Dude is reading Gaf confirmed!

Opinions is fine and all, not justifying a score of a 40 or 2.5/5 is not. If the review gave reasons for the scores I'd be okay with it, it doesn't. I mean it reads like a 6-7 not a 4.

I read them all the time to amuse myself. Just trying to talk some sense.

I understand, and feel the same way often, but again, this one is a poor example of the point you are trying to make. While UC4 was tame compared to UC3, it still blew this one out of the water. (and several others do in fact)

that was crazy man lol

Did you try turning assists off and how that felt?

Yep I tested everything in all combinations which took a good deal of the review time.
I ended up using nothing on and found it to be completely fair and with knowledge about driving and some for thought completely doable by most.

You will see various assists on and off throughout that video for just that reason

The number would be slightly higher, comprised of one less opinion than before.

A single 2/5 would have a pretty big effect on the average.

If your gunning for a 90, it would take 5 100s to negate a single 40. No easy feat... Id be surprised if it can hold 90 with that review in there.

i fee like it;s important because when a creator makes something you like, you want them rewarded as much as possible. We all know that bonuses are tied to things like Meta/Open critic benchmarks, so there's likely to be a tiered bonus system of sorts, with some level of bonus for an 85 and a higher one for 90.

Plus there's just a pride thing too for the devs. It's no different than a runner finishing a 100m in 10.01 or finishing it in 9.99. A tiny difference yet a world of difference.

Offtopic question about HDR:
You mentioned you tested it on 3 different TVs - can you elaborate which models and where the HDR looked best on?

Doesn't Metacritic weigh it based on the review?

I don't have problem with the score as that is whatever, but the review is trash its like 8 paragraphs with half of them just saying how dead the genre is and cars are boring.

Damn! How well did Forza Horizon 2 do? I might pick this up down the line.

Metacritic wise?
86

Gears of War 4 can make that 90 also, Xbox One coming back to mimic 360 old days wich is fantastic! Forza Horizon has always been one of my favorite racers, bought the first and loved it, along with DriveClub those franchises are just all i need for racing, too bad one is never coming back.

Kudos to Microsoft for having such a powerhouse racing franchise.

Yeah, I have grown out of love with Simulators and love arcade racing games.

Its fantastic Microsoft has this but I am puzzled as to why Sony hasn't tried an open world racer as well. Drive club is my favourite track racer this gen, Forza 2 is fav open world (for now).

On topic Great reviews, and the fact they offer a Demo and allow early reviews BEFORE THE GAME RELEASES always is a good sign they have confidence the game is good.

Oh god, do I pay $100 dollars to play it early? I NEED this game in my life right meow!

Seriously dude. I want to play this so badly because I have Friday and Monday off, but is it worth the extra $40? Especially with so many other great games coming out over the next 3 months? UGH.

Metacritic doesn't say exactly what their algorithm is, but I believe scores from larger publications are weighted more heavily.

You guys act like websites are laughing all the way to the bank when they drop a review 'just for hits'. How much revenue does a controversial review actually create? 10 dollars? A hundred? A thousand? I'm guessing that the actual number is so damn pitiful that it would finally kill the entire debate about reviews being 'just for hits'.

The momentary increase in page revenue certainly isn't worth damaging your reputation over, don't be ridiculous.

Samsung KS8000
LGb6
Pseries vizio.

Due to how the game works and all the various locations each had some issue and each had places they stood out.
LG looked the best for sure. But neither other TV was a slouch. KS8000's edge lighting got in the way whenever they had any kind of letterboxing which is very often and you can see pillaring here and there. But I don't think most folks will be bothered by that. Nighttime races were a tossup.

One thing about HDR. People are straight up going to have to get accustomed to fiddling for a great deal of time for each game and each tv.

I was passing the game from one xbox to the HDR HDMI input of one tv and then the S to the other HDMI input and switching between the same local area(took some friggen time let me tell you) and as I stated in my primer videos. If you never see the HDR your fine. IF you do...its like night and friggen day.HDMI

2/5 from our reviewer, says it feels like Playground Games is getting bored of making racing games

yes.....and he basically gives no reasons at all.....its like the shortest fucking review I have ever seen.

Also WTF is this?

Massive, full and with a list of things to do which borders upon incessant, Forza Horizon 3 is a driving game both without direction and made by a studio seemingly – understandably – bored with cars. It isn't wholly different or worse than its predecessors, but after four years of these games, and with titles like DiRT Rally rediscovering the fundamental, basic thrills of racing simulations, Horizon 3 feels tired.

It's bad when you can read an entire review in under 5 minutes and the author of the review gives basically no good reasons as to why he gave it the score he did.

A 2/5 is not the problem......this review being complete and utter shit.....is the problem

Fine... ok... I go buy that KS8000... (later this year)

I watched your video on the HDR stuff, kinda bummed out a bit because I was considering getting the XBR800D series soon which is edge lit, normally I'd wait for the tech to mature as well but I really wanted to get something this holiday and can't get the expensive ones. How bad would you rate the issues with the edge lit and HDR are, is it a significant, immediately noticeable thing or is it just a thing of good not great?

No you don't. Regardless of how good a game is you don't pay $100 just to play a few days early.

Ridiculous how companies are doing this now.

I completely agree and that's why I have been resisting this whole time. This game has been the hardest to resist so far. I need to take a cold shower and play Mario Kart 8 some more until next week.
