I'm getting one for 1080p with benefitsSo is 4k the only difference? Like there's no other benefit at all?
I'm also only ever buying 60fps games

So only slightly bigger than the OG PS4.
I'm gonna explain it to you:
Pay $100 more and you will get:
- better performance
- better graphics/etc.
You don't want it? Don't buy it.
Clear?
@ up to 310W
Jet engine incoming
All this 4K player talk and there is not one available physical 4k movie to buy right now, unless they have finalized the disc and I didn't hear about it.
That being said, I am not sure who thought it was a good idea to release an updated pro console that can stream and play 4k but does not have a 4k physical player.

This is just bizarre. Make a console.mostly.aimed at making the most of 4K tv's and don't include A 4k bluray capable drive in the thing, the place where you'll get the highest quality 4K content. That is legitimately mental. I mean, I'm guessing the drive would cost maybe $5-10 more. Might be wrong. Main thing is if the XB1S can include one then Sony have no excuse. It's literally nonsensical and quite maddening. I'm just glad I won't have a 4K tv anytime soon... I still want the Pro, and I know it will benefit PSVR and just generally give better image quality in my games... But that ommission seems seriously short sighted..
The Pro damp squib. The Scorpio has better spec! Unbelievable
They explicitly said that Horizon would have more foliage in 1080p on the Pro.
Ugh, no, it isn't?Here's the problem the better performance is only confirmed for VR.

Is there any benefit to buying the PS4 Pro if I dont own a 4k tv / monitor? This is going to be my first PS4, so lets say I own a 1440p gaming PC monitor; if i connect my ps4 PRO to it, will it look better than lets say the slim model?
At least the PS4 Pro still has the optical audio port ¯\_(ツ_/¯

It's 2 months away...Wow, just saw this won't come out until November, I was thinking they'd have an earlier launch.
This console will probably have a limited userbase, so the question remains why devs would develop special features for the Pro console.
That's the biggest question, will the next GTA have a Pro patch? I honestly doubt it, especially with games that are constantly updated. Seems more of a hassle than an asset.
And if you need to show Shadow of Mordor twice on a new console reveal, it's pretty clear that the third parties aren't that interested.
New York City, September 7, 2016 – Sony Interactive Entertainment today announced the introduction of PlayStation®4 Pro (PS4®Pro) (CUH-7000 series) computer entertainment system, which delivers enhanced experiences through improved image processing capability and support for 4K quality images*1. PS4 Pro will be available on November 10, 2016, in Japan, North America and Europe at a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of 44,980 yen, US$399, €399 and £349*2. This marks the first time ever in the history of PlayStation® that a higher-end system will be introduced in the middle of the platform’s lifecycle. PS4 Pro will complement the standard PS4, including the slimmer and lighter model also announced today.
「プレイステーション 4 Pro」(CUH-7000シリーズ)
By boosting the performance and capability of the system architecture including the CPU and GPU, PS4 Pro allows games to deliver graphics with far more detail and unprecedented visual precision. Users with 4K TVs will be able to enjoy all PS4 titles in higher quality, such as 4K quality*1 resolution and faster or more stable frame rates. In addition, PS4 Pro supports 4K video playback to deliver 4K streaming video services such as Netflix and YouTube.
HDTV owners will also be able to enjoy the enhanced gameplay experiences on PS4 Pro, as the system delivers 1080p resolution for all PS4 games and higher or more stable frame rates for some supported titles.
Furthermore, looking ahead to the future of imaging technology, all PS4 systems including PS4 Pro will support HDR imaging technology*3, which enables the reproduction of brightness and darkness while realizing a much wider range of colors. Users who own an HDR-compatible TV will be able to enjoy supported games and other entertainment content with visuals that are more realistic, strikingly vivid and truer to the way the human eye sees the real world.
“Today marks an exciting new milestone for PlayStation as we unveiled the high-end PS4 Pro in the midst of the console lifecycle, catering to gamers who are looking for a heightened PS4 experience," said Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment. "By accelerating the innovation cadence at PlayStation, we’re introducing choice in the marketplace, enabling gamers to choose the PS4 model that meets their needs. Ultimately, with titles that leverage the potential of PS4 Pro – plus PlayStation VR launching soon – all PS4 owners continue to benefit from having the best place to play.”
The form factor of the new system inherits the slanted body design of the previous models and the body design consists of three layers of blocks, symbolizing the powerful presence of the PS4 Pro and its solid feel, with mirror finished PlayStation family mark emblazoned at the center of its top surface. PS4 Pro also comes with an additional USB port in the rear in addition to two USB ports in the front for connecting additional devices including the PlayStation®VR virtual reality system.
The hard disk drive capacity of the PS4 Pro is 1TB*4 to accommodate more games, demos, download contents and favorite gameplay videos.
Every PS4 game title, including those already available and those launching in the future, will run on all PS4 including PS4 Pro. Furthermore, all the PS4 system employs the same user interface and shares the same online community for multiplayer gaming and network services.
SIE will announce details of PS4 Pro with its robust lineup of games from 3rd party developers and publishers as well as from SIE WWS towards its launch and will continue to further enhance the entire PlayStation ecosystem.
*1Outputted by graphic rendering or up-scaled.
*2Prices in North America and Japan exclude tax. Prices in Europe and UK include tax.
*3Supported through system software update.
*4The hard disk drive contains space that is available for users and space that is reserved for the system, therefore the actual space that is free for users is smaller than the total space stated in the document.
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2016...id=773623908704452608&adbpl=tw&adbpr=10671602With more pixels, 4Ks higher resolution delivers graphics that are sharper and have greater detail than ever imagined. HDR enables visuals to look much closer to the way your eyes see the real world.
Some developers are updating previously launched PS4 games to add PS4 Pro support, while other developers are building PS4 Pro support into upcoming releases. At launch, youll be able to download patches for games such as Uncharted 4 which are enhanced when playing on the new console. Future releases that will have PS4 Pro enhancements built-in include Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Mass Effect: Andromeda and Days Gone.
However, even if you own an HDTV that does not support either 4K or HDR, PS4 Pro still provides a number of benefits. All games will run in 1080p resolution, and some will even run in a higher or more stable framerate. If youre a gamer that wants to be at the forefront of innovation, PS4 Pro is for you.
There will no doubt be frame rate improvements. They just don't demo well on stage because that involves admitting that you struggled to hit 30fps on current hardware.
guys I'm lost with this PRO thing. Why I should pay 100 buck more for a console that may or not work on a FULL HD TV?
What do you say? I'm not a "highly discriminating gamer" should I bought the Slim or the PRO...
I'm gonna explain it to you. They probably produced a tonne of these, they're gonna have to firesale them post initial launch. Plus with added bonus of almost certainly guaranteeing core gamer, higher ARPA accounts moving to Scorpio. Simples. This is the very definition of fuck up.
Their target audience are the people on this site. Look at the reaction.
Dat "reaction" was guaranteed for this. A lot of us were waiting for this. There are dozens out there that hate the "console .5" idea. DOZENS!
