Giant Bomb PSVR stream | It's always Summer in PlayStation VR Nation

Two questions:

- how long ago did this stream start (and what did they play before the Kitchen demo)? Edit: just saw OP update: the answer is only Rez Infinite apparently, meaning they probably started not too long ago.

- why are there suddenly so many problems with PSVR when I believe most people reported back enthusiastically from when they played with it at trade shows (including the GB crew)? Did Sony change something for the final version?

2: probably the fact they aren't playing in a controlled environment

Im not watching the stream but do they show the social screen or whatever? Cause I thought that was zoomed in so it doesn't look too distorted and shit.

It probably also is the social stream, but David Scammel from Videogamer also mentioned on twitter that some stuff looks real fuzzy in the headset.

When I used the headset on multiple occasions, I never once experienced jitter of any kind. It's so sad to see that somehow this headset went from being really good, to being a mess for tracking.

Canceled preorder.

I'm still open to trying it, just not in this first wave. (Also I don't actually have a PS4 right now cause mine died, so I'd be waiting till November anyway to actually play it.)

The reaction to this from some people is kinda strange.

Wouldn't you want someone to tell you if a £350 bit of hardware is not built well, rather than try and think of excuses to ignore their impressions and spend the money on a sub-par product anyway?

I don't understand fanboyism.

Does Amazon's return policy still apply to the PSVR?

I had mine pre-ordered, excited for months, but these reports of the head tracking problems has me really concerned.

However, I was thinking of letting the order go through in the hopes that the head-tracking would be patched by launch day, but also returning it if it turned out to be a deal-breaker for me.

Spatial tracking and awareness varies by the game you play, but titles like Super HyperCube and Job Simulator do an impressive job interpreting walking and body movements. The problem is that going from game to game varies. Some software does a much better job than others in tracking you and applying that to the VR world. It's occasionally difficult to know how much space you have to move around so that you don't wander outside the camera's view.

I already saw cool stuff that I would theoretically want to experience myself if the tech was better. Shame the hardware isn't up to the challenge yet.

I need to protect my $400+ purchase!

The fuzziness is from the reprojection to 120Hz. Because you only render new frames at 60hz, when the head moves in that interval you get a reprojected image.

Their experience runs counter to months of previews and demonstrations at expos.

Even the review thread has great impressions from reviewers.

I guess Jeff Bakalar is a Sony fanboy since he think the hardware is built well.

I played it in a Best Buy setup in a wide open area of the store. I saw no issues

Optimal distance with a uniform background and a limited number of curated seated demos. Battlezone was good and most people liked the demos they did play. Intersted to see any of those Best Buy demo games on the stream.

I'd like to get Batman VR just to throw shit, honestly. However for the price of the headset and all, I'm still not sold. : /

e: lol Drew with that The Rock quote.

yep, looks, moves and glitches everything like expected using 1 crap camera and not nearly enough tracking points by far

They messed with the lighting at the very start to try and figure out if that was causing the jitters. It got worse the darker they made it.

I'm only following with one eye, but they put the light out almost completely. Currently the light might drown out the LED on the headset.
In the dark the iso-noise of the camera while go get really bad. Normal room lightning might improve the situation.
