slim, let alone the PlayStation 4 Pro, is the 4K Blu-ray player. The PlayStation 4 is a similar size, it's more powerful, it has a better OS, better looking games, and a wider range of games. The Scorpio, which will release a year after the Pro, will likely have some real substantial advantages over the Pro. They will come at a price.

bookmarked for when 4k still doesn't matter, budget PS4 & PS4 Pro continue to outsell everyone else to everyone's 'shock' despite their 'shortcomings'.

etc.

Lots of us don't care about sales... we wanted a product capable of playing UHD Blu-rays and it's not the case... so we're kind of disappointed. Also it seemed kind of a logical thing to add too.

I hope they allow developers to improve the framerates; kind of seems like they're dodging the question which is kind of worrying.

From the benchmark type demos they showed off, it looks like they're doing graphics and advanced settings to high or max, and leaving the framerates at 30fps, or 60fps for games that can achieve that already. To me it looked more like it'll be stable and not dropping below 30 like a lot of games do now.

Would love to know

1. If this is going up for pre-order any time soon so I can know whether to stop waiting around or not
2. The HD size on this thing

The silence is deafening

It looks like you will miss out on some very vague performance or graphical improvements if the developer of a game will include such improvement.

They're using rendering techniques to create 4K image, it's not native 4K but look close enough. They were clear about that right from the start.

I don't understand the 4k Blu-Ray omission.

Does it keep the price down by a significant amount?

Can't say that conference really sold me on upgrading. If I didn't own a PS4 and was looking to buy one for the first time then getting the Pro would be a no-brainer with that excellent pricing. But since I don't have a 4K TV I didn't really see any major benefits to upgrading from an OG system to a Pro right now; I look forward to comparisons of games running on both systems and maybe they will convince me to bite the bullet.

All of this just feels like they're desperately trying to push people to buy their TVs and somehow save their TV business if anything..

Is there any side by side comparison with the PS4 Amateur performance wise? Not interested if it runs the games the same way except at a higher resolution.

It is pretty obvious why Sony didn't release specs.

1. The specs were leaked months ago, and no changes were made.
2. It is going to be compared, unfavorably, to project Scorpio.

Can 4.2 TF even run native 4K?

I don't believe so, but the point is that this is something that should have been said loud and clear.

But who knows, the GG guy said on stream that the console is at least 2x more powerful.....

So..a firmware update will be out for ps4 to update to HDR ready. Yet you would still need an HDR display. Arent the displays out today only 4k HDR? PS4 cant even do 4k..so how will it even take advantage of it? Im confused..fuck

Gamestop pre-order is already live, so I'm assuming the other companies will join suit shortly.

The HDD is 1 tb.

So.

My PS4 be dying. I don't have a 4k/HDR tv. Yet the price is pretty good. Don't know whether to go Slim or Pro. Extra resolution etc is nice but £100 is £100
that i can spend on Hellboy before it goes out of print

The lack of 4K Blu-ray since it already supports HDMI 2.0 and HDR is very puzzling. I thought Sony would push 4K since they sell their own television. I am not really impressed to be honest and will probably wait until Digital Foundry verdict on games this fall. If there is a huge difference at 1080p I might consider it. Apart from that I am happy with my PS4.
